He's obviously some way off PL standard at the moment, which is entirely understandable given how much football he missed between the world cup junior trophy and joining us. He's a player for whom the hype outpaced actual development. Next season in the Championship will be good for him, if he can establish himself ahead of McBurnie, Sharp and McGoldrick. Can't see there being much demand for any of them. |
You and Klopp ? I'm stunned, what did he say about recent results ? Where does he get his glasses from ?

| Mcberniebrewster on 22:03 - Feb 8 by ReslovenSwan1 | McBurnie is actually a good player. A Multi purpose vehicle. He can be a No10 a No9 or play on the wing. He was a supporting player to Keiffer Moore at Barnsley. He can pass he can dribble and he is one of the best headers of the ball in the PL and he links up play smoothly.. In a decent tream like last years Sheff utd he scored 7. He could get 10 or so at Southampton or Leeds . Look at Mitorovic. Unplayable in the Championship, iuseless in the PL. Glen Murray was still playing gettiing a handful of goals at Rochdale when he was 24. I think Jamal Lowe would struggle as a forward in the PL and would need a season to develop. |
McBurnie is not a winger, McBurnie is not a No10. The boy needs to be reminded he is a No9. Judged on goals. I have seen him as a winger and a 10 - and he enjoys it. His problem is that he does not get the shirt as a winger or a 10. Not good enough, others are better. He has a chance as a 9 only. He needs to focus solely on that.

| Mcberniebrewster on 23:39 - Feb 8 by ReslovenSwan1 | Neutrals and the media tend to always take Liverpool's side of the story in most cases. Not sure why. Sterling was painted as a money grabber for not doffing his cap to the Liverpool greats. Swansea have a decent history with Liverpool going back to the Toshack era obviously but none of that is relevant now. I got the impression that Duncan wanted to play first team football. Perhaps he might have been treated like Brewster if he had shown the same loyalty. Even Swansea fans trash their own chairman in deference to the migthty red chicken. Joey Allen was lobbed a n £8m soft ball offer to accept and push through his club but Joey satuted the red flag and went to Stoke for £5m more. Fans laughably believe Joey wanted to come to Swansea. If he did why did he do what he was told by a German not his Welsh firends? |
No, Joey wasn't offered £8m, his employers were, who were offered £12m by another club, there was only one option for Joey. As there was for Rhian Brewster funnily enough.
| Mcberniebrewster on 07:56 - Feb 9 with 930 views | 34dfgdf54 | It was clear for anyone with an ounce of sense that Sheffield United was a poor move for Brewster, Liverpool wanted to cash in though and players like Brewster don't dictate to Liverpool what happens (See Allen, Wilson for reference) He is an outstanding finisher, but brings very little in terms of link up play, pace to stretch defences, for a team who will more often than not need to battle it out and feed on scraps against premier league defences, he was always going to come up short. McBurnie a much better option for them at present. Though it's a whole different ball game for him in Championship next season. | | | |

Played his best football for us as a 10. The Stoke game where DJ scored the curler was as good as we looked as a team under Potter, goalkeeper excepted.

If Joey told Klopp he is not going to Stoke he would be at Swansea. Simple. it would involved some arm twisting and negotiation but Joey held all the cards. Only 12 month on his contract and no offer on the table. Effectively Klopp forced Joey out and told Joey where to take his family. Joey obeyed the wishes of Liverpool not Swansea.

In what world would Liverpool accept a bid almost £5m lower than what they already have on the table. You try to spin something out of every mistake the old board made, it's gone now, most people are over it, there's no need to be continually coming on here pedaling lies to justify the decisions of 4 seasons ago. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

It simply demonstrates that you do not know how shrewd people make the system work for them. Joey did not have to go to Stoke and Brewster did not need to go to Sheffield Utd. Both had contracts. People on this board will see Liverpool's point of view but throw out Swansea's by abusing their own chairman. That includes you. Pretty poor if you ask me.

| Mcberniebrewster on 16:01 - Feb 9 with 759 views | Thornburyswan | Not sure I agree they are ‘poor players’ but at £43M they did get ripped off, just like most relatively new Premiership sides do as they try to build their squad to stay up - neither are/were proven at that level & both have struggled to establish themselves, to be fair to Brewster he’s not had much of a chance either. Assuming they keep them both they will be fine next season in the Championship once they settle & actually score a few goals. | | | |

I don’t think anyone has said they’re “ poor players “ But they don’t look Premier League quality ...or anywhere near £40,000,000 worth In Brewster case he’s had 17 games on the League alone for Sheff Utd albeit a lot of them as a sub but he’s been on the pitch for a lot of minutes with no goals despite plenty of chances and attempts He’s still young and will improve. McBurnie on the other hand isn’t going to get any better but both are good enough to do well in the Championship aren’t they

| Mcberniebrewster on 22:30 - Feb 8 by ReslovenSwan1 | Brewster made a bad mistake in 2018 signing a 5 year contract on presuambly relatively low wages. Liverppol have been quite brutal with him, selling him on for big money with a buy back clause and sell on cluases. According to them he was two seasons too young to play Premier league football but they sold him to Sheffiedl Utd anyway. Brutal. I am a supporter of responsible capitalism but this to move smacks of 'grab a fast buck' and run. The player is not their concern the bottm line is their concern. They have history with Robbie Duncan and made his quest for contractual freedom a misery. Sterling still gets grief. Liverpool the media darlings are a nasty piece of work. Duty of care for young players forget it. Neco Williams will have a 5 year deal in front of him. I would advise him no more thant three. The Arsenal plyrs are a lot shrewder and none sign long deals to give themselves maximum wriggle room. |
Hang on, not to stick up for Liverpool but its up to the player if they sign a contract and Brewster could have decided to stay at Liverpool, they couldn't force him to move. Blaming it all on the club isn't right, how many times have we seen a player hold a club to ransom? It swings both ways. Some young players think themselves better than they are and many get found out. The bottom line is something all clubs and players think about. I've no idea what wages Brewster is on at the Blades but I'm sure he didn't go there for a pittance. Maybe we should be asking who advised Brewster? For my money agents have a lot to answer for and they are also all about the bottom line. Agents have been known to engineer moves for the signing on fee and have also been known to lie about wages earned to get their client a big pay rise, which they usually get a percentage of.

It’s difficult for Brewster to be chucked on with ten minutes or less left when they’re two nil down. It amazes me he doesn’t start when you look at some of the journeymen in front of him like mcgoldrick and sharp who are both ageing and never done much at premier league level.

I agree with you and I like Brewster But check the stats in his 18 league games now and he’s played a lot more montes than you’d think or expect I thought he’d do well but he’s missed chances and I don’t think he fits in too well with their more direct style He is the type of player who might well go on a run when he gets one but he’s not doing the business yet ...
