| Bournemouth v Swansea City 2021/22 : Matchday Thread on 17:30 - Nov 6 by jojaca | Ryan Bennett is also red card waiting to happen every game. The defensive combination is not good enough away from home. Its lacks pace when teams play direct balls down the channels and lacks height if your up against old fashioned type forwards that score headers. I feel much more comfortable with Cabango in the team and I understand there is a mistake in him too and what happened to Rhys Williams, surely he can't be worse than what we got. Looks like passing is more of a priority than actual defending. You won't win things Russell if you don't get the basics right. You hear every week with Souness on Sky Sports going on about getting the basics right first, being hard to beat, closing down, winning the 50/50's etc. |
Indeed so.# I cannot see how Cabango is seen a a worse option

| Bournemouth v Swansea City 2021/22 : Matchday Thread on 17:33 - Nov 6 by Johnw102 | A week ago would have taken 3 points from 2 very hard away games, had we got the pen early on and Ryan Bennett hadn't gone MIA for the first 2 goals we could have got something out of it. just can't beat them or score against them. Regroup over the international break look to have games where we could pick up a few points in December. |
Had this happened or that happened mate just give it a break, we got smashed 4 nil it should have been more and we are in the bottom half of the league, the Martin excuse list today consisted of the refs fault, and penalties that we should have had, at least he gives a little variety, these excuses were nice change from the players not being fit or have not been together long enough, i guess those excuses are now past there sell by dates so he is moving on to his vast list of other excuses.

| Bournemouth v Swansea City 2021/22 : Matchday Thread on 17:33 - Nov 6 by A_Fans_Dad | The problem as I see it is that Bournemouth have just demonstrated to the rest of the league how easily we can be beaten. By utilising the exact same tactics most big, strong teams with a couple of fast players can do the same to us. |
made worse by the fact we still give them posession right in front of goal

Which perfectly qualifies what RM said. People moving from one week to the next reacting on this week result will never have the team they desire.

When villa it seven on Liverpool last season ( I think ) there was no meltdown.

But similar to the Fulham game, these two fixtures are write off ones for me. I expected nothing, got nothing. Pointless analysing it too much. If these chances continue to be simply given away then we can re-visit.

| Bournemouth v Swansea City 2021/22 : Matchday Thread on 18:53 - Nov 6 with 1153 views | ReslovenSwan1 | Martin has settled on the Naughton Manning Bennett back three. It has done OK but clearly over the next two seasons it does not looks to me to have a very convincing long term trio. it has a short term shelf life look with Cabango Rhys Williams on the bench. Perhaps there will be developments in January but if a loan it should be 18 months like Guehi. | |

If you are going for accepting a pass from the keeper and playing it out under a high press, those 2 are liabilities. Have to say, Naughton looks light years ahead of them, in speed and thought

| Bournemouth v Swansea City 2021/22 : Matchday Thread on 20:53 - Nov 6 with 894 views | Dr_Winston | We've kept more clean sheets than about 90% of teams this season yet on the back of a defeat by one of the two class sides in the division suddenly we need to replace 2/3 of our back line. There ain't no overreaction like a Swans overreaction. | |

Bournemouth are a class above the majority of teams in this diversion if not all of them, we are developing, 4-0 is a battering, but it needs to be put into perspective, lots of lessons to be learnt from today I expect. pack this one away, put it down to experience learn from it and move on.

We play a high line to squash the field and press quickly but problem with that is if teams win possession and knock balls over top we are high and flat ..and pace and space fir opposition to exploit...that's why Hamer as been playing sweeper keeper on times..its caught us out a number of times this season and Hamerton come to rescue..buts its very risky and today has shown that [Post edited 6 Nov 2021 21:18]

Lessons to be learned then. 1.Dont fark around at the back 2.Do not give strikers a chance by not marking them at all 3. Have the goalkeeper and defenders clear the ball to safety as its harder to score from 50 yards than 12. 4. Don't have a 5ft 10 full back at CH and a 6-2 CH at full back, nor a 5-9 midfielder for a back 3 defender. Take chances when they are presented ;this means shooting at the goal when the chance arises. Bournemouth are a big ,physical ,well trained outfit where everyone is comfortable in their position. They kill off teams. Imagine

There are Cardiff fans who don't get as much out of a Swans defeat as you do.
