Referee Steve Martin Steve is known throughout the world for his Hollywood blockbusters and a career in films. He took up the whistle to further his CV and now claims to be from Shropshire or nearby. Background: Staffordshire official Stephen Martin is the son of former Premier League referee Andy, who officiated during the 1990s. He took charge of his first Championship game during the 2012/13 season. It wasn’t until he was appointed for this game that the investigative staff at the Swansea Independent rumbled him. Millwall have started the season impressively, I mean, even during lockdown with no fans in the ground they have managed to top the arrests table in their South London home, The New Den. Alan Tate though is trying his best to equal that record. However they also have a remarkable history in association football.
Millwall Football Team have had five different football ground locations during their history, four of which were on the Isle of Dogs, prior to the 1910 move to Cold Blow Lane, South of the River (River Thames). Millwall Football Club’s birthplace was at the J.T. Morton’s Canning and Preserve Factory on Westferry Road (Nos. 2-4 on the river side of the road and Nos. 17-23 on the opposite side of the road to the river). A group of Tin Smiths (the ‘Tinnies’) decided to form a football club, calling themselves the Millwall Rovers. Their first base was The Islander public house, typical of Millwall to get steamed up before they steam in, this was at 3-5 Tooke Street. The pub became the HQ for the football club and a social centre for the Millwall Rovers players. The pub was built around 1858 but was destroyed in an air-raid on 7 September 1940 and was never rebuilt. The location of The Islander public house where club held their meetings and the players would socialise is just 5 minutes walk from the local doctors and could be reached in 3 minutes by a knowledgeable ambulance driver.
Swansea and Millwall have met a lot over the years in numerous competitions. Currently the swans have won 20, Millwall 19 with 11 being drawn. Surprisingly Millwall supporters have seen some rivalry with Swansea, initially in August 1984 at a division three fixture when Swansea fans mistakenly paid in to the home end and Millwall ran away, then ten minutes later when Millwall got very angry and Swansea ran away. Or shall we say majestically decided to leave that end of the ground.

Let’s leave the unpleasant stories that always surface when Millwall are mentioned, they too have ventured to West Wales over the years and been sent home with their lions tales between their legs. Oops ..

Definitely one to watch out for is Jed Wallace, he scored a cracker of a free kick at the last Liberty meeting
Wallace initially signed for the Lions on loan from Wolverhampton Wanderers in January 2016, and he made 12 appearances as Neil Harris‘ side reached the League One play-off final. The winger then returned on another temporary basis halfway through the following season. This time, Millwall went one better — seeing off Bradford City to seal promotion at Wembley. Wallace scored three goals along the way, and after earning promotion he left Wolves and became a Lion permanently.
Since then, he’s never looked back. The 26-year-old has been Millwall’s main creative hub for the past few years. The Lions upset the odds and finished eighth on their return to the Championship, but the following season they finished only four points above the relegation zone.
Another is Ryan Woods currently on loan from Stoke City. I think, Swansea once fancied him but we didn’t fancy him enough and he went to Stoke, he clearly isn’t as good as we all thought because he has been farmed out on loan, but he loves playing for Millwall. His nickname is the ginger Pirlo.
The last time the clubs met Millwall v Swansea City, 30 June 2020. This game due to be played on 21 March 2020 but was postponed due to the EFL’s decision to suspend all games following the outbreak of COVID-19 (coronavirus). The score was 1-1 at The New Den.

If we land Pigott we may even tweak formation, which shouldn't be necessary given how well we've played so far.
