We're not reliant on one bloke and his laptop any more though, thankfully. Andy Scott has been bringing in help.

As you know from being on here we both agree on that one. It’s the unsettling period June /July time which still seems to affect younger more ‘looked after’ players.

I'm not against bringing in that help, Jasper, but I do worry that we recruit players the manager doesn't wan t and won't use, the Americans, Freeman and then we have Whittaker who you have already made a very good post about. I asked more than once did we think Whittaker would be happy with being overlooked or played out of position every week.

Be smarter if he/ his agent stayed stumm to see what happens with Cooper before opening his mouth, under any new gaffer he’s not behind anyone.

| Morgan Whittaker concerned about his Swansea future EXCLUSIVE on 15:04 - Jun 9 by KeithHaynes | I would say when a very young man comes to a new city and then all of a sudden things aren’t as clear as they were then maybe ? |
Is a fair point. I thought Whittaker to be a slightly strange signing as he did not look ready to be a starter. As we were always going to sign a central striker to replace Ayew he was still going to be 3rd or 4th choice at best. It beggars the question what was Whittaker told to make him want to move here? It’s the time of year when players come and go, but there needs to be a joined up approach between recruitment and the way we play. That was our strength for many years as we recruited players who fitted the way we played. That fell apart in the seasons before relegation and I’m not convinced that link is there at the moment.

Not sure Al-Hamadi's that close to stepping up personally. This was his first full season at pro/u23s level and he was injured for most of it. Did well in a short run of games but a long way to go in other aspects of his development. His size means he might be one to jump the queue and get chances (here or a loan), though. Opposite of Cullen in many respects. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

If we lose the spine of the team and not replace them like for like or better still better players, then it'll be difficult to see us battling it out for promotion to the EPL

| Morgan Whittaker concerned about his Swansea future EXCLUSIVE on 14:35 - Jun 9 by jasper_T | He left Derby to increase his chances at first team football because despite an excellent record at u23s level as a centre forward he was being given bits and pieces out on the wing, and ends up here being given bits and pieces out on the wing. No surprise he'll be disappointed. Manager moaning about not having a centre forward the whole time he's been at the club, Cullen and Routledge given the nod ahead of him... When a player is signed for a significant fee they naturally expect more and will be worried if there's little interest in utilising him in his preferred role down the middle. |
Cooper whining about the lack of strikers whilst also selecting Routledge upfront ahead of both Cullen and Whittaker is a perfect example.

Have to ay Doc,that was where I was. Absolutely shocking to select a 36 well past his best player before 2 hungry young pros looking to progress. If Cullen has ability and talent then Cooper has done his best to curtail it.

Routledge suited that system where he dropped into midfield or swapped positions with Ayew better than either of them. I agree though, Cooper had strikers at his disposal and chose not to use them. I think the whining is just his personality. Defeatist comments go hand in hand with passing the buck after a bad performance.

| Morgan Whittaker concerned about his Swansea future EXCLUSIVE on 11:38 - Jun 10 with 633 views | jack247 | He was brought in, 6 months ago as ‘one for the future’ or words to that affect from Cooper. I don’t think he was expected to feature much last season. Be a different story if he was an experienced 30 year old. I’m not really sure what he expects here, particularly with the managers future in limbo. He’s behind Lowe and Cullen at the moment, nothing to say he can’t change that by knuckling down and impressing whoever is in charge next season. | | | |
| Morgan Whittaker concerned about his Swansea future EXCLUSIVE on 12:01 - Jun 10 with 605 views | Dr_Winston | I'm not so sure that he should be behind Cullen in the pecking order. Cullen is perhaps a more natural finisher but there seems to me to be a lot more about Whittaker's all round game. | |

| Morgan Whittaker concerned about his Swansea future EXCLUSIVE on 12:38 - Jun 10 with 569 views | ReslovenSwan1 | We have to give these players time. Players brought in from other clubs have much higher expectations on them compared to the home grown players. Whittaker for example is only 12 months older than Al Hamadi. AAH is given time and room to develop with low expectation. Joseph wants to be first team but the same age as AHH. OMB turned into a £20m footballer but was eased into the senior game. It reamins to be seen if he can become a sucessfull PL scorer. I was trying to think of the parallel and it was Asoro and Dan James. Aroso flopped with high expectation high wages and James flourished with no one expecting him to fly like he did. [Post edited 10 Jun 2021 12:41]

13 appearances for a 20 year old who joined mid-season who let's face it doesn't currently deserve a starting berth is ample time id suggest. Especially when you consider we have another youngster in Cullen also needing playing time as well the manager trying to maintain a promotion push.

If we sign Joseph then we will probably be looking to loan out one or both of them and still sign another forward as a starter. If he is asking questions about where he stands it shouldn’t come as a surprise to anyone.
