Never again. He didn’t want it today and bottled it completely.

Not good enough to start for us, not even close.

When you watch back the game tell me if the chances both Smith & Dhanda (not worthy of a jersey) missed would not of been executed by Hourihane.

the chances you talk about about wouldn’t happen if hourihane was playing. The boy has a decent left peg but he is absolutely dreadful in general play and is a complete liability. We are a poorer team with him in it.

He bottled it today aswell. Didn’t fancy it at all.

He injured himself with his poor touch and having to stretch into a challenge with Bacuna.

Yeah I agree but I’m not convinced he was hurt, he bottled out for me. He’s really left us wanting since signing with his all round play he’s a complete liability.

Why would he feign an injury you are doing an honest professional a disservice there.

Poll: Would you like Cooper to stay or go (regardless of compensation situation)

It's been a crap day losing to that shower and a Grand slam in injury time yes I like rugby as well.

If he wasn't injured, why were the medics strapping his hamstring on the touchline??

Everyday above ground ... Is a good day! 😎

And our worst run of performances all season which has lead us to here...we played better when he went off.

Anyone disagree with that?

Nope, Smith was poor for me to, few of players were quiet today though, we've seen better from them

I hate to dig our own players out, but we just seem to have more possession and control of midfield when he isn’t playing.

He’s such a clean striker of the ball and he has that ability to pop up at the right time. I’d be happy to see him at 0-0 after 70 minutes, just don’t think he merits a start at the moment.

Hourihane offers more in 5 mins on the pitch than Dhanda or Smith offer in a season

Oh for Connors composure to be on the chance that both Smith had in the box or Dhanda had at the edge of the box.

We have some deluded fans

Hourihane is dog shit

Deal with it mate!

If you can see that, you can't see football.

At least Hourihane is actually an attacking midfield player.

The fact that we regularly have Korey Smith as our most advanced midfield player when he is very obviously:
a) Not an attack minded player
or
b) Shall we say, er... not technically our most gifted player.
is immensely frustrating. He's a defensive midfield player, as evidenced by his nearly non-existent goal scoring record over the years. He isn't somebody you want on the ball in or around the opposition's box.

Apart from dead balls and set pieces what exactly is attacking about Hourihane?

I’m unsure if we have our wires crossed but I’d have Hourihane on the pitch over both Dhanda & Smith.

Dhanda is a national league player at best, Smith is decent but offers no attacking threat.

You miss a massive aspect here

The chances you talk about about don't come about with Hourihane on the pitch as we don't build up plays to get us that far.

I. have. never. seen. a. more. flat. footed. slow. player. in. all. my. days. of. watching. the. Swans.

We’ll see how long he’s out for.

I don’t think he fancied it at all. None of them to be honest first half but with the extra legs in midfield when Smith came on we seemed to take control of game. Smith’s final ball etc was poor I agree but we cannot keep carrying Hourihane, we aren’t good enough for passengers.

How can anyone be 50/50

The boy can’t/won’t run. He’s a very, very poor footballer with a half decent set piece.

Smith/grimes/Fulton

I can’t see how it’s even a debate

Oh, I don't know, the fact that he has carved out a good career for himself as an attacking midfield player at this level? Ask any villa fan and they'll tell you he was a key part of their promotion side.

Yes, he's been pretty poor from open play since he's been here and I have serious concerns about his mentality too but to pretend he isn't a good enough player for this level is nonsense. A quick look at his career history tells you that. Or has he just conned the Barnsley and Villa fans who rate him so highly?

So besides having 6 goal involvements (5 goals, 1 assist) in 13 appearances (basically a goal involvement every other game when you consider how soon he came off yesterday) how exactly is he attacking?

Hourihane will probably score more this season for us than Smith has up to this point in his entire career.

He is an exceptional dead ball talent, and that’s it, and even that has disappeared in recent times.
Fully agree, he offers little as it stands compared to his first few games where he was a revelation. It was only after those initial games passed that it was more than evident he has very little to offer the side as it is set up - and as a Cooper wants it to play.

A great believer in taking anything you like to wherever you want to.

How he performed for Villa ,his employees ,and u are chalk and cheese.
That said,it matters not who is selected. The problem is more basic than that.

It is all about recruitment of players.

Your last sentence is the key.

Hourihane is looking like another Gomis type situation for me. A player more than capable of making a big contribution, a player with an excellent track record everywhere else, but also a player the current manager has no idea what to do with.

If we weren't a static, largely defensive minded team without much of a game plan beyond passing it about between defence and midfield before booting it into a channel for someone to chase we might be seeing a bit more of him.

Pain or damage don't end the world. Or despair, or f*cking beatings. The world ends when you're dead. Until then, you got more punishment in store. Stand it like a man... and give some back.

It's a luxury to have a dead ball expert that does very little else.It also means for him to be effective you have to get within 25 yards by going forward.

Agree completely with you on this one. He’s a talented player, but he’s an out and out luxury.

If we were dominating teams we could possibly afford a passenger who comes up with one or two game changing moments, but the way we play, we need our three central midfielders to be involved in the quick transition from defence to attack.

Impact sub.

I’m assuming they had legs all around him. Their fans say his legs had gone.

He’s not a rubbish footballer, that’s harsh me even implying that to be honest, but he’s not the right player for us for how we play at the moment. Nowhere near.

I’m with you Dr, for me our only two options with him are up top behind Ayew but we then have zero pace & no out ball or ability to counter-attack.

Or with a flat back four in a 4-2-3-1 or 4-3-1-2 but that loses our WB attacking options & with no other width we become very narrow.

His injury might be a blessing in disguise as it might force Cooper to adapt.
