We are the ONLY team not to score a goal from a set piece.
How is that possible.
The easiest thing to teach really as you are in charge of the ball and play stops.
What's more to the point is why the goalkeeper changes position with his full back only to pass the ball straight back to him,by which time we are under pressure and then stroke the ball to Grime who has run Back to then stroke the ball wide.
This happens most times.
We are better simply by being direct. Monday proved it. | |

Only good news from the Fulham game we scored from a corner, a short pass to Paterson lovely cross for Piroe to score. Clearly a spur of the moment move as Paterson was actually making his way back to mark a Fulham player near halfway line then changed his mind.

I think a short corner counts as a corner. We should be taking more short corners instead of aimlessly crossing it.
The PL data analyst sugest that 3% of corners result in a goal. That falls to 1.5% direct from a corner I.e. the next touch after the corner kick goes into the goal. [Post edited 11 Mar 2022 9:53]

Yes can be a grey area. If you did not have the corner you would not have scored.
A bit like flick ons from throw ins or a short free kick knocked sideways for a shot on goal or free kicks crossed into box where again a flick on results in a goal. | |

Let’s be honest with our abysmal corner record,If we score from 1 short pass or 5 shorts passes, then anything is better than nothing, if you score from it.
If you have a team of mainly midgets, (vertically challenged ) then the manager and assistants should have been working on corner routines / set pieces, at the training ground from day one.
In a tight game, scoring from set piece plays are a vital part of a team’s armoury.
