Couple of my mates have it, ones been hit for 6 and is unwell the other is recovering, but he’s also had a difficult time. Both are 40s and fit. Another mate has lost his wife, 40s again.
I’ve got family caring for patients dying on Covid wards. Staffing levels are tight and it’s very distressing for them caring and doing their best for people who are dying. It’s very distressing for the family watching them go to work, wondering whether they will be safe, wondering if they are going to catch it and bring it home to another potential victim. The family members are all responsible, they follow the rules because they don’t want to compromise the well being of others ... and then they see all these selfish people flouting the rules and spreading the illness. They get really annoyed and so do I. | | | |

I just like to rely on professional opinion that is likely to be correct and not just because I like what the particular professional is saying. I like the anti - lockdown message more than the stuff that is correct. I'd love all these "cases" to be false positives and vitamin D to be a miracle cure. I wish the Sweden herd immunity approach worked.
If you actually look at the background of those who say a lot of this conspiracy / anti - vaxx / anti mask / anti - lockdown stuff they are clearly not suitably qualified to make these statements. You just need to look at some of the interpretations that appear on here to realise how dangerous some of these experts are.

To justify the change to Christmas lockdown he tells the world that we have a "new" virus strain that is "estimated" to be 70% more infectious than the old one.
Apparently this virus had been here since September, is it really totally new or one of the virus strains already identified in other countries, like the Italian one?
The result is it has given Macron the ideal excuse to turn the Brexit screw by banning the movement of everything in to France.

Well it seems to be a totally new strain. Apparently it is also in Denmark, The Netherlands and Italy, but it's pattern of spread suggests it originated in SE England. There aren't many countries that analyse the virus in the way that we do which is why we discovered it.
I don't think Johnson had much of an option but to tell the WHO and therefore everyone else, but it's definitely given Macron a well timed opportunity to demonstrate the potential implications of Brexit.
I just hope that the vaccine works against it, most scientists are confident it will. | | | |

Well for starters that whoever is expressing that opinion is suitably qualified to do so. For example a Gastroenterologist is not suitably qualified to tell the world there is an effective treatment for a respiratory virus.

The first paper on this new strain is also very interesting.
None of the 3 main changes have NOT been seen before, but the difference is that all 3 have occurred in one strain rather than one at a time as has been seen before.
The points of interest are that they seem to be related to those with immune deficiency who have had very serious infections for some time combined with Plasma treatment.

Provided the Doctor, regardless of speciality understands how to conduct Clinical trials, the results of the trials have just as much legality as if conducted by a viroligist.
There are some cases which prove this and the Oxford trial on HCQ is one of them, the Virologists and Immunologists constructed a totally unsuitable Clinical Study whereby they did not test it in combination with other drugs & Zinc as recommended by practically all the doctors who have previously tested it.
On top of that they did not give the treatment at the right time and gave a Dangerously high dose of 6 times the UK recommended safe maximum.
The WHO and Brazillian studies did the same.
How you can think that is preferable to a Gastroenterologist doing everything correctly and getting a result I do not understand. | | | |

This isn't an implication of brexit though, it's an implication of the pandemic. This has absolutely nothing to do with brexit.
If we have a deal or if we go WTO the French wouldn't stop travel like this. And as Bojo pointed out the brexit preparations kicked in so there's only 170 lorries waiting to travel most of whom are foreign lorries returning to their countries and 80% of food/medicines etc is still getting through. Retailers say they have plenty of food.
