Absolutely wonderful people. Water is freezing though but wet suits will save the chill. The Ferry can be a vomit bucket I have very happy memories of 1995,when Joey won his last Senior.I took my 12 yr old lad. On the ferry ,a very attractive pair of German ladies chatted to us and then simply lowered their leathers to reveal DD cups and tiny Thongs to sunbathe. My lad has never forgotten it.He grew up overnight |
My visit was back in 72, courtesy of the government ( no its not a penal colony) for some training and out of bound exercises. Stayed in Jurby camp and old RAF station north of the island attended the Tynewold ceremony in an official capacity but can't really remember much about it other than I think the government there is one of the oldest in the country if not further afield. You're right about the ferry , awful crossing and we were were there in June. not for the faint hearted or weak stomach thats for sure.

It's worth it just to see the mad Germans watching George Formby film "No limit" and their reactions .

Dorset is brilliant Swanage,Corfe Castle,Durdle Door,Lulworth Cove Some beautiful picture postcard places down there [Post edited 14 May 2021 7:16]

He's advised against it, as most sensible people would

Very few are sticking 100% to the rules now. From Monday it will be a free for all. The government UK and Wales, can legislate for what is allowed to open but Drakeford admitted himself this morning, enforcing any rules from Monday is impossible. He can only advise.

Perhaps Drakeford should let people decide what is essential for them. That is what most sensible leaders do .

I'd love to know what goes on in Drakeford's head and what his advisor's are pushing. My wife says it is essential we go somewhere that is hot and sunny where she can forget about the world of work for a fortnight. Her mental health is starting to flake.

Well I'm certainly not sensible, and can't wait to go.

| Family Holiday on 22:55 - May 12 by magicdaps10 | I am used to ferry mainly from west Wales over to Rosslare and then driving up to Donegal, would assume if you don't cross over from West Wales that you will be driving north to catch a ferry over.... Either way its a lot of driving. Never again for me! I will now always aim to fly over to knock and hire a car, going to Bangor then you would fly over to Belfast but I would certainly recommend fly and hire for sure. |
Was thinking of Fishguard to Rosslare, then a leisurely drive up to Bangor, maybe stop overnight if we see somewhere tidy. We also thought of touring some of my old fishing haunts in the South, then up to Bangor, but that will depend on how the lock down is going in that part of the country.

I appreciate you don’t like Drakers or WAG, but why twist what was said? “Best avoided” was the term used which is the sensible approach. NZ and OZ have restricted travel and now the citizens of both countries are enjoying freedoms we can only dream of. Last summer we saw Covid brought back in to the country from foreign travels and this year we’ve seen the SA, Brazilian and now the Indian variants brought in to the country by foreign travel. We’ve come so far and given up so much to get where we are, why risk it all now?
