| The transfer situation at Swansea is positive and this is why - Big signing comi on 18:34 - Jan 18 with 2032 views | 34dfgdf54 | Jenkins when asked about why we didn’t match Stokes bid: "There might have been one or two decisions we could have taken in the summer that may have changed the feel around the club," Jenkins added in an interview with BBC Wales Sport. "I'm not going to go in to detail, we may have gone down one or two different routes, may have recruited a few players differently. "But we are where we are, we've got to everything in our power to make sure we turn our fortunes around. We need everyone to be 100% behind the team." This res fella expects players to gamble with their short careers to help us out 😂, same with this watters guy. You pay the money or you don’t get the player, there would never be a bidding war in football if it was run in the little unicorn rainbow world you live in. It’s business. | The transfer situation at Swansea is positive and this is why - Big signing comi on 18:28 - Jan 18 by Nortbankboy | Has Joe been good value for all that money at stoke? |
The question was answered in the first paragraph. I do not have to spell it out for you? Swansea offered £8m and Stoke offered £13m. Joe had no obligation to go to Stoke he had a year on his contract. Huw jenkins coud have engineered a deal only if Joe and his agent cooperated. in the same way Roque and Sevilla cooperated. In my judgement from afar Allen has not been at his best for Stoke and the club was relegated during his time at the club and never got anywhere near the play offs. Grimes has been more effective and has not had Joe's long injury lay offs. Joe Allen has cost Stoke around £30m. Swansea were right not to match Liverpools valuation.

Yeah, no obligation, as I said in post above, you can’t expect players to gamble their careers away to do your mates a favour. You live in a dream world, like you do in regards to the trust shares. Need to get your nose surgically removed from the old sellers a**es and stop buying into all the rubbish they are feeding you would be my advice.

I am not fed anything by anybody. I use my own brain and make my own deductions. The BBC News valuation on Burnley shocked me to my boots. £200m really? The Trust case has been mooted for 5 years. The world has moved on very quickly. Swansea was seriously underpriced in 2016 it seems. What the Trust expected to happen after relegation and what happened are completely different. Football compared to other entertainment types has proven remarkably robust. Better to be invested in football rather than cinemas or pubs that is for sure. Football income is heavily stacked towards Covid free TV coverage which can be zoomed live to peoples computers. Do you seriously think Burnley in the Premier league during Covid is worth twice Swansea city in the Premier League with no covid Risca? I do not. Inflation, the teams excellent form, and US incoming hard cash, has caught the Trust off guard. They have been wading through documents and fancy options to pay, for months on end for something they could never afford and which they do not need. Working really hard to find ways to pay their friends from London's exhorbitant fees with the shares they bought for pennies with their Welsh mates. The Burnley valuation should have also shocked them. They need a valuation of Swansea city in the premier league. The sellers will be delighted to take the Trusts shares at half price do you not think Risca? Legal action is only great for shareholders of a club sliding down the leagues. That is not Swansea. Why sue for the undercooked 2016 price with huge fees and agro to come? They can get that money now seling their shares in the championship. They might get £13m -14m after costs in court. Derby County is up for sale at £60m and rock bottom and similar in size to Swansea . Whats 21% of £60m oh look its £12.6m. Its a fag packet calc of course. Going to court is a massive expensive waste of time. 21% of Burnley is worth £42m. This is a fact. Swansea being very conservative £30-35m in the PL perhaps?. Not £13m won in court. I give out considered seemingly original thoughts and get back abuse. The fag packet numbers are not even contested. I call on this fine independent forum to get an independant financial advisor to look at the facts and give an opinion. Preferable from somewhere in Spain where petty local politics mean nothing. What in your opinion is Swansea city worth in the Premier league Risca? Tell me your opinion. The bench marks are Burnley £200m PL and Derby £60m in Championship.

And what if the Americans sell their holding company (and therefore the shares they own and voting rights) and the trust are excluded again like the last deal the Americans were involved with?

