Sanderson getting sent of was possibly the best thing that could have happened to our club and fans tonight.
As a set of players and the management team we worked our socks of for each other, something imo that has been missing the last few games. Players coming off the bench that would otherwise only normally get a few minutes here or there. But tonight we welcome them back into the fold with open arms. The reaction to George thomas at the final whistle from the rest of the team tells a story. Well done lad.
As fans, cracks were appearing in what looked likely a slip down the table and calls for sackings from the usual mob, and the normal tirades of abuse of players on here and further afield. You only had to listen to our 12th man during the second 45 and at full time to understand when our backs are against the wall, we won`t go down without a fight.

Agree about the fans and team spirit Sharpy, don't think the sending off did us any favours though, we were firmly in control until that point. Started the 2nd half defending and it almost backfired on us... loved the fact that Thomas just seemed to chase lost causes when he came on.... great finish to the game. Phew.....

Posted somewhere else that the substitutions tonight were spot bollock on, or words to that effect.
Great team spirit.

get what you are saying Sharpy; that ended up as one of 'those nights' under the spotlights at HQ.

very nearly went completely tits up but could end up being the moral booster that was needed.

well done the 10 and the subs; epic levels of effort

No, nearly cost us the game.
A game we should have won easily as we were the ones 1-0 up for a change and then we would torn them apart.

While Dickie is back if anyone gets injured we have to rely on Ball. Remember its a marathon not a sprint.

We'll never know if we'd have won or not with 11 men but Sharpy is definitely right about the galvanising effect on the team and supporters both last night and for games ahead.

That was sorely needed and gives us a boost for the rest of the season.

Turned a frankly dull affair into a thrilling watch. Sets us back on course for this season and bodes well for next as we are developing a squad which can still be competitive next season even with the necessary sale of our best player. ( currently Willock but that could change!)

I think Sharpy's point is that it may turn out to be a significant turning point now that the dust has settled and it didn't cost us anything.

I agree, as long as we don't pick up casualties from the extra effort it caused us or the three CBs we have left don't get any injuries / suspensions in the games Sanderson is suspended for.

Wonder if we'll see Ozzie back on the bench on Saturday. He has to be the next choice of CB now, surely?

At the time, a stupid, stupid action from Sanderson that made that game much harder than it should have been though - that is clear...

Can we go out yet?

I'd prefer we stick with Ball as CB cover rather than Kakay. He did well last night.

When so much went so well I'm afraid I cant agree on Ball. He was caught under the ball too often on crosses and but for the tremendous work of Dunne could have cost us. Not his fault he tried hard to do a job but wouldnt want him exposed there again.

Generated a superb atmosphere alright and could be the catalyst to a great run in. Harsh on Sanderson though. Has no one here done something stupid in the heat of the moment that they immediately regretted? Especially in our early 20's. I certainly have.

Couldn't agree more and I was thinking exactly the same thing last night at HT when we'd not long lost Dion (and even more so at full time!) what a big 45 minutes this could turn out to be if we could hang on to that lead.

Yes if we'd 1-0 or 2-0 and "normal" circumstances, it would have been a nice/welcome win and everyone goes home happy/content.

BUT, to win in that fashion in the last minute (prior to stoppage time) so soon after conceding was absoLUKEly (see what I did there?) massive! It galvanised the team and the fans in equal effect.

If you didn't come away from the ground buzzing your tits off at that performance/goal/result/atmosphere then there's something wrong with you.

LOVED IT!!

I can't be as "understanding" with Sanderson, but I can be "forgiving" and we move on. A lot of people "have done something stupid" , well yes, perhaps; but how often has that been in our paid employment?

He is not a 17year old, and he is "a professional" footballer and if we are honest if his sending off had led to us losing 2 or 3 or 4 - 1 last night would everyone still be saying the same things about Sanderson losing the head?

I came away buzzing last night, but I could just as easily have left LR road raging if we had been playing a better side than Blackpool who I thought after 30mins we were going to win easily against.

Anyway, no immediate harm done last night because of the hard work put in by his team mates but let's hope his ban for 2 or 3 matches does not leave us short of cover.

...and what about our goal difference?

We are 41 goals behind Fulham. Had he stayed on we might have reduced that to 40. Maybe even 39.

I'm sure we've won with 10 men before but I can't remember when it was

sanderson looked good up to the red, he was quick, very strong and mobile, before the red he took 2 heavy hits but reacted to the 2nd.

Not a huge Dom Ball fan generally but last night ..superb . His covering with and for Adomah saw us through . They were continuously dropping into spaces left by the other and swapping players to pick up . One wild tackle but otherwise disciplined and played with his brain ... IMO

I am Dom Ball's greatest fan. He always plays like that in my head. But then I do drink.
