The action taken by Swansea City Supporters Trust 10:16 - Nov 21 with 18638 viewsKeithHaynes

It’s been an interesting topic for sure, which does sometimes spill over in to other threads, and understandably so. I've taken some time out to look at the specific action taken. It’s my understanding that this is very clearly down to specific issues around the weeks leading up to the sale of the club by the old board. The exclusion of the supporters trust in the sale and despite the trust wishing to be involved were excluded. That’s the basis of the action. For it to be a valid action the statements of truth gathered by the ( plaintiff) other words are used to describe them have to have some depth in law. Clearly the trust haven’t gone ahead to freeze assets and this is another topic which needs clarification. This action is not against Swansea City FC, as it was then or is now. The claims being brought are not against the club.

They are against those individuals who sold the club as they were, not the club as it was, nor as it is now. I think this should be a key area for people to dwell upon. I would have thought both sides ( and there are many sides named because it isn’t one entity) will have already disclosed at least some, but not all of their paperwork similar to criminal cases ( CPIA it’s called criminally ) As there is no fixed date as yet for a trial my understanding is full disclosure has to go ahead before any trial. I think that’s around eight weeks prior.

That aside, it still seems to me to be pretty clear the various named persons will either have to settle to some extent prior to any trial date or go ahead and defend the action. This isn’t as a whole being but as individuals. For example, Jenkins and Dineen will be separate defendants as will the rest of the then board. Any award will not be paid for by the club but by the individuals from their own personal wealth, if of course they lose the action. That will be measured by percentages, but I’m pretty certain won’t amount to the actual money lost by the trust when the sale went ahead.

That’s my take on it, please discuss that here folks, give it some thought before pressing enter, there are clearly some differing stances on here, which is healthy and as I would expect in a society where personal interests and views will always be different. If we can keep the topic on this thread it will be an interesting discussion.

I’ve removed once again a series of posts attacking Phil Sumbler and the trust and posters on here and elsewhere. Any further indiscretion on here towards anyone either alleging impropriety or conduct, hate or abuse will result in a ban. I can confirm Phil is in total agreement and will now do the same on his site. There will be a forthcoming series of stories on the legal action, if you can’t handle opinion or a differing viewpoint then please don’t involve yourselves. And that includes this thread as well, especially turning round the original post on here and asking invalid and leading questions to form a point of view bringing other posters in to disrepute. It’s called a debate, then debate please. Practice civility on here, and I’m sure when that day arrives when one or two from here meet at a game or wherever then civility will also be normal etiquette. It’s probably for the best.

Now let me continue writing, and I mean my bands new album 😉

That's even more disappointing then, at least if he was, there would be some mitigation for his posts. Luckily he seems to be in the minority.
Won't say a word against the sellers, but castigates the trust at every opportunity.
For what its worth, I have no issue with the sellers selling, they were well within their rights to do so, it was all about the manner of the sale. I also have nothing against the Americans, and actually think they are doing a decent job, albeit from a distance.
Lastly for the Wirral one, I'm not on PS and have never been, due to an individual whom I dont wish to be associated with in any shape or form. So you can leave out the accusations of running back to HQ as you eloquently put it.

I am truly sorry that as a Swansea city fan I am major disappintment to you. I dispute that the Trust activists represent the majority of fans. They have done some really good things but that was 18 years ago. I did the Great North run in 1985 raised £50 but do not bang on about it. I also put £5 in the Leon Britton bucket. (worth about £300 today).

I do not believe £millions of the Club's owners money should be redistributed amongst well healed consultancies, legal firm and financial firms in Surrey. The sellers did a brilliant job for the Trust and as a minority fan I am grateful for their excellent work for the club as a whole over the 16 year period. Only a handful of PL teams have not been relagated from the PL. Relegation is an occupational hazard.

I laughed when The Dutch bloke called Van Gaal a whatever and then saw his club SCFC win at OT. I applaud him.

