Surely I'm not the only one who's thinking that maybe, and a big Maybe, that Monga thinks his loan to a Championship club is beneath him? If this is the case, then even if his athleticism and football skills are beyond his years, his maturity and personal life's decision-making is quite lacking? Starting to remind me of another youngster who supposedly had all the talent in the world (or so he thought) but felt he was above being loaned to Swans.

A very telling couple of lines ronegarding Monga in the article. We have had a couple of loans in the past from top clubs where kids and that is what they are thought they were better than they were and didn't need to show any commitment, Chelsea spring to mind. Others have worked, learnt from the experience and gone to be regular internationals with a very lucrative career. The kids have to learn that life can go either way.

Let's be fair, he's only 17. He played Championship football last season, impressed in a struggling side, and then had Man City and Arsenal chasing him. It's only natural that he'd rate himself. But now he's landed at a club pushing at the top end of the table, a long way from his support network, and he's just a small part of a strong squad - much better than Leicester's last season. If he's not making the bench, it's probably because others have shown more in training. It reminds me of how Frank Lampard spoke on his own loan at Swansea. Maybe the biggest thing this loan will teach the young man isn't football - it's resilience, patience and professionalism. The article isn't painting Monga as a diva or with an attitude problem. It sounds more like a young man facing a big adjustment, miles from his friends and family. A challenge he hopefully rises to. Whether he does is largely up to him. He is still just a kid though miles from home - I wish him well. I had a lot of growing up to do when I was 17 too - didn't we all?

Maybe he should get out of bed and go to training. Allegedly.

Question I would ask is what contribution to his wages are we paying? Whatever it is appears to be dead money.

I was 15 when I left home unable to travel home for weekends or phone home ( we never had a phone in the house) so unlike today with a huge array of ways to communicate maybe he needs to grow up a bit , he is in a pampered position after all .

I'm 59 and still need to grow up At 17 kids need a lot of help whilst ironically thinking they know it all. Monga's career could go either way. Maybe he'll be another like Vardy, ends up sinking down the ladder before rrachjing his potential?

Yes, I was implicitly referring to Renato Sanches... | | | | Login to get fewer ads

I am being fair. Yes, he's only 17. I get that. But when you're not showing up on the manager's named team for an upcoming game, you probably start to question why you're not being named. You can start blaming others or your perception of circumstances of the situation, or you can look in the mirror and say I can do better. Man City, despite all of their legal issues, are in 1st place in the PL. Where's he going to fit in to that team this season? He isn't and it's the reason City loaned him out. If he can't even make the bench on game day with the #1 team in the Championship, then what's City going to think? I'd be busting my butt trying to impress the coach! Apparently he's not doing that. From the article: "This most certainly looks like a player expecting far more than he is getting at this moment in time set against a reasonable expectation by the Swans for him to integrate, turn up for training, agree to development, learn from model professionals like Josh Tymon and Jay Fulton and generally remain modest regards all the effort that is being put into his future by the Swans and his parent club." Can’t understand why he wouldn’t want to be part of this team to be honest.
