| Swansea Indepenent Poster Of The Year 2021. Dr P / Mart66 / Roathie / Parlay / E20/ Duffle was 2nd, but he is deluded and thinks in his little twisted brain that he won. Poor sod. We let him win this year, as he has cried for a whole year. His 14 usernames, bless his cotton socks.

Perhaps he knows that the rules will not be obeyed in England same as people are flouting them here in Wales.

Why are the Senedd still not publishing the scientific advice that led to the rule changes in Wales?

Or perhaps we should let the elected government of this country (you know, the United Kingdom) make UK-wide decisions about such fundamental issues as 'am I allowed to open my business and make a living?'. By 'the scientists' I assume you mean the same ones who (must have?) told Drakeford that Omicron was 'probably' just as severe as Delta even when that had been proved conclusively wrong by several studies? So either Drakeford was lying to justify restrictions (God forbid!) or he was not really following the science after all.

The science clearly states that covid transmission is very low in outdoor well ventilated areas which is why we aren’t allowed to watch football outside but it’s safe to watch it in a pub as long as you get table service. Can’t argue with science.

Mr Drakeford on 10:34 - Dec 29 by Kilkennyjack | Do you object to different European countries having different rules ? Borders are not just between Cymru and the Saes. Its a pretty established and easily unferstood concept tbh. The Johnson government is letting people mix to save paying out furlough. The Johnson government are ignoring the science.

Yes but we are not in the EU. We are in one country the United Kingdom regulations should be national not set by local government officials. Doubt they have different regulations in all the countries that use to make up Germany or Italy before they each became one united country in the 19th century. [Post edited 29 Dec 2021 13:07]

They probably do, Germany for example is federal and all the different states have their own government. Not sure of their individual responses to covid though.

They can't get the same rules in the EU as record cases are being reported in most EU countries including 200,000 yesterday in France.

Germany is federal. Modern and flexible. Westmonster, under Tory, is ‘control from the centre’. Old and rubbish. Its like a bloke in London picking your house and house furnishings for you, however well intended unlikely to get it right. If you pick your own, then you will get it right. See … 👠

No just criticism of the useless Drakeford. We still have freedom of speech in the UK. 21051 new cases in Wales yesterday his silly rules have not stopped the spread.

Mr Drakeford on 20:53 - Dec 30 with 1002 views | Scotia | There's a cracking interview in WOL with Mark Drakeford, when asked, why 140 could watch Caerphilly RFC play on boxing day from inside the club house but only 50 around the pitch outside. He replied. "Well, that is a situation brought about by the club but not by the Welsh Government." Whose rules are they following then? Absolutely stupid.

Felix - i really hope you get 1 of the 4 million welsh tests. And I hope there is a big fecking dragon on the packaging. Its almost like care and planning has worked better than boasting and fibbing. Who knew ? ðŸ´ó §ó ¢ó ·ó ¬ó ³ó ¿ðŸ¤ðŸ‡ªðŸ‡º

In other words the scientists weren't absolutely sure what to do, as the situation is changing by the day if not the hour. What makes a sensible decision today, looks a foolish decision tomorrow, hindsight is a wonderful thing.

Scientists are always advising lockdowns. Even though, to a layman like me, Lockdowns achieve almost nothing. Ever. We have to move past the "lockdown. Restrict" phase. It's doing little good. We're going to have to learn to live with Covid. Vaccinate the vulnerable and get on with it.

The bottom line is Wales can't afford a lockdown without Westminster cash. It doesn't look like that is going to come soon and after that it would be too late especially with schools about to reopen.

Too late already to have any real effect. Not convinced lockdown will help now. Need to get younger kids vaccinated and as many boosted as possible, Get better LFD community testing and people being sensible around mask wearing and limiting unnecessary contact. Hopefully by mid February this will be behind us.

That of course is what being part of the UK is all about. The UK government ordered and payed for 100s millions of doses of the vaccines and then "gave " them free of charge to Wales. The British Army has also been deployed on a large scale to help Wales deliver vaccines and drive ambulances in Wales. The Welsh government clearly has 4 million surplus lateral flow testing kits which they "loaned" to England. These kits are not needed as people in Wales have tighter restrictions and have to stay at home. Don't forget the English NHS treats over 30,000 Welsh patients a year in centres of excellence in Liverpool, Manchester, Chester, Birmingham, Bristol, London and Cambridge. The Welsh NHS does not have this specialist capacity. Once again a strong United Kingdom delivers for all its citizens. Doubt they will have dragons on the boxes unless they are Chinese dragons as they are all made in China shipped to the UK and of course landed in Felixstowe as Wales does not have any container ports. I had no problem getting my test kits last week before I Travelled to Wales for Christmas. [Post edited 31 Dec 2021 13:48]

Yes, to paraphrase that great Soviet philosopher Ivan Drago “If we die, we die.” We can’t go on hiding forever. What’s the point of living if we aren’t allowed to live?
