I think there is a decent player in there and perhaps the thinking is PC can get the best out of him and he's given the thumbs Up?
I don't recall him being as bad as Amat, Manson or VDH so it's arguable that he might improve our defence. Only problem is, it's unlikely to be enough. |  | | |

And from me, frankly, he was at the heart of an ultimately relegated Cardiff defence and (while he scored a few goals with them), hard to see him enhancing a struggling Premier League rearguard.

Is he a defensive leader though? Because that is pretty much the only thing we need. We could probably get away with not bringing in extra quality. without leadership, we are well and truly scuppered.