Not unwarranted. The man from Risca dished out some abuse. I have a right to defend myself. I have not criticised the Trust. I have simply explained to my Gwent fellow fan how they have ended up following a misguided course due to some quirks of fate. The selling of the US holding company argument is a distraction. It is irrelevant. If there are buyers for Swansea city they will buy the cheapest valued priced shares first. It is the Trust job to do a proper valuation (something they need to work on) and put the price in the New York Times. These shares are all voting shares. The US people would want to avoid under cutting and therefore would be forced to negotiate to avoid the Trust contacting a selling agent in the USA on thier own or asking for bids. Its the most relevant aspect of all. You cannot possibly say the trust's shares would be bought first. That would be a big risk for any potential buyer if then they couldn't for some reason buy the holding company. And of course our current owners only wanted to buy a majority controlling stake, what's stopping the next buyers doing the same?

These are the hazards of share ownership. If you buy general shares like BP or Vodafone there is an open market and there are always buyers and sellers. More specialist shares are not so easy to sell. Agents are employed to sell your shares. The possiblity of being stitched up works both ways. a) The Minority shareholder could be left high and dry without a pre sale agreement on one hand for a part sale of the club's controlling interest only. b) The minority shareholders could hijack /block a deal for a 100% shareholder and demand extra cash for their shares with out a presale agreement. The shareholders would need to come to a joint agreement to avoid both these possibilities especially if they do not trust each other. These issues were probably sticking issues for the failed 2017 talks at a guess. An agreement was required.

The RS you make some decent points, particularly around valuations & the robustness of the Prem league in financial terms - have to say it’s not helped by your continual criticism of the Trust & it’s actions (or lack thereof) but I’ll ignore that for now. IF (& that’s still a big one) we were to go up clearly the value of the club would uplift significantly (probably by 3, 4 or even 5 times) so I tend to agree that taking legal action - if that is the right course of action - by the Trust would definitely be worth holding until the outcome becomes clear (based on time lapse so far cannot see that being an issue). That said I’m sure the bulk of our American owners would happily take a profit on their investment if we went up too so it will also be important for the Trust to maintain a good & open communication channel to try to avoid being excluded from any future sale as that would, potentially, give the Trust the chance to either bank a significant pot for future protection of the club or possibly grow their 21% to 25% to prevent subsequent exclusion. Clearly risks are considerable (1) we don’t go up so the £60M valuation starts to look optimistic, (2) our American friends use NDAs & sell privately excluding the Trust again & (3) getting too valuation focused - valuations of football clubs are notoriously fickle & a lot like antiques/intellectual property etc can fluctuate hugely & always depend on having a willing and able buyer.

There's also the possibility with the current situation that a court date could be some way off anyway, im assuming covid will have caused a backlog etc. By which point we could well know in which division we will be playing in next season anyway. Which doesn't concern me much anyway due to all the other variables involved.

I am concerned with logic. The US owner can make life difficult fo the Trust and the Trust can make life difficult for the US people. They need to work together. The potential rewards of the club returning to the PL are massive for both. In fighting over a sale in 2016 is now only of historical interest and should be treated a a learning exercise. The Trust need to ditch the people that advised legal action. A win in court will see n theory the sellers forced to buy the Trusts shares at half the current PL price. The 2016 price. This only makes sense in Swansea were falling down the leagues not in the hunt for promotion. Swansea have not been outside the top 30 sides for over 10 years. The decision to press the button has not been made yet. It could prove to be a £30m disaster for the Trust in my opinion. Members need to be asking their leaders some very tough questions. 21% of Burnley's club is worth a whopping £42,000,000. I suggest and independant review before any momentous step is made. BUT ,it involves the club and football is pretty incestuous a business.Word gets around. I want my club to be united, attractive and lucrative for a potential purchaser. The potential for Swansea ,if it were marketted properly, would eclipse utterly that of a small poverty struck town within a hours drive of a dozen sizeable clubs . We should be utterly investable big time ;that we havent is simply shocking
