Noticed a lot of people moaning about football being called off and in general that we should just get on with things.

I wonder if those same people will be going to work on the 19th or taking advantage of having a day off.

I have already myself come across a few contradictions, people now after moaning are all up for the day off on the 19th 🙈

If I was as anti royal as some on here I’d do volunteer work on the day of the funeral.

Can't you think a fortnight of mourning is a bit excessive and that having a paid day off is good?
The workplace will be closed so of course i will be enjoying the time off. Don't care what the reason is for the day off it still gives more free time with the family.

I’ve got a 5 day training course booked in starting the week of the 19th. Been booked in for months and cost me a fair whack too. It’s going to be a nightmare to rejig things if it’s now postponed or altered because I won’t be able to use holiday from work for another set of course dates. No confirmation from the training company yet but I’d be amazed if it’s not impacted by it all. Trying not to be too selfish or negative but can’t help but be a bit bewildered by it all.

I just swapped shifts, now I am off on Saturday but working on the Monday. There'll be nothing much on tv anyway and now I can go to the football.

I'm between a rock and a hard place, there is no way I wan't a day off next Monday as I'm as Anti Royal as you can get, I have spoken to my customer and he has no problem with me working on his roof on Monday, however I employ 2 people, 1 self employed, and like myself want's to work that day and the other a young lad employed direct, who, surprisingly, has become a Royal fanatic and want's the day off( to go on the piss with his mates). When I explained to him that although I would give him the day off but was under no obligation to pay him Iv'e become the biggest w****** in the world and all his mates are getting paid for the day and so should he, so, here is my dilemma, do I, against all my principles, pay him, because he's a good lad and very hard working? If I do pay him I would feel obligated to pay the other fella to keep harmony in the camp and therefore have to have the day off myself, which I dont want to do. Thoughts?

Does the bank holiday cause the same economic damage as a days strike from the Railway workers ?
The media coverage is profoundly different.

So I guess it just depends who asks for the day in question … 🤷‍♂️

If he thinks you are the biggest W in the world he is hardly a good lad.

And I volunteered to change my shift to work. Though Fireboy, you are much more needed out there than myself!

Respect to the Emergency services too, no doubt they'll be busy on the day.

I am retired!!!

I have been lucky/unlucky enough to have witnessed either live or slightly later, by the magic of TV and Tinternet nearly all major events in my life.

Theyve been major events in the Worlds history, and lets face it we have had the opportunity too see them, generations before us heard days or even longer later of happenings.

I've been watching as much as I can, and will hopefully be watching, and lets be honest about it we are absolutely top class in putting on an event of any nature.

edit, changed one word , as either myself or the PC was not in full operating mode this morning..

Tbh Cat, I want to work because I want to miss all the palaver.

I'm a republican and im hoping this event is the beginning of the end of the monachy, as you can see with my lack of posts I've been respectful, i respect other peoples opinions and therefore i expect my opinion to also be respected.

If i was at the game i wouldn't boo the anthem if it was played, i would stay in the concorse, no way should it be played because it would be booed
