Juergen Sommer.

Just for that one game really, the best goalkeeping display I think I've ever seen.

Against Aston Villa in 95/96. He saved everything chucked his way, throwing all sorts of shapes. It seemed inevitable that Villa would score but Juergen had the game of a few lifetimes and was unbeatable.

We won 1-0 with a Gallen goal that didn’t cross the line which made the whole thing funnier.

Juergen reverted to his natural disposition after this game.

Yeah that was bang ut of order that booing - so good when the fans turned that round. You rarely see that.

I always loved Doudou.
Steve Yates - not a fan favourite, but I always liked him. Incredibly hard worker.
Palmer, in total agreement with paulparker for once.
I thought Oli Burgess woud make a player. I liked him.

a mate of mine (Reading fan) went on holiday in the summer of 96 and said Steve Yates was in the same hotel.
Apparently Yates said the atmosphere at Loftus Road was rubbish apart from the odd mid-week game :( Also said he couldnt believe it because despite relegation Chris Wright gave all the players a pay rise so none of them would leave.
My mate also said Yates wife was very attractive but had a huge a*se!

I liked Connor Washington, because he always tried gave 100% and never hid, much more worth his money than some of the other wasters we have employed.

Unfortunately Connor was nearly always in the wrong place at the right time and the right place at the wrong time. He made it into an art form and some of those misses, one on ones that he failed to take absolutely incredible but the guy did try and can't be faulted for his effort.

I was living way down in the West Country early 90s. One late summer night some football highlights unexpectedly came on the tele - a regional first round tie of the League Cup (or whatever it was called back then - Rumbelows? Littlewoods? Ginsters?) It was a Torquay game against someone like the New Forest. One player stood out, Gregory Goodridge. I remember actually saying to myself, wouldn’t mind him at the Rangers. I was delighted went we bought him - must have been a year later. Sadly never got a run of games.

He scored direct from a corner!

Rob Steiner.

He always played like he got the club and the fans and would do anything to both entertain us and help us win. Such a shame that knee injury ended his career as he could have been a club hero I think.

Good shout, I liked Steiner a lot.

Really think that injury plus the one to Carlisle tipped us over the edge that season. (Pretty sure I read an interview with Gerry Francis where he said it did for his own morale)

Not sure if they'll be any other takers for this one, but I loved watching Trevor Francis play for us.

Strange bloke as a manager, there were times (mainly with Sheff Weds tbf) where he looked like he would be pretty good at it.

And since he's in the news, I'll add Dexter Blackstock - always seemed like a decent sort of bloke, always tried hard.

There's a bit of a coincidence. I mentioned Goodridge above and during that game my younger daughter was born. I had completely forgotten his part in the game just remembering that Barker scored twice.

Fereday,,Bannister and Coney used to live in Bracknell and used to come into my local after games on a Saturday,,always had a chat, no air or graces about any of them, Coney also liked to frequent ladbrokes! When we played Southampton in 2014/15 I was outside St Mary’s early, had a tap on my shoulder and it was Fereday, hadn’t seen him for 25 +years but he still remembered me.
Paul Parker also lived close by in Wokingham and used to coach the rifle volunteer on a Sunday morning, had a surreal moment one weekend where I had Parker and Fereday on the touch line watching me playing in goal!!
No one in Paul Parker’s road knew he was a footballer until he appeared at Italia 90 and threw him a massive street party when he got back.

Mark Dennis - on his day unplayable from left back!

Jimmy Carter - never saw the stiffs draw such crowds as when he was playing. Seemed to have it all.

Bignuts - proof that it’s not the size of the man in the fight, but the size of the fight in the man.

Bobby Hazell - ‘kin legend.

Neill & Dawes - both vastly underrated in my book.

Tony Sealy - took pelters, never shirked and always put a shift in. Joint top not her 82/3 .

Michael Robinson - always put a shift in.

Please tell me that Wayne still had a tache in 2014.

I like to think that in the intervening years it had flourished and turned into a massive tea-strainer job.

Adam Miller. A fan, skilful on the ball, and always good to see a non-league player get a chance. Unfortunately just couldn’t do what he wanted quickly enough.

Stefan Bailey! Another young kid that seemed to have bags of ability, but just couldn’t get to the pace of games. Still playing for Kempston Rovers, the Walnut Boys.

Andy Impey, I first saw him playing for Yeading and the coach there (Willie Wordsworth LOL) said he would play for England one day. He was nearly right too, just not the first team. Fondly remembered for leaving David Ginola on his arse waving his arms for a foul whilst Rangers went back down the other end and scored.

The grass is always greener.

Ian Stewart - a very skillful winger that turned down a 100 quid a week pay rise as he did not think he deserved it

Ian Dawes - under rated left back - played 229 games for us and I was very disappointed when he was sold to Millwall.

Gary Waddock a tenacious tough tackling ball winning midfielder who also played over 200 games for us - I think he had ongoing knee issues so went to play in Belgium before coming back to play for Millwall and then rejoining us (although don't think he played for us in his second spell). He became one of our many managers and only lasted a couple of months

I still think about that utterly ludicrous Sylla goal against Bolton. Can understand why we offloaded him back to Belgium but what a strange player he was. We'll have 10 Washingtons that I can barely recall in the time it'll take me to forget Idrissa.

I will probably get slated for these but here are my reasons.

Neil Ruddock - his passion and character helped keep an awful team up would liked to have seen him stay - slightly skinner too !

Mark Kennedy - don’t think Any one has mentioned him ? Class player was far too quick a stay with us.

George Santos - the ultimate utility player gave 110 percent always despite being limited always booed which I never agreed with.

Matthew Rose - Same as above ! And a great servant to the club 10 years but no testimonial ?

Poll: Now it’s slightly clearer cut who do you want as manager ?

Good thread this.

Matthew Rose. Yes, I agree. Always thought he was underrated. Shame he seems to be remembered only as the 'glass man'.

Tony Sealy was the second-top scorer in the Cup-Winners Cup, 1987-88, with four goals for ... Sporting Lisbon. Well, I never. He also won the Hong Kong Second Division six times as manager of Hong Kong FC.

ON the subject of Santos there was a Lady who had an ST in V Block Ellerslie Road back in those days, she was absolutely obsessed with him for some reason - and really cheered and screamed his name it was odd - anyone here who sat there in those days might remember her.

Equally she had a over the top and bizarre hatred of all things Watford FC - far more so than most of us would have even Chelsum - (Seriously) this did not just mean Watford and the odd famous player or ex player - but anyone who had ever had anything to do with them, even if they were now a QPR player - for example one game there was Lee Cook on the match day programme - She'd bought a copy, bought it into the ground to her seat, read it then tore up all the bits with Cook on it, referring to well... you know who.

Now at some point I can't remember what happened but something happened to displease her midway through a game, and she stormed out saying she'd never come to QPR again, and so far as I know, she never has.....

I think her ex might have been a Hornet's fan...
