Never be disappointed by the actions of another man, But be disappointed only in your own. Never revere another human being for they are just like you, Fallible, weak and tormented. Worship comes from within, not towards another persons actions. You will end up disappointed. As often is the case.

It is very nauseating & as the Dr says there are going to be some very disappointed fans when he leaves or is sacked if he has another season of failure. Not sure if we are allowed to criticise Russ on the platform anymore, it seems every post that does criticise him the poster is deemed negative. A waste of a season with a very talented squad.
| This is Swansea City’s manager for next season on 15:50 - May 2 with 2240 views | Dr_Parnassus | I think this is his main issue. Two failed seasons and he thinks it’s great because we had more possession. It’s this lack of understanding and accountability which has allowed such things to grow. We were 3 points behind playoffs with 6 points to play for. We draw against Hull essentially ending those faint hopes and he’s pleased with it, not even disappointed by his own words. He should be furious that this season was defined by a 20 game period where he could barely buy a point. There is a reason our more ambitious players are looking elsewhere. We will look back on our two seasons with the likes of Piroe and wonder what the hell went wrong. Giving a new contract to Russell would be one of the biggest mistakes the club could currently make. He needs earn it, something he most certainly has not done at this stage. Half the fans worshipping the ground he walks on, is not reason enough. | |

There are a lot of kids who tend to be easily influenced by social media and clips like this who won't hear a word against him. There are also quite a few older heads who lived through Martinez's bullsh*t and really should know better than to be taken in by a smooth talker with a reputation far in excess of his ability.

I saw that video from Jordan on Titter and nearly threw up. Seriously folks. We ve won nothing at all,we did not even get past Brizzle city in the cup to see if we could play as we do against better teams .Football is all about glory ,no matter what colour .It’s why we are seeing Welsh club sides dissing Wrexham and their fantastic achievement ,which is something super Russ would have never achieved but he would have been happy if they played as he demands. We must be the most boring team in the league. Endless passing backwards, sideways, almost a disinclination to shoot, preferring to stroke it sideways …again. We rarely move forward at pace but when we do,we score, hen we park the bus. The 3-0 drubbing of an excreBle,gutless Norwich side should have seen us get six. Good teams don’t stop when on top. I have to be frank here, seriously. Whilst most on here clearly worship Martin, I feel he turns my stomach ,I can’t watch him, certainly not listen to him. I feel he is utterly the wrong man for us. Now, anyone wanting to fire back,do so,but do it alone and not in concert with your chums and try a new tack instead of the endless specious comments that abound. I wish you all well though and please enjoy the summer or winter wherever you live

There are a fair few, K. Not limited to just here of course, the comments on Twitter under that video are mind boggling. It’s a pretty standard after game manager talk after drawing with Hull, confirming the end of our playoff hopes and him saying how good the team have been all season - which we all know is not true. I can’t get my head around how he can be so happy and full of self praise after two back to back seasons where he couldn’t get this extremely talented squad into the playoffs. But with the people that worship him, it’s largely in the form of excusing him when we are awful (blaming players and anything else that moves) and praising him relentlessly for pretty standard successes like beating teams largely towards the bottom of the league. Another one, is instead of admitting that he’s changed from his ‘process’ because it wasn’t working, they create a myth that it was always supposed to be this way and all part of the ‘Russ grand plan’. I’m sure if people were honest and said he’s a young manager who has clearly been hampered with his stubbornness and addiction to his own self promoting style, who has realised that he needs to relent and change to what others have been begging him to do in order to get results - then people would be less polarised. I think half of the fans are just bemused by the praise and myth building that goes around him. That’s the case with me anyway. For my money, he needs to show consistency and he needs to prove that he can learn, can accept responsibility in the heat of the moment (not retrospectively) and make his team hungry to achieve what they are capable of, not just be happy with mid table and a load of possession. The end of this season has been a good run and some positive signs, but that’s all they are until he can cement them. If we are in and around the top 6 by Xmas and continue to play the way we have done of late, then he will start to earn some of the praise he gets. Until then, it’s a watching brief.

| This is Swansea City’s manager for next season on 20:02 - May 2 with 1999 views | Dr_Parnassus | Our record vs the current top 6 this season: Games: 12 Won: 0 Drawn: 3 Lost: 9 3 points out of a possible 36 Scored: 9 Conceded: 25 GD: -16 It’s all well and good beating the likes of Cardiff, Wigan and Huddersfield - but for a squad like ours, Russ should be earning his money by being able to compete consistently with the top 6, at the moment we are being thoroughly dominated by them. These aren’t all world beaters either. There is no reason we should be struggling to compete with the likes of Millwall, Coventry and Luton. | |

Not sure it’s just kids a few on here (who previously I’ve believed had a bit of football nous) won’t have a bad word said about him. Mind boggling.

I’m still looking for examples. Personally I admire his desire to get to a position that his football philosophy can be proven with players at a lower level. However, we all surely know that if he was replaced another relatively unknown would come in, someone who won’t rock the boat and be submissive. I’m pretty certain those that want Martin to leave for whatever reason don’t think about what comes next. They will just shout for that persons head when it suits them.

I’m sure some will as they obviously get a kick out of it some (myself included) just believe he is not a very good manager. Do you believe we have had a better squad than the likes of Luton. Millwall Sunderland & Coventry has the final 7 or 8 games really papered over November to March?

Those teams mentioned, I would fully expect that most of their fans would say that they have a better squad than Swansea. That would be the impasse.

He is what he is. I wouldn’t be that bothered if he was replaced, I’m ugky eniugh to take it on the chin. I would be concerned about by who and why though ( he’s not going to get sacked btw ) but the ‘question’ was of this silly reference of worshipping other humans. I answered that by clearly stating what I think of his personal strategy at this time. If we are going to refer to the poor performances that you mention , a different topic, then we have to refer to the good performances of late. I’m a bit of a realist, I see the issues with Martin, but I also see improvement, and of course major areas for development. Especially for a thirty seven year old manager. I don’t let them ruin my enjoyment of being a Swansea City fan, those days have long gone for me. I also see the positives of what he has done in recent times. What’s perceived is good and bad, ? They go hand in hand. As you pointed out previously we have reported numerous articles on his short comings, and if that is going to be the case we have to look to the better side of his management as well. I learned a long while ago to remain as non judgemental as possible even when the circumstances were horrific, it’s what ensured I could at least apply that to the less important matters like Russell Martin, the clubs owners or the team I support. If you ( not you but in general ) ask yourself the question ‘what actually was good about that ‘ and apply that to even the worst case of football scenarios, or when it’s good ask yourself ‘why’ and how can it be better you become less concerned about your opinion and more open to ( I think ) a bigger picture. And more respectful as well. It’s not everyone’s cup of tea, but it works for me,
