After last nights debacle.......has anyone changed their minds???

Nope

VAR is the worst thing ever to happen to football. It kills that enjoyment of scoring a goal.

No, you shouldn't need a 5 minute delay and multiple replays to spot that one

I have to say after last night I am torn. Never liked VAR but I am beginning to wonder. What I think should be the case is that if the VAR referee cannot come to a conclusion in a set time then the decision goes back to the on field referee.

Absolutely not.

Exactly, you'd only need a 30 second delay to see that was wrong...

To be fair I'm not overly keen on VAR but if a lino and ref have missed something so obvious, we just have to accept it, nothing we can do will change it and we're all venting because of it. VAR would have resulted in the obvious mistake being rectified.

As I said in another threat, I'm 50/50 on whether I'd like VAR or not but incidents like last night make you think.

Nope, part of me enjoying the game so much, wether playing or watching just how close some decisions are and the speed a ref/lino has to make it (rightly or wrongly) .

Opinions will differ and last night was one of those that went against us badly, if we were 3 goals up then a few posts berating the ref, .

Cameras for goal lines fair enough, can be just a few inches so the officials cannot be expected to have teloscopic vision to tell if a ball has crossed the line.

100% yes. Last night was the straw that broke the camels back for me. Cup games there is too much at stake for 3 men to be allowed to completely f*ck it up. QPR should be in the quarter finals today. Money in the club, our season thriving.

FIFA reckon Hawkeye have developed a new technology which is ready and able to call offsides instantly. This is my only gripe, as that drawing lines on monitors thing is ridiculous so if that is no longer needed, I'm all for it. Bring it yesterday.

You shouldn’t but you have incompetent people. We probably all work with one. At least in football, we can have something in place that prevents the glaring errors.

Anyone who says 'NO to VAR should stop complaining about last night......humans make errors and that is what happened last night.

We would be into the Q/F, most probably, if VAR was active last night - very simple 30 second decision for VAR.

Most around where I was sitting thought it was offside last night......but it wasn't after watching a simple replay.

Yes for me too now
Too many people are letting their judgement on VAR be affected by the negative impact it had on the game in the first couple of seasons. While the occassional incident still happens, and quite rightly gets highlighted, it is all working a lot more smoothly in the background now.
Obviously though, we would expect to receive the Keith Stroud/Championship version

More or less an emphatic 'no' from me.

But, saying that, IF it could be intelligently and above all sparingly used then, after a night like that, it could be worth considering.

Maybe like in the tennis where each side gets 2 or 3 challenges. I'm sure there are flaws to that idea but watching the footage of last night's goal is painful stuff.

Agreed. Better to take a bit of time and get it right, then spend years debating the merits or not if the decision.

I bet the lino wished we had it as well.

If the lino is any sort of man.....he will be going through hell this morning because of his error.

VAR would have prevented that situation.

Not changed my mind: VAR has always been a good idea and should definitely be used in our games. It’s improving season on season after a difficult start and the lack of it has cost our club dearly last night.

The problem for me is that VAR in the championship would be a cheaper version of what they get in the World Cup and Premiership. They probably wouldn’t scale it back to reflect this so you’d most likely get a sh!t version of VAR. I think it’s drawbacks would outweigh it’s benefits.

I think if it was used for clear and obvious errors as trailed, then it's fine. A quick word last night from VAR, 'nope you've got that wrong, it's a goal' would be fine and would have taken seconds.

I have said it before , var in the championship would be far more beneficial to clubs as the refereeing standard is so poor and inconsistent , in fact dare I say it but sometimes the officials even make it up as they go!
The premier league has Cameras everywhere anyway and if a throw in is given the wrong way you have breaking news on sky sports and talksport devote every show to talk about it so the official are under the spotlight constantly
Refs in this league do what they want and nobody gives a sh!t
