The wouldn't sell Jimenez because they don't own him, he's another Mendes client on loan at Wolves. Wolves have an option to sign him for anywhere between £30-40m depending on what you believe, no doubt Mendes will get a nice chunk of that. The Football League were convinced that Mendes doesn't have significant say in the running of Wolves though... |  |

Others will be caught and ‘punished’ but, of course, they will all get a points deduction which, unless it actually deprives them of automatic promotion, will be absolutely meaningless. In the meantime we’ve been absolutely buggered senseless financially. So, we play the casino when it’s financial suicide to do so, and then when it’s nowhere near as big a gamble we embark on our own little austerity drive and will probably end up in League 1 doing it; genius. | |

ours took ages as we appealed it and dragged it out for 2 years. Wolves for 3 years have spent what they want and the reward is promotion and top half of the prem. Just seems wrong that as a club we now have to go into seasons with our legs tied together whilst bugger all happens to other teams.

An absolute joke and yet no-one is complaining.
If proper FFP had been in place, Scum and City would not have become the brands they are, so why is it "fair" to hold any other club back from doing the same? The gap between the Premier league and the Championship is getting bigger and soon it will be a given that those coming down will have a massive advantage financially, which will help them get back up. Not far off a closed shop then...
So, why is no-one complaining / moving to scrap these ridiculous rules?
Just make owners provide the funds to the club and disallow debt to owners. It's either given to the club or its not allowed... |  |

While they are in the Premier League they are out of the EFL's jurisdiction and safe from realistic punishment as the Premier League have no appetite for FFP. If they look like staying up next season the EFL will agree a token fine with them and move on.
FFP it is very much in its infancy and the rules are being revised as different situations develop. The "current season point deduction scenario", assuming it is actually enforceable, was probably brought in in the wake of Wolves' excessive spending last season to try to prevent it happening again.
For what it's worth, I think Wolves did make a profit the season before which could have been part of a long term strategy to allow them two season's of heavy losses in their bid for promotion.
There is no point feeling aggrieved; we gambled, when the rules were at their harshest, and lost, they gambled, when the rules may have been at their most lenient, and would appear to have won. |  | | |

Its very 50/50. Well run club because they got promoted. Now if they hadn't, and shown losses of £52m getting hit by FFP, everyone would be an uproar about how much of a shambles they were. Wouldn't say it was a well run club, more a gamble which paid off |  |

Hopefully what begins to happen is the EFL introduce suspended points deductions for the next time a club is under their duristiction.
Wolves, Bournemouth, Leicester won't stay in the PL forever and all of them broke FFP rules. They should be fined and have a pending points deduction of 5-10 points (depending on severity of case).
Would mean that should any of those teams drop down they would start off on the back foot in an aim to get promoted |  |

I think that would only ever have any chance of working if the points deductions applied for every year the club in question receives parachute payments. If you’ve got wheelbarrows full of cash one season makes no difference. In fact, it probably makes it easier for the club as it gives them breathing space with the supporters.
The whole thing is b0llocks. It’s got nothing to do with protecting clubs and everything to do with creating a closed-shop for the ‘bigger’ clubs. If it was about protecting clubs why can’t the authorities just enact rules to allow cash injections at any level as long as they’re not added on to the club’s balance sheet? | |
