always been a fan of the humble toastie , never a fan of cleaning them after so next time you went to use it six months worth of stale melted cheese greeted you and back in the cupboard it went .
few months ago felt the need for a toasite so as id binned the old machine as couldnt be bothered cleaning it , found one that goes in the microwave !!! yep mindblowing piece of kitcen kit 2 mins and you have a toasted ham and cheese sarnie and next to no cleaning afterwards.
anyone else got something they cant be without ?

I bought a Petzl Actik Core head torch a while ago and it's proved very useful. You can get a hanging container for it so it can be used as a lamp, you can get a bike attachment for it and it has a removable, rechargeable battery which can be powered up using a mobile 'phone charger.
It's great for finding small lost items and is miles better than most standard torches. |  |

I think I've bought most kitchen gadgets. I've got a toastie thing that looks like a handbag (it seemed like a good idea at the time); pie makers (cooks in 12 minutes); a halogen oven (the latest of many and this one has lasted the longest) ; air fryer; 5 minute copper chef that is really useful, a spiralizer that I used when I had a thing for courgetti; a mincer/shredder thing like your mum used to have that sticks to the work surface. I've just bought a crimpit that crimps wraps (I don't think I've ever made a wrap of any sort at any time in my life and haven't used it yet) and a sausage roll maker that I've not looked at as yet |  | | |

Absolutely, there's a screen on mine that tells you when It's at the right temperature, It make a ''ping'' noise and then the screen says cook.

I’ve got a plastic pot for cooking rice in the microwave. Rice in, water in - about 50% more by volume than the rice, so three cups of water for two of rice, then bung it in for about 13 minutes. Completely reliable, stick it in the dishwasher afterwards.
Not a gadget, but I bought a kilo bag of MSG off Amazon four years ago for under £4 and still have half left. Makes gravy and pasta sauce so much tastier, and I felt like Pablo Escobar when I got it out of the envelope. |
The microwave rice cooker is used weekly in our house. Makes perfect rice every time. And MSG? You can't do a decent home made Chinese without it and the difference it makes is #chefskiss#.
Get a microplane for zest, garlic and parmesan and you'll never regret it.

I bought a whetstone and while I think my technique seemed alright, it didn't really sharpen up anything. People rate these Horl things but they're pricey.
