The Daily Record up north of the border reckon we are interested in 21 year old Dundee defender Luke Graham, along with Pompey and Sheff U. Appears to be a centre back

Don’t need centre backs, we need fullbacks on both sides and have done for a while now especially RB’s, playing centre backs out of position should only be a short term fix.

Any idea if this is remotely likely, would definitely be an upgrade on what we have.

It would be a bit strange to sign a 21 year old CB given we've 3 or 4 young CBs in the DS, one of whom has just returned from Afcon.

Hes got plenty of splinters from sitting on Dusseldorfs bench all season and hardly getting of it.
Dusseldorf third bottom of B2 having scored 15 goals all season and he still cant get a game

so thats nearly 3 million quid down the toilet by the slunds of it .

was that allowed for in the project?

I've seen Graham play quite a bit. Couldn't see him in the QPR first team until next season so probably one for the dev squad. Dundee would probably sell for around 1.5 mil.

Quite happy for Mbengue to be first choice there. Although, I do think we need someone as back up. Also would be happy for us to sign RND

I think that very much depends how how bad Morrison’s injury is. If he is out for a while, it means we only have Cook & Dunne and the latter is RB cover as well. Unless JCS is back soon.

But agreed, LB and RB needs cover at least and a Ronnie Edwards in the mix would be nice.

We might not need any more for the DS, but we do need at least one who is ready for the first team NOW. We can’t get by with just JD, Cook and Morrison.

Wishful thinking maybe, but I can’t help thinking our fantastic 1 point in 9 over Xmas might have helped in Saints no longer considering us as a potential play-off rival and more likely to let him go? Madness to even think that, I know, but they don’t know us as well as we all do!

I need a SAGA. What’s the SAGA? It’s ….. Queen’s Park Rangers.

We do have a knack of putting centre backs at right back. Mbengue has done ok, but like Dunne it is not a long term solution. Even the left back position is an issue with RND’s fitness record. Can see major changes to the keeper and backline in the summer for next season.

I think Mbengue is very good at rb. We wouldn't really find anyone better. He seems to get less bookings there too.

Rumours on that Social Media thingy that multiple L1 clubs are wanting to take Daniel Bennie on loan.

That would be a good standard to go on loan to.

I'd be a bit surprised if that was true but if it is, it would be a very good opportunity for the lad. I wonder what position he'd play?

Hmm.

His positioning is poor (Dunne corrects him), his body shape often wrong when he faces an advancing player and he lunges into challenges far too often. He gets away with these things because his pace allows him to recover from mistakes. I think people like him because he's all-action, throws himself into challenges and likes to get forward in attack. We might not find anyone better this January, but he's not a solution to our very long-running RB problem.

Yes he has his faults and he goes down with a phantom injury every game.
However he's often been our best or one of our best players. Consistently above average.

This time next year, he would have fully acclimatised to the role, was always a RB, just needs games and coaching, his recovery pace is a huge asset.

How many opportunities is he going to get with us this season.? As far as I can tell, he's behind, Smyth, Poku, Dembele, Saito and Chair. L1 would be good for his development.

Seems a very sensible option to me - unless they want him as cover for our only 2 fit strikers (Kone and Kolli. If Frey is fit, I haven't seen any evidence). Unless there is a break clause on Alfie Lloyd's Orient loan.

Mbengue has been one of our best players and an excellent signing. He had 2 of the best wingers in the league in his pocket in recent games. A bit mad and can be inconsistent but at 24, he can still improve. Look at someone better? More money spent that we don’t have.

Agreed.

Can we just find a left sided, version of MadBen please and sort that out instead of loaning. That would save us prem level wages every month and maybe they could play all week.
