My first battering came back in the early 70's waiting for my dad to pick me and my mates up out Wembley Park Tube after Wembley speedway.

3 of us got battered by 10+ skinheads because ....well no idea. got a piece of 4 x 2 across top of the skull.. can still feel it today.

2nd time outside Highbury when we played Villa in the 2nd replay. Walking down towards tube fist comes flying in my face out of the blue. Hated Vllla ever since.

28th October '79 Ipswich away and 27th December 78 both places punch up in the town before the game both times, didnt get beaten up but got kicked but we gave back as good as we got. Remember burning jacket being lobbed onto them over the mesh pen fence and loads of coinage

Now the wife gives me a slap every now and then

captains fantastic

Never really had a shoeing , the closet I came was around 20 years ago in Gran Canaria
It was the last night of our lads holiday, there we were outside this club having a good time as you do, we sitting there watching these 2 girls walk by when out of no where this Spanish geezer comes out and smacks one of the girls straight on the hooter ,
we all looked at each other in disbelief before one of my mates says he aint having this and proceeded to chase the fella down the road before the rest of my clan ran to get him , this left me on my own as we had just ordered a bottle of champers (flash gits )
anyway after what seemed a few minutes I thought sod this and went to find them
I could hear a commotion and 4 of my lot are giving this Spanish fella a good hiding in some blokes restaurant ah well I thought they don't need my help , after pedro is sparked out I walk off to the bar to get my drink when all of a sudden the owner of the restaurant with about 4 of his chefs are standing in my way saying" there he is" , out of know where , whack, I receive a right hook on the jaw
fcuk this I thought and then had it away on my toes, followed by 4 angry chefs breathing down my neck chasing after me , the worse thing was I had a pair of slip ons and was skidding around all over the place , just when I thought I lost them another load came round the corner and tried to kick and punch me , I now had 7 angry chefs after me whilst I was being chased like a sunburnt benny hill around the bars of Gran Canaria, lucky for me this young lad could see what was happening and let me hide in his industrial fridge until the heat had died down, I waited in there around 20 minutes until my mates found me and we got a cab out of dodge

And Bowles is onside, Swinburne has come rushing out of his goal , what can Bowles do here , onto the left foot no, on to the right foot That’s there that’s two, and that’s Bowles Brian Moore

Never had the pleasure myself. I'm quite big and a bit of a coward so I've generally avoided trouble. My brother is a year older and was always getting battered when we were growing up and he's the quietest, mildest man you could meet. Just how it goes.

Likewise i never had a shoeing but many years ago I was walking home from school and some of the kids were Chelsea fans decided it would be fun to give the QPR fan a kicking. It took 10 of the brave souls to beat me up. I was lucky as they were beating me up against a fence and I managed to stay on my feet and covered up. Someone came along and they legged it.
The moral of the story was that i knew one of them from the estate where i lived on, a flash kid called Michael and a few weeks later I got the little tw't on his own and gave him a good slapping. Funnily I got in trouble for beating him up and then had his older brothers after me for months.

I got smacked round the back of the cannister with a metal bar at arsenal When we beat them 3-1 and john jensen scored. Felt like i'd been hit by ernie shavers.

Had no hearing in my right ear for about 3 weeks. Daft, i was in the home end dressed in a Fawn william hunt safari suit Jacket with a belt round it, Roger Moore style, and celebrated wildly(pissed), when we scored the third.

i probably deserved it.

Same with me.I did come close a few times at football during the 70's and 80's,but I've always managed to preserve my looks,so far.
The last punch up I had was at school in year 9,and he was much smaller than me.I'm now 55.

Surprised my mouth hasn't gotten me a few slaps at the football.Involved in the scuffle at Hooters in the year we were champions but escaped with a flying chair chair to the knee.
I was never big and A couple of mates took liberties in my teens to their cost as i was a dirty bastard in a fight.Like banging their head off the pavement and a knee to the kisser when they fancied marquis of queensbury rules.
Almost all (6) of my bouts were in self defence.

Early 90's, got into a row with some flash yanks in Westbourne park. I vaguely remember some girl tell me to leave it as they were boxers.

Bollox are they said I.

Turned out they were.

Still got the scar above my right eye to prove it

Had a few close calls back in the 70's early 80's. Tended to travel to away games in small groups that didn't like to run, so...
While in a number of varying sized altercations I came off the worst on a few occasions, but only took a couple of beatings, Coventry away and at Villa for a night fixture. About 30 of us had been ambushed before the game but had rather spectacularly turned the tables on our speech impared Brummies. Unfortunately we were recognized after the match (very little Police presence), heading for the local British Rail station and the much larger number of Villa split us up, then split me up.
Enfield - Wembley, Skinheads, 4"x 2"'s, no reason, all sounds very familiar. Sorry.

Somehow managed to be in Hounslow at 1 in the morning a bit worst for wear . Had about 7 Asian lads give me a shoeing, nicked my phone and wallet.

The landlords brother at my local gave me an absolute kicking once. I didnt know too much about tbh as i was pished but a couple of weeks later i see him and confront him about it and he gives me another good hiding knocking my front tooth out.
I'm more of a lover than a fighter..

Got an iron bar wrapped round my head by some locals in Swaffham one night in 1982 when I was waiting for a taxi after a party. But I was too pissed to feel it until the next day.

