Huddersfield facts, stats, cats, mats and horses
In an era of progression, technology and intelligencia we concentrate on the Yorkshire folk of football. When the first car was seen in Huddersfield they hung it like a monkey left hanging from a north eastern tree. The result was complete horror, for a bit, then the exhaust was removed and they had a big feast. Later the car was moved to a local museum yet to be built. Many people converse with very little words in Huddersfield, basically just nodding at each other saying “I know, I know” Simply explained they know everything. It’s a revelation indeed.

Proof if it were ever needed

Huddersfield has the third highest of number of listed buildings in the country. The population of Huddersfield borough is approximately 270,000 making it the largest town in England. The list was drawn up by Joseph Lister an infection control specialist and list professional. When this was revealed in 1978 the people of Huddersfield already knew this. Other notable things about Huddersfield is they had the worlds largest nodding dog, until all the locals kept nodding at it as it nodded back. Harold Wilson the pipe smoking nasal sounding tobacco head is from Huddersfield.

It’s the weekend Russell Martin has to deliver 24th Sep 2021 17:54
I’m seeing the signs are you ? The extra shots, the braver football, the more dominance of the ball, and players not in the starting eleven being able to come in to the side and do the same, we saw that at Brighton. Yes, it’s all got clarity for me. 0

Swansea City raring to go against Huddersfield Town 25th Sep 2021 09:22
It’s the home game Russell Martin has been waiting for since the goalless returns against Hull City and Millwall. Since then an admirable and spirited fight back against Luton Town, and a back slapping performance with nine team changes against Brighton has been the return. However, today swans fans will want to see goals and points. 0

Swansea City: Ben Hamer; Ben Cabango, Kyle Naughton, Ryan Manning; Ethan Laird, Flynn Downes, Matt Grimes (captain), Jake Bidwell; Olivier Ntcham, Jamie Paterson; Joel Piroe.

Substitutes: Steven Benda, Jay Fulton, Korey Smith, Brandon Cooper, Liam Cullen, Joel Latibeaudiere, Liam Walsh.

Huddersfield Town: Lee Nicholls, Harry Toffolo, Matty Pearson, Jonathan Hogg (captain), Lewis O'Brien, Sorba Thomas, Ollie Turton, Fraizer Campbell, Danel Sinani, Levi Colwill, Tom Lees.

Substitutes: Giosue Bellagambi, Alex Vallejo, Mipu Odubeko, Josh Koroma, Scott High, Duane Holmes, Naby Sarr.

It’s a win at last !

Swansea City turn on the first half style to win their first home game of the season 25th Sep 2021 17:29
It wasn’t a pretty second half but it was a glamorous and scintillating first half that gave the swans all the points this afternoon at the swansea.com stadium. The lack of home wins no longer needs to be mentioned, and the vast majority of Swansea City fans will be more than happy tonight. 0

Yeah it was an excellent first half.
The work rate was brilliant.
Fitness to play like that twice a week is going to take some time.

Yes.

First half outstanding. Could easily have gone in three or four up. Second half, well, in certainly wouldn't have made those subs. Ntcham going off shortly after only exacerbated it. We had nothing in the final third for the last 20-25 minutes.

Still, a win is a win.

Maybe his work rate and pressing?
He didn't stop when he came on. Winning balls in his own half and holding the ball up well in the corner at the end.
Worked really hard when he came on.
Would Whittaker have done all that hard work? We don't know. But maybe Martin thinks he does.

This. And no I don't think Whits would have done the same, think he was overeager though otherwise he'd have a goal with his name on it, shame really.

yep, needs a few points like that now and again to give him some breathing space to work things out on the training ground, suspect his system ain't ready to match fulham yet, unless they let us play keepball.

Baffling.

Were you both at the match? I ask as he had run his legs and signalled he was done Paterson as well. They were both absolutely excellent closing down from the front and as soon as Smith and Cullen came on were at them again.

Cullen has to do that as he cannot score whereas Whittaker can and has done.

We needed to put that game to bed and didn't again.

This won't be enough against better teams.

Cabango the "liability " did ok I thought .

Pateson again lightweight.

Still,it's a win

Possibly, but I wouldn't have replaced Paterson with Smith. I'd have brought Walsh on and at least had Whitts on the bench.

Loathe as I am to echo our Jonah from Birkenhead, I'm not seeing enough in Cullen to justify the faith being shown in him.

I would go as far to say that was the best team performance ive seen since Potter, with the first half being the benchmark. Piroe was outstanding looking down on the game from the stand his movement is superb, he also can put it about. Paterson im not sure about does some things reall well and closes down well but gives ball away perhaps im being a bit harsh there though. Downes MOM again head and shoulders above everything dominating midfield and growing into a bargain buy of the season. Hamer still gives me the jitters though.

Of course he was and Paterson often runs out of steam as the game goes in, hardly surprising with the work he puts in, with 2 games a week somin has to give.

Cullen and Smith both worked hard,

Agree with all that. Paterson should’ve scored and dragged it wide- still think he’s worth his place though. And Downes and Piroe were excellent. So was Laird in the first half.

It’s coming along nicely. We need to get Ntcham and Obefami fit and we’ll start generating excitement.

I still think we need pace in the side down the left and i cant see us playing both Manning and Bidwell. First half today will be on loop Monday with RM saying this is what i require for 90mins but faster faster.

I must say, I found it more difficult watching the game on TV today.
With this team, there is so much off the ball stuff to keep an eye on which is impossible on the tele.

From up in the stands its so easy to watch how Downes drops into the backline and where the runs are being made.
It's difficult to see Bidwell's runs off the shoulder.
Hard to appreciate what the players are actually doing and how hard they are working.

I agree we need pace - I’ve been harping on about it for weeks. Bidwell would be my choice. He put in a delicious cross today that was wasted.

The subs were very poor but can't argue with the players that were taken off. None were in the game second half. Couldn't find a way to stay on the ball and we made it scrappy. Structure in midfield completely gone. Martin says Smith will surprise people in his new role... not at this rate he won't.

Downes easily man of the match. Unfortunate that two of our best players want the same job in the team.

Prioe and Ntcham both looked worn out. Downes was brilliant. Yes it was a poorer second half but we all know this league can be tough and there's not much between most teams.

I'm just going to celebrate the win!

We had people complaining we hadn't won and now we've won. Can we be happy we won please?

Just my opinion, but WTF do I know anyway?

Do think his inability to go compete for headers puts us under pressure. Difficult position for him physically. All he can do sometimes is get tight and lean in and hop the forward makes a mistake.

Piroe was tired, and being caught offside continually.

Fresh legs were needed, but we need stronger competition up front than Cullen offers.

Very limited quality attacking options off bench if Piroe tires / can't play for any reason.
