I’ve got to do some roofing tomorrow and don’t want to fall asleep twenty metres in the air on a dodgy Spanish roof 😂

| Massive changes ahead for European football and the super league announcement on 07:28 - Apr 19 with 1218 views | Dr_Winston | This has its roots far more in the evolution of the European Cup to the Champions League than in the Premier League. The straight knockout EC had lots of different winners. The revenue generated by the UCL has resulted in the elite level we see now, which largely translates to domestic dominance for them also. For all the bipping about the Premier League, it's perhaps the most competitive of the major European Leagues thanks to the equitable distribution of TV money. | |

I should think the players would have to sign new contracts to play in a new super league. They will probably be able to walk away from the big six and join any club in the PL or EFL on a free transfer. Wonder how the PL will fill the six gaps in it's ranks

Introduce Celtic and Rangers if they don’t sign up. I can’t see them promoting the top six in the championship. .

I think we need to make very sure of a top 6 finish. If they jump Celtic and Rangees in, then the court cases would fly out. They might get away with top 6 and Celtic and Rangers, with 5 relegated that year or something ?

They probably won't relegate any team . Trouble is no-one knows when the actual super league will start I can see a lot of their players deciding not to stay with the big six especially their young players who currently go on loan to other PL and EFL TEAMS.

The players are already under contract. And the wages would be increased dramatically, maybe ? And the standard will be the very best. The players will stay. Thats the whole point. Thats what they are selling. I suspect it will end international careers though.

Moves afoot to implement that banning of players. It seems similiar to the rebel tours during Apartheid. Greedy barsturds. No more,no less.

When anyone talks about greed in football on the platform that helped to create the breakaway Premier League which has resulted in the rich getting so much richer it’s hard to take them seriously.

It’s odd, here in Spain most people I talk to about football haven’t heard of them. Swansea however.

The players are already under contract but this is a new competition that isn't part of their agreements. If it ends international careers players might argue breech of contract by the clubs and UEFA and FIFA would back them. I guess it'll come don to what the contract is between the clubs and the EPL. What really stinks is the managers at these clubs complain about too many games but then this which means another 18 games. It'll end the Champions league I know but how many of these teams will play in 18 CL games a season, it's 10 at most for these big clubs. On Sky right now they are reporting that a board member of one of the teams says they don't care about bad PR, it is all about maximising revenue. Apparently the American owners can't get their heads around why we have relegation. Chelsea and Man City were apparently reticent but in the end didn't want to be left behind in " a weakened Premier league" This is where local and ntional governments can do something. All these grounds, refuse them certificates, refuse policing so no fans can go, this can be stopped if enough people pitch in. National leagues should act quickly alongside FIFA and UEFA and kick these clubs out, ban their players. If there are any contractual arrangements with the EPL that can be argued in court then sue the clubs. Sky and BT have tv rights deals that the breakaway clubs will be in breach of, stop paying them now. Kick them out. These clubs want the penny and the bun, they want this ESl and the national leagues. I bet they'd play thir first teams in the ESL and play reserve teams in the EPL made up of youth and those recovering from injury, those out of form. [Post edited 19 Apr 2021 12:25]

| Massive changes ahead for European football and the super league announcement on 12:32 - Apr 19 with 1034 views | builthjack | Spurs havent won the English league for 60 years. Joke. Man City, until taken over were an average Joe club. Liverpool hadnt won the English league for donkeys years until last season. Arsenal are mid table and look awful. Just kick them out at the end of this season if they intend going. In a few years they will be begging to come back. Owners looking to bag more money. Simple as that. They dont give two hoots about the fans. | |

Completely takes the shine off those European nights where you get to play Real Madrid and test different styles maybe once or twice a year. To pay Real Madrid one week, Juve the next, Barca the next... loses all sort of grandeur. Over a third of your seasons games played outside of the U.K. Just awful. Football fans need to turn their backs.

If I were a Leicester fan,I d be even more seething. Talking about big super club, not sure what their criteria is but Leeds Utd certainly fits the bill,if we're talking football per se. Everton too,as big a Liverpool in the north west and possibly bigger in the city. Everton have a fabulous new 52000 stadium approved to be built very soon. As for Celtic and Rangers wanting to muscle in on this, hardly a surprise to see these champions of bigotry world wide waiting at the trough. Positive side, this will unite football fans and alienate brand followers who deserve outright contempt.

The PL and EFL were doing fine a decade ago when TV money was far lower than what it is now. Sky offering less money for the rights in the future doesn't destroy English football. Costs and wages in the lower tiers have risen in line with PL revenue increases despite their own not increasing anywhere near as rapidly. It's a dangerous bubble that's been set to burst for some time.

Equitable distribution? I don't really see it that way. I think there should have been more money for winning the title but then everybody else should have gotten the same amount. All the current structure has done is help the clubs at the top pull further away. Last season Man City got 148 million but 17th placed Villa got 105.5 million. That's 40 million to buy a player with or to psend on higher wages. It's a self reinforcing structure for those at the top end. I agree about the ECL, it's a similar structure though, set up to reward the biggest clubs and let them stretch further away. The EPl is maybe the most competitive but largely because we had 6/7 big teams against Frande and Spains 2/3. Italy had 6/7 big teams too but Italy had that financial meltdown and took a while to recover.

Now look at the disparity of TV revenue elsewhere. There are still six or seven big clubs in the PL Vs two or three precisely because of that distribution. It's not a perfect system, but immensely better than in Spain, or even Germany where Bayern have won eight on the bounce.

Everton have won 4 titles since Spurs won their last. Leicester as you say . Villa and Forest have European cups under their belts. Its all a sham. Stop them NOW.

There is no point having US owners. Why does there need to be a point? They own Swansea becuase no Welsh or British people were preapred to buy the club when the International consortium formed in Wales wanted to cash in their chips. US peope wanted to run Swansea city. Welsh people had no interest in it. Why would they? A local man did an extraordinary jobs saw the value of the SCST rise 100 fold and ended up needing security.