Got in a fight with 10 Welsh miners at a house party in Chessington the day before the 1985 Middlesex Sevens. They were kicking the crap out of my Welsh mate, I think because he was from the wrong village or something...
One of them nutted me in the face so I picked him up and dropped him on the table that had all the empty bottles and glasses on. Two more of them got the same treatment - and I'm told that all three subsequently went to hospital with severe cuts.
I attempted to leave after that but got caught in the corridor by the other 7 and ended up with a broken nose and an black eye that swelled out to the size of a tennis ball.

always been pretty street wise and tall so spot or dodge a lot of trouble also talked my way out of a few spots best gift of the gap was when i managed to get a gang of glue sniffers to come and beat up the gang that we're going to beat me up , oh a classic was as a kid there were these two fat black girls blocking the whole path my mate went in the road to pass them I just push in between them they said something I said something like your a pair of fat cows next thing my mates running down the road I loo back and there coming at me ,naturally im not scared but decide to run as cant hit a girl!

well those two fat girls could bloody run they caught me and had me up against a wall and were going smash my face in !! my mates hiding down the road watching looks like im a goner when this mega fit girl comes out of nowhere and grabs them tells them to leave her sister alone of she'll do for them , I make a sharp left and exit the scene

actually can only think of four times when ive actually been hit once whole class attacked me for a full minute I survived 55 seconds but then got one in the ribs

one kid took me on and I had to crack his head on the pavement as he was strangling me

once Newcastle fans on escalator me going down them coming up right free for all

finally in pub with girlfriend some bloke tried chatting her up finally got message that she was with me said sorry about that mate shook my hand then hit me flush on the chin with his other fist ,i just looked at him thinking why did you do that that really was silly ,he sort of backed off and his mates grabbed him saying how sorry the was and dragged him out of pub

Listen to the band play!

Got attacked by 2 skin heads and there exceptionally unattractive female skinhead companions outside McDonald's in Uxbridge whilst waiting for some friends. I was about 15 and these brave souls were about 17/18. First I knew about it was a quick chant of we hate the mods and someone stubbed a benson and hedges out in the side of my face (still have the scar). My immediate response a few seconds later of shock was to swing out a very lucky haymaker which got dickhed number one flush on the jaw and knocked him into his girlfriends. Then the economy size dikhed number 2 proceeded to try and kick the crap out of me whilst his mate was disentangling himself from pile of female skinhedettes. I took a few heavy kicks but made sure that I didn't stay down long enough to get more than bruised ribs before getting another smack in the nose Pushed the guy over and ran inside now somewhat bloodied, bruised and teared up from nose hit. They all ran inside and hit the wall of my mates who inside buying chips. Half of said mates made up front row of school scrum team and were, to say the least very big, another was second in country at judo at his weight. There was a sudden role reversal and skinheads started to back pedal like something from a scooby doo cartoon, only to run into my other mates who I had been waiting for outside originally.

They all ended up legging it back towards the bus station with significant damage and lacking their flight jackets which had been torn up in the ensuing "motivational conversation" outside McDonald's. Whilst it took a few weeks before the burn healed up and the bruising faded, I did have the satisfaction of knowing that my mates were a good bunch and that the skinheads probably felt a great deal worse than I did.

Got a right booting on my stag night. Having got totally bladdered I was unceremoniously slung in a shopping trolley by my mates and wheeled about the streets around Kingston Poly, [now University] then I was dumped in someones front garden. Disturbed by all the commotion, Mr Someone came out of his house, saw me floundering around hopelessly on the lawn and got cross. I can still recall this bloke screaming 'f***ing student' at me and laying his size elevens or whatever they were into me, an easy target. I was pleading with him that I was not a student, but no use, he was having none of it, more boots reigned in mostly in my back. A couple of my mates and best man eventually rescued me before further damage could be inflicted. Bloody hell, not only did I have a mother of all hangovers the next morning, but I was black and blue all over my body. I vowed to get revenge on the turd, but couldn't recall which house it was where nasty Mr Someone lived. Just my luck I'd take it out on the wrong person, so I just left it.

There aint half been some clever bastards.

I got jumped years back at about 9pm in Brixton. I got wrestled to the ground and managed to get up and broke the guy's jaw. Unfortunately there were 4 others with him and they gave me a proper kicking, including a kick to the head. I decided to lie on the ground while they ran off. The worst things were two girls just stepping over me rather than stopping to help and seeing the guy I broke the jaw of in the hospital trying to tell police officers I started it, even though they found my wallet in his coat pocket!

It was my first day at a new job too and I went in the next morning with a black eye, split lip and a broken left hand. It was a proper f*ck of a punch I got away. I consoled myself with that as the staff at the TV company just stared at me thinking what the hell have we employed.

Never knowingly right.

Loftboy, I got cut in Simpsons night club in Bracknell. Some bloke punched some fella on the dance floor then pushed me, I lost my footing and spun around and he slashed my back with a stanly knife. Bouncers piled in and beat the shizer out of him. I only got a small cut luckily and have a nice enough scar as we didn't hang around for the old bill and did a runner as my mate had some powder on him :)
Bosh, it wasn't me mate (I'm from Brixton). Never got beat up there, it was always in smaller towns outside of London trouble seem to kick off.
Worst kicking I got was in Barmouth Wales. Me and my mate Robbie and a couple of others were there on a trip when we first got a car. A few local Herbert's came up to us in the street and said you boys want a fight? Robbie was hard so immediately said "only if you say please" and then clumped the fella. They all waded in and beat the pee out of us. Robbie had some puncture wounds on him that must have been from a nail or something. Anyway we all survived but looked pretty the next day on the way home.

Poll: Serious concern we'll double drop?
