It may as well have been a 1 hour Party political Broadcast for the Labour Party.

Unvelievably biased left wing propaganda.

Very happy I do not have to pay a license fee for this and I expect
much the same from Question Time coming on now.

The millionaire leftie luvvies who make up the management of the company
are shameless.

Definitely more tinfoil required, what a bizarre post! I would have said, whatever it's limitations, that the purpose of the education system is to free people from the kind of drudgery you describe. The more you achieve in education, the wider and more appealing your life choices are.

In my experience, it's the people who fail to engage with education who end up in drudgery or, more common these days, end up with no work at all, and subsist on benefits.

If you don't want paid employment, you either expect the rest of the populace to support you with their taxes, you have a rich family to support you, or you do something like 'The Good Life' and run a smallholding to support yourself. Twas ever thus, since man stopped being a hunter gatherer, there ain't no escaping it, mate, and speaking for myself, I have no desire to support you, you lazy fecker!

The list of people who have left formal education as soon as possible and been hugely successful is huge.

Actûally, relatively speaking, it really isn't.

For every entrepreneur or tech whizzkid, there are hundreds of successful people, most of whom are well educated.

Yeh, just think about all the champagne socialists leading the BBC.

Nick Robinson - former member of the Young Conservatives
Andrew Neil - former member of the Young Conservatives
Mark Thompson (ex BBC Director General until 2012) - former member of the Young Conservatives
David Clementi (current Chairman of the BBC) - vice chair of Virgin Money
Laura Kuenssberg (political editor of the BBC)any fair observation will tell you that she could not be accused of bias towards Labour
David Dimbleby - Oxbridge-educated former member of the Bullingdon Club

For what it's worth, I'm not even suggesting that all of these people are biased towards the Tories, but the idea that it is full of "left-wing luvvies" is, how can I put this succinctly, nonsense.

Don't know about the others, but Laura Kuenssberg? I've watched a lot of her over the last few months and she's very definitely anti-Tory.

Well Prince Harry only scraped an art a level yet he's gone on to be a member of the Royal family so the sky's the limit for anyone if you work hard enough.

The quality of education is in general absolutely piss poor in this country though. In many of my classes the teacher would just stick a slide up on the overhead projector, we would furiously try and write down as much as we could and then regurgitate certain basic facts at a later date.

The best teacher I ever had was a history teacher who largely threw the curriculum in the bin and encouraged discussion, arguments and critical thought. If every teacher was like him my education would have been a joy as opposed to the copy as much down off the overhead projector as you can borefest.

It was the same in the 1970s my friend- and I supposedly went to one of the best in the area. I ama socialist, but perhaps the reality of Comprehensive education ( highly principled so it was) was actually a race to the bottom and comfort in mediocrity rather than pushing the brightest.

The curriculum in general seems to want to give children a basic knowledge of a wide array of subjects, whereas it would be more beneficial to the child to give them a in depth knowledge of the things they are good at and enjoy.

How many hours were wasted by trying to teach French to every single kid in the school when very few people go on to use it, and the people who do have a natural aptitude for languages anyway? What do the small, less physical kids learn from playing rugby against bigger, stronger, faster kids, getting smashed around for an hour in the freezing cold mud? It must be torture for them.

Talents should be identified and nurtured, cos there's very few kids (or people) out there who are brilliant at everything but every kid is brilliant at something.

As many are saying immigration is the key issue, and controlled immigration is required, would these rules work for the UK.:-

After 3 months in the UK migrants need to be either working, have a member of the family working or have sufficient funds to live (and have full sickness insurance). If not then they can be returned to their home country.

So Conservative then? Seeing as they've done f*ck all about it since they last got into office. Also doubled the national debt since then.

We always hear about the 'magic money tree', despite the fact that the tories have borrowed more than every Labour government combined in history. The magic money tree is situated in the tax evasion forest.

Labour can't even get fantasy economics right. The magic money tree is a embarrassment compared to the mystical brexit fountain!

I do generally vote Conservative yes, and I'm not saying that the recent Conservative Governments have done enough in relation to immigration.

Mind you, no Government could have done, as being part of the EU and the Single Market we had to accept freedom of movement of people within the EU. So there was no answer.

As long as Brexit is seen through to allow us to control our borders, we can manage immigration effectively.

Rubbish. In theory they could have cut it by 50% just by stopping non EU migration.

No government would do that but they could certainly have done far more.