Seeing Charlie Morgan kicked in the guts by Edin Hazard was truly a great moment of sporting theatre. I believe upto that point Chelsea could easily have won. The man deserves a 'medal of honour' for his bravoury to be bestowed by Alan Currtis,

'Judas' Martinez holds a warm place in my heart and it was great to see Flynn, Brendan and Martinez and Alan Tate's testimonial.

HJ is a great man and Leigh Dineen continues to do great charitable works from what I read. They did great work for the club and de facto for the Trust.

The Trust is in a very good place but appeared to be run by unsuitable people who did not seem to understand the value of cash. I have pointed out the case for legal action and forced selling of the trust s shares has been seriously compromised by inflation. Burnley is now worth £200m, Oh really? that is interesting. 21% of that is £42m. So why go to court for £12m -14m? It makes no economic sense.

So perhaps the defination of the case is under review. I recommend the new board Trust settle the case with a beer or two and a curry paid for by the respondents with a £500 cheque for the Swansea city community Trust,

I continue to be a major disappointment sorry about that.

That is a fair post ,albeit one omewill not countenance.

I agree with much of it apart from the description of Dineen and Jenkins.

Quite why res gets so much unfettered abuse is painful to behold.

Resolven. You say the Trust has been run by unsuitable people. Your words but not a complete quote.

Forgive me for a bit of naivete but why do you not become a member and stand for election to the Trust Board.

Or do you also consider yourself unsuitable?

Jenkins a great man ? 😂

And Dineen doing lots for charities ?

Your continued efforts to put them on a pedestal, ignoring their misdemeanours are embarrassing and while you do make some good points they can’t be taken seriously as a consequence.

It seems the usual protagonists from the old site will jump to conclusions based on their own issues or personal agenda. Its been mentioned that I don't care what is posted on here as long as I get hits. Darran as an example has mentioned me five times in relation to this topic, and referenced my family. I have asked him personally to stop as the references are in my name and searchable by my family and includes my daughter. He has mentioned I've stated to him I've said I don't care what is said as long as I get hits, it seems I'm becoming his new obsession. That is a lie. His fallings out on here with certain posters are a complete obsession but I'm pointing out now to anyone who has followed this thread at no time has that been said. Any opinion is welcome on here and don't be afraid to state them as long as they are not offensive in any way. something one or two don't seem to grasp. Thanks for your continued support.

Keep up the good work

This website has improved considerably in all aspects since your involvement. It helps that people like Darren aren’t around much as he’s constantly causing problems with childish accusations without substance which previously he was allowed to get away with. Don’t take any notice of him. He’s a bit of a bully really and not a very bright one.

I think holistically. That means looking at the whole package. 2002 - present. HJ with MM without doubt is the greatest management team in Welsh football history. Dineen is (or was) the Chairman of the Swansea Community Trust.

The narratives today are formed on forums like this these days. Pretty smart work to be fair.

A constant drip feed of bad publicily and spin all washed down with a dollop of Welsh nonconfomist socialist tub thumping rhetoric. Irrestistable especially when another goal flies in past Fabianski / Woodman. Even giving millions to toffs from Surrey sounds reasonable to humble working class Welsh people if you drip feed and water them with the right compost.

'Holistically' ... so that 's what it means. Wow!

Anyway, I cannot disagree with you concerning HJ and the rest of the Board up until they sold the Club behind the back of a major shareholder.

But that's not your definition of 'holistically' is it?

- None of this means they should have acted they did. Or make them immune from criticism.
- Some of their great work at the club is several years old now also. But you don't apply the same logic to them as you have in your assessment of the trust i note.
- Burnley are in the Premier League. And that takeover you keep banging on about hasn't gone through so those figures are unreliable.

- But you dont think holistically about the trust. You just find things to pick on them about such as stadium expansion not going ahead or the hypothetical price of clubs in divisions above us.
- The Americans and sellers could always settle out of court mind - that would stop money from South Wales going to Surrey.
