| The one that got away? 14:59 - Feb 18 with 1557 views | Pindarus | Sinclair Armstrong scored what was described as "a classy goal" last night and is also a"cult hero" at Ashton Gate. Did we do the right thing? | | | | |

| The one that got away? on 15:25 - Feb 18 with 1382 views | rbee | I am surprised that the question is still being asked. We pocketed a lot of money for Sinclair and he got a higher paid, long contract. | | | |

| The one that got away? on 15:29 - Feb 18 with 1369 views | LazyFan | As already said 4 goals in 31 appearances (mostly from the bench as even Brizzle doesn't rate him a start) For the same money, we got Burrell, who has made 26 appearances (including some from the bench) and scored 10 goals. Armstrong will get another few starts toward that goal last night, but I suspect he won't even get 8 goals by the end of the season, so Burrell, for the same money, has already beaten him, and that's if he doesn't play another match this season. Armstrong and Kelman for Burrell and Kone is great business. Remember, forwards cost the big bucks! | |

Well, yes, but not as much as we were told at the time, according to the accounts, unless Dykes was sold on a free. That said, I don’t think we do the wrong thing to move on from him, as much as I enjoyed his hustle and bustle.

Anybody who ever thought we got more than a million for either Armstrong or Dykes must be doing a lot of spice.

I don't think its a secret, but when we buy a player the reported money will be cheapest deal for the club, when we sell a player the reported fee will be the highest one. So, Armstrong could have been £2.5m if he had scored X goals, won X international caps, gone to the moon, married Heidi Klum etc.. Getting any money for a player is a big step on from paying up their contracts so they can leave, which is what we used to do

| The one that got away? on 16:06 - Feb 18 with 1197 views | WestonsuperR | He has scored 10 goals in 130 Championship appearances. I live in the area and the B.City fanbase are generally hugely frustrated with him, glimpses of potential but concern is lack of football ability is the feedback I get. Great decision to sell when we did. | | | |
| The one that got away? on 16:17 - Feb 18 with 1160 views | daveB | If we'd got him a loan early in his career so he could have playted a full season in league one or two I think he could have really become a good player. His career is mostly limited to the odd start and mostly 20 mins off the bench so he's never really developed. We were right to sell him but he could still be a good and effective player at this level | | | |

And we seem to be making the same mistake in not getting loans for Kolli, Morgan and Bennie

| The one that got away? on 17:12 - Feb 18 with 992 views | Myke | I always liked Sinclair, especially because of his exploits for us (Ireland) in his younger days and I was sorry when we sold him. However, nobody could say he has kicked on since he left us and is pretty much at the same level he was 2-3 years ago. That said, I’m pleased to see him bang in the odd goal or two. | | | |
| The one that got away? on 17:53 - Feb 18 with 859 views | NewYorkRanger | great bit of business by the club. Anyone who saw him play more than 5 games for us would reach the same conclusion | |

I think one issue was he’d only sign for short extensions on his contract. So if you are paying someone for eighteen months you don’t want to invest six months of that with them on loan. I think he wasn’t really ever willing to commit to us so it was a good deal to sell him.
| The one that got away? on 18:25 - Feb 18 with 751 views | BrianMcCarthy | Absolutely has the technical and physical ability to succeed at our level - deserved MOTM against Italy's Under-21's ( I know I've referenced it before, but there's no messing with that). But the question for him maybe was whether he could produce that ability consistently, or even semi-consistently. He didn't for us. He always seemed overwrought to me. If he solves that, or can be helped to solve that, then you've opened up a good career. I can see why we signed him. I can see why we sold him. I can see why Bristol City signed him. | |

| The one that got away? on 18:39 - Feb 18 with 694 views | numptydumpty | He is not clinical enough at this level. He may well get a wonder strike now and again, but most of the time, his control, nouse and movement is not good enough and absolutely his consistent form or lack of, is simply not there often enough. We did well out of the deal. Flatters to deceive.... [Post edited 18 Feb 18:40]
