| If Cooper is out........ on 07:08 - Apr 3 by jack247 | I don’t think we will need a big budget for a manager whenever Cooper does go. As a stepping stone, managing a championship club is massive exposure for any young manager. Do well and he’s going to get snapped up by a bigger club. I don’t think they’ll go down the Rangel route. It’s too much of an unknown. A Wagner type is more likely, I can’t see him, as an example, being in a position to price us out with salary demands. |
Fair points & tend to agree, a top 6/8 Championship side with good facilities reasonable starting squad - once you’ve returned all the loanees & let our out of contract players go (Ayew, Nauts etc) we will require 6 - 10 new players probably 4/5 of those via the loan market. A modest budget with aspiration of aiming at the play-offs would attract a fair number of ambitious young managers.

This is the real crime here - we’ve gambled on loan players this season and if we don’t go up we’ll have f*ck all money to replace them with. Promotion this season is imperative

Which is true and why personally I've been prepared to give Cooper the benefit of the doubt for playing a system that has by hook or by crook got us in a position to challenging for promotion. Whether it'll now get through the play offs i don't know.

But by the other side of the coin, without loaning them there is no way we would be able to afford the type of player that we have got - meaning its very unlikely we would be in the position we are in (in terms of pushing for promotion). It is the last year of parachute payments this year too so Ayew won't be able to be re-signed and maybe Conor will have to be shipped.

Joe Allen is a bright lad and could well make a good boss in the future, but let's not limit ourselves to names with previous connections. There's a big, wide world of coaches out there. Some of them can even play decent football too. [Post edited 3 Apr 2021 10:24]

| If Cooper is out........ on 10:28 - Apr 3 with 1112 views | onehunglow | It doesn't really matter.Right now,Cooper is killing players and the club. He has been very lucky until now and some have seen this coming. It has been inevitable. Simply look at Cooper and imagine yourself a a player. I pray somebody will be dumb enough to take him as I think the football world in England has seen through this chap. | |

| If Cooper is out........ on 11:39 - Apr 3 with 1081 views | jack247 | No club is ever going to pay their manager off with 8 games to go, while they are in third place. No matter how badly they have been playing for the previous 6 weeks. We’ve got the manager and the squad we’ve got until the end of the season. If we bomb in the playoffs, or bomb catastrophically and miss them, it’s very much a shout in the summer. | | | |
| If Cooper is out........ on 12:10 - Apr 3 with 1066 views | Joe_bradshaw | Barnsley found Ismael and he looks the real deal. He would have come to Swansea on whatever wages we pay so it’s reasonable to think that there are others like him out there. | |

He left for a senior management job after interviewing for the job here and the club going with another candidate, it's hardly "walking out".

Playing top standard means nothing...Coleman has failed at every club side he managed apart from Fulham where it was div 3 or league 2 whatever you want call it....with international and premiere league players every where else he failed..not sure hartson got his coaching badge.....to shack or ian evatt for me...

Alex Neil a no from me but the second would be a good choice. One downside is now with Brexit it seems as if we would get problems using his Spanish connections to be able to bring players over here if what badlands etc are saying is correct.

Will be harder, will limit to top leagues in Europe and the points system will not just limit us to international players..... Will be harder as stated but shouldn't be a major issue in the main European leagues. Another thing that it will open up is looking at continents where we were restricted on work permits before like South America, North America and Africa. Scouting networks will now have avenues to look down that they have been restricted to for many a year, any decent scout would be licking their lips now.

It you mean the Cyprus league then yes.... The Cymru Premiership gets undeserved stick. Cyprus is less than half the population of Wales. Was like being in charge of Connahs Quay Nomads. And backed by the super rich. And never lasted long. Not sure what it proves ? 🤷â€â™‚ï¸ Coleman and/or Hartson will give us some much needed hwyl. [Post edited 4 Apr 2021 12:45]

Possible reason for this.. "Since we bought Barnsley three years ago we have been heavily using data. We use it mainly to identify talented young players and coaches as well. It is proving very successful." When Mr Lee took over in December 2017 Barnsley was struggling in the Championship and subsequently relegated, but the club bounced back immediately and returned to the division in his first full season in charge. He credits the use of data as a key contributor to winning promotion. So what does he look for in the data? "We are looking for players and coaches that play the style that we want, and that is very much a passing game." But he is very careful about overspending when it comes to players, data systems and analysts. "We have to balance the budget. The pandemic has shown how difficult it can be to survive when you don't do this." https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/bus
