I don’t think he fancied it at all. None of them to be honest first half but with the extra legs in midfield when Smith came on we seemed to take control of game. Smith’s final ball etc was poor I agree but we cannot keep carrying Hourihane, we aren’t good enough for passengers.
Not carrying Hourihane I think you are caught up in the emotion of a defeat yes It's hard to take.
But if he was not injured why did they spend 10 minutes putting his leg in a bandage.
But how you can have a pop at Hourihane when Dhanda is on the field is beyond belief.
If it was upto me he would never play for the club again.
Last season we had George Byers cant even get in the Portsmouth side now.
If you are going to blame players for yesterday you are picking on the wrong one.

Yeah you’re right my words were more harsh immediately after the defeat. I don’t think Hourihane is a rubbish player, I just don’t think he’s the player for this system and us at the moment. I do think we need to carry him though and we are just good enough to do that.
We look a better side with Smith/Grimes/Fulton in there at the moment with Hourihane used as an impact player unless we change formation.

I think it’s more the last month or so than yesterday. Dhanda is a bit part player who occasionally starts against the weaker teams. Hourihane (or to be more accurate the lack of an energetic, mobile midfielder around Grimes and Fulton) has been integral to the downturn in form.

Yes he is not a rubbish player got promoted with Villa but I suspect they had a better side than us when they went up
To be fair he has scored 5 since he has been with us including the only goal at Luton got into an attacking position for that one. Also got the tackle in that led to the penalty against Boro.
A lovely left foot yes would be great if he got involved a bit more but if he did Villa would not have let him go.
But my opinion is without him we would be sweating on a play off place now and not 3rd in the league.

Bidwell won the penalty against Boro but agree with other points. I stand by I think we are a better side with him coming on later though.
His injury yesterday highlighted another of his many weaknesses - his ball control is pathetic, he seems to be almost incapable of bring a ball under control - what he did yesterday was ridiculous. Hopefully it keeps him out of the team for a couple of months.

Hourihane offers more in 5 mins on the pitch than Dhanda or Smith offer in a season
Oh for Connors composure to be on the chance that both Smith had in the box or Dhanda had at the edge of the box.
We have some deluded fans

Composure is absolutley useless if you don't have the Ball. He doesn't bother to go and get it. His composure and dead ball have not helped our cause much lately have they? He may "offer" more but does not necessarily deliver it of late.
Lets see how badly Hourihane is injured but when he first did it shouldn't they have been using ice to help stop swelling, the compression bandage should have been put on after. Cooper says he they don't know how bad it is yet but I don't think it's that bad or his reaction would have been different and he was barely limping walking off.
As somebody else said, if his control hadn't been so rubbish he wouldn't have been in that position.
How did you see Hourihane being bandaged up for ten whole minutes? Were you there?
And how would the medical staff know he was injured? Did they do the scan in those ten minutes as well?
The sheer fact fans even think he didn't fancy it yesterday speaks volumes about him and what he 'brings' to the team.
He's been a massive problem that Cooper is too small-time to do anything about.
Again the balme for not dealing with what we all see is an issue with Hourihane is laid at Cooper's door.
Yes he is the manager but as I have brought up on several threads he too has to answer to others. He has benched Hourihane so he has possibly recognised the problem but perhaps there is guaranteed minutes clause in his loan deal, Coopers bosses are unhappy paying out good wedge for somoene to sit on the bench? But immediately the balme is put at Coopers door!

Yes Cooper has got soem things wrong this season..but not to the extent which warrants the abuse he receives
We are all entitled to opinions, and as I have previously said we wont all agree. Im happy for criticism if managers and players but often it is dine with high emotion and not actually considering all the facts.
Lets be fair even Tosh hgot criticised...for persiting with Dai the drop Davies and Glan let em in Letheran...

Good. Im pleased to read that. I was getting worried about you,Bruv.

He's been pulled out of the Irish squad with a hamstring injury.

With all due respect you’re very wrong there. Smith has been sublime in parts this season , always competitive and a good eye for a pass for a DM. He along with Grimes and Fulton are our best midfield. If we still had MGW I’d play him instead of grimes with the other two backing him up.
MGW performances showed way more than Connor Hourihane has for us and he only played a handful of games. We don’t have special teams in the EFL so Hourihane has to start on the bench every game
Each time I go to Bedd - au........................

Yiou can't be that naive surely? There's no such thing as a guaranteed minutes in a loan deal. Maybe if the lad didn't get x amount of minutes they can be called back but what idiot manager is going to persist in playing someone that is just so off the pace - oh yeah, Cooper.
No mate, the only thing he's trying to justify is the fact he's asked for big bucks to bring him here. That and the fact the owners gave him bonus signings in Morris and Arriola and he's been reluctant to play them.
I said to Risca when Arriola and Morris landed off the plane and we were discussing if Cooper wanted them and whether he would play them, I said it will be fine if Cooper keeps winning because ultimately that's all that's important to the Americans, but as soon as the wins stop and he still hasn't given them a fair crack they will come down on him.
And rightly so.
I get the feeling the owners and Winter have little time for Cooper - just a hunch but there's been a few clues.
So to summarise - who goes in the team, that buck stops at the managers door, no one else.

They had Grealish and Mcginn, one is perhaps world class and the other was the second best player in the Championship that season and has hit the ground running in the EPL.
Plus that tackle v Boro you keep mentioning never happened. Not sure I've seen him make a tackle since he's been here.
