The transfer situation at Swansea is positive and this is why - Big signing comi on 14:19 - Jan 18 by ReslovenSwan1

The last 17 months of his contract. Huw Jenkins made a £8m 0ffer with 6 months on his contract and he signed for Stoke. The offer from Stoke was £13m. He did not need to go to Stoke. He chose to go to Stoke. He wanted to sign for Swansea so much he actually signed for Stoke twice.

This tells me he did not want to go to Swansea. Its tough to take I know for the prodigal son but there you go.

So Liverpool would have let him come to us if he'd wanted to, despite us offering 5million quid less than Stoke?

Is that what you're saying?

Well I can't guarantee that but I'd love to see Gilmour here and not just short term, try for an 18 month deal.

That' sna interesting spin on the facts.

Here is what I remember. Liverpool wanted 8 million but Jenkins said it was too much. Liverpool waited, Joe went to the Euro's and had a stormer, on his return Stoke offered 13 million and we were priced out.

We could have had him back and at the time I think he said he'd like to return but Jenkins wouldn't pay what most of us seemed to think was a fair price. Certainly after the Euro's 8 million looked a steal.

Just my opinion, but WTF do I know anyway?

Why hasn’t he been in the frame for a Scotland cap at any point when you look at some of the dross they’ve had in there?

Absolutely. Huw jenkins tossed up a half volley on the off side and Joey played a straight bat and did what Klopp told him to do serving the interests of Liverpool. They had no interest in either playing the player or giving him new contract.

Standing up to Klopp is not easy truth be told. Roque told Swansea he was going to Sevilla and no where else and he was not in in last 6 months.. He just had a much better agent. If Joey wanted to be at Swansea he woud be at Swansea.

Liverpool wanted more than we offered, simple as that. Players can’t talk to clubs (officially) until an offer is accepted.

Joey Allen doesn’t bully Liverpool into accepting bids £5/£6m lower. Ludicrous suggestion.

Joey was ready to come back, even his agent did, fact.

You are right of course. I am simply saying Joey did not come to Swansea and it was not the fault of the chairman at the time. He offered decent money but joe decided to go somewhere else.

Stoke have out bid Swansea a number of times and owe their holding company £180m more than Swansea owes theirs. Swansea offered £2-3m for Woods. Stoke paid the £6m Brentford wanted. Those two deals account for £10m of their deficit.

Joey prefered to go to Stoke.(twice)

Joey was in final season. Liverpool did not offer him a new contract and had no intention of playing him. If he wanted to play for the terms offered by Swansea he would have dug in and forced Liverpool to release him for the price offered by Swansea. He had no obligation to go anywhere else and was within his rights to see out his contract just like Ayew.

As Angry Jack stated Stoke offer more wages and a greater transfer fee. Allen did not have to accept it. Swansea were prepared to pay £8m. Joey wanted £60k a week. Swansea could have paid this money only if he ran down his contract and taken the £8m in wages in a three year deal. £8m + £1m from the clubs funds. Joey could have played for Swansea on £60k a week only if he ran down his contract. He chose not to.

So ultimately then, our chairman at the time didn't bid as much as a rival club then?

Absolute rubbish. It's not quite what I said previously but miles away from your claims. From Allen himself,

https://www.walesonline.co.uk/

So it was never the case that Joe didn't want to come, we were outbid and Liverpool rejected any offers lower than 13 million.

PS, why are you again perpetuating falsehoods to stick up for Jenkins?

Swansea city offered to buy a player off Liverpool that had one year on his deal. The £8m was a good offer Liverpool did not accept it and accepted an offer from Stoke for Joey Allen. of £13m with good wages. Joe Allen did not need to go there. He was on good wages anyway.

Had he declined to go to Stoke and instead decided on very good wages to "fight to get back in the first team picture " for 3 -4 months then his value would half from £13m to say £6.5m. Swansea could then offer £5m and give the £3m saved to Joey in wages. Joey was in the driving seat and could have helped Swansea out by runing down his contract either for 6 months or 12 months.

Stoke have out bid Swansea for Allen, Woods, Ince they overpaid every time and the players have not lived up to expectation. They owe their owners £180m more than Swansea owe theirs.

Roque mesa who had a 3 year deal became an unwanted player and told Huw Jenkins he would only go to his boyhood favourite club and would not conside a move anywhare else. Roque went to Sevilla and Swansea took a hit. Joey went where he was told and Liverpool cashed in.

Because he’s talking absolute nonsense with complete and utter lies.

Stoke had a bid accepted, we didn’t. Why he’s bringing up the Roque Mesa situation up I’ll never know, wasn’t he sold the year we went down? Zero bargaining position for us we needed him off the books and he held the cards, Joey Allen doesn’t bully one of the biggest clubs in world football into doing what he wants. It was Stoke or have zero games.
