"Very disappointing" is a massive understatement, I'd be absolutely seething personally. Especially if he and Montero both go on the same day leaving us with no replacements. We all saw how influential both can be last night. |
I've been one of the ones who has been quite understanding of the player sales etc.
I'd also unserstand, albeit not be happy about DJ being sold, if it was a case of not being able to get shot of the big earners and/or we get very handsome fee for him.
However, if they sell DJ AND fuking Montero I will be fuking tamping.

Potter said yesterday that there's no offer on the table ("not as far as I'm aware, no") and DJ's clearly fully committed to the club.
DJ liked a tweet from McBurnie saying "he's going nowhere" on Sunday evening. They only made a significant bid on Monday supposedly (which Potter still hasn't been told about, I guess). They were walking away yesterday lunchtime according to their rags.
As a great, long-running saga it seems to exist mostly in the heads of journalists and conspiracy theorists. He's got 18 months on his deal. "It takes a lot of money to take him away from us" says Potter. |

Potter said that he doesn't know of any offer on the table. He didn't say that there hadn't been discussions, or whether they were currently in discussions, or whether there had been an offer on the table which had been rejected, so they might still be talking.

When you look at all the money that was squandered on the likes of Bony, Ayew and Clucas within the last 18 months it is pretty frustrating to now be selling our best youngsters for such a small fraction of it. If its true its 5m and its true the owners are forcing him out rather than giving one of our serious prospects a new contract (and you are normally 100% spot on, one of the few on here) then I have my pitchfork out now too. The f*ckers. My argument that I could understand were entirely based on James wanting it and forcing a much bigger wedge.
And the news that's doubly chilling is Montero too. So both our game changers and pacemen at once. I know what I'd be doing if I was Potter and it wasn't me giving the final ok on this. | |
