The transfer situation at Swansea is positive and this is why - Big signing coming in ? 17th Jan 2021 12:05
This month the swans have taken a few hits on their loan investments as January moves forwards. More players to go and more players in, that’s positive - and we simply have to trust the model that has gone before is the model for moving on, positively. Swans latest transfer news 0

I don't disagree the big one would have been CH, but reading this article it seems as if Cooper wanted to atleast replace the three lads that left so I wouldn't be surprised to see a permanent come in now, suppose it depends on how much we have to give Villa in regards to loan fee.

One more in, out and out striker needed.

Said that he wants to replace what goes out and also wanted a striker.

Byers returning along with Hourihane replaces MGW and Palmer.
Morris replaces Gykores.
Hamer was needed due Benda injury.
If we get a striker, Cullen I believe might go on loan somewhere.

The spine of the team looks solid.... Bennett, Hourihane and Ayew. That cries out experience, battle and quality in the Championship.

I reckon Morris is the striker, an out and out 9 doesn't really work in our system as Vik found out.

Got to find enough game time for Morris before worrying about signing another forward. He won't be wanting to spend as much time on the bench as Gyo.

Pain or damage don't end the world. Or despair, or f*cking beatings. The world ends when you're dead. Until then, you got more punishment in store. Stand it like a man... and give some back.

Morris is not just a striker.

OK I've changed it.

He needs to show he’s up to it in this League first

Hope he hits the ground running but can’t see him going straight in

Fair point.

Gykores is more a forward than Striker, plays out wide aswell as up top.... Similar to Morris.
Just think we need that poacher option to give us that outlet if we are chasing a game or struggling to break Down a team playing that bit deeper, Cullen could be that option but I have the feeling Cooper doesn't think he is ready at this time in moment.

Agreed, and Morris is a Lowe mark2 from what I hear, which suits our style.

Lowe will need more rest given how hard he grafts - so Morris could be a perfect "finisher" as Eddie Jones likes to call his subs. And if he's as good as Lowe, they can alternate the finishing role.

So biggest gap / opportunity for a Biggy coming in is.....?

Sense and Im hoping that Lowe is supported so as he is not run into the ground. He has been incredible but rather like Road Runner. He has to be controlled.

The team next up could be very interesting.

"Great teams always have a Plan B. Look at Barcelona their Plan B is to stick to Plan A".

Not saying we're yet a great team, but why change our winning model with a Cullen/Vik that doesn't fit ? Seems sensible to stick with Plan A, and Morris fits, fingers crossed.

Agreed. And tell Daps that Byers is no replacement for Palmer either. I don’t think he’s anywhere near Coopers’ plans

Key to our spine is CDM, and Grimes our captain. Fulton can deputise and can Smith - but neither are as adept.

Interestingly maybe CH can also play there - seems to read the game well, razor sharp passer and likes to put himself about - may suit him to drop deeper as he's getting into his 30s. Definitely good cover for CDM and/or allows Grimes to push on to pull the strings further upfield.

Gives cooper more tactical options mid match, To go three up front with Morris out side, or switch with Lowe. Put Morris ahead of a four in midfield across the field. He is quick, able to break through defences from deep with his pace..I can see this working with Smith. Grimes and Hourihane behind him and a back three with a sweeper or four as we know it.

Frees up so many other options the signing of these two players.

OK I've changed it.

Morris is a winger who has occasionally played CF,. From what I have seen and read he is similar to Lowe he arrived. That should suit Cooper who rarely subs but when he does it is usually like for like.
The long piece from a Sounders fan (PS) has lowered my expectation, probably a good thing, of a player I was getting excited about.

Daps could have a point actually if the quotes by Stowell are anything to go by, Coopers feelings may have changed since Wycombe however.

<<Stowell said: “I spoke to Steve (Cooper) earlier in the season when they played Wycombe and there was a need for a number nine because Andre Ayew and Jamal Lowe — as talented as they are — were not a focal point.

“But there was always a feeling that if Swansea could stay in the hunt and then get a number nine in January then they’d have a terrific chance, and they’re right there.”>>

Problem is, we bring a 9 in now, I don't anticipate him ever dropping Lowe or Ayew, I don't anticipate him playing wingers, I also don't anticipate him ever making changes unless forced to with injuries or being 2 goals down, so how do we fit all of these in if he was to bring an out and out 9 in.

Having Morris on board gives us the chance to rest Ayew as well as Lowe. Wouldn't be surprised to see AA on the bench occasionally just to give him a bit of a rest. Can't be far off playing the full 90 in most of our league games.

Gyokeres just wasn't the right fit for the way we've ultimately ended up playing. Morris suits us much better.

Good point - loads of options, fluidity.

The way you described it sounds like we're doing a Liverpool, with Ayew our Firmino, Lowe our Mané and maybe Morris for Salah. None of which were traditional out and out strikers.

Or a Brentford - For BMW, read LAM ?

Without quality cover a long injury for either Lowe or Ayew out for over a month would effectively end Swansea's automatic promotion push.

Both these players especially Ayew should be rested and not overtrained. Morris and perhaps another also allows for a push to get FA cup TV money and a crack at NF and Man City. £500,000 up for grabs.

The manager will have to have a "little chat" with Lowe and Ayew to help them understand subbing them is not something that should cause any sort of 'strop'. The heirarchy at the club must be honoured and discipline is "non negotiable"

Would fit the teaser Chief, just not sure what I think but if it’s on a pay as you play guess there is minimal risk (if true of course)
