Ryan Bennett is also red card waiting to happen every game.
The defensive combination is not good enough away from home. Its lacks pace when teams play direct balls down the channels and lacks height if your up against old fashioned type forwards that score headers.
I feel much more comfortable with Cabango in the team and I understand there is a mistake in him too and what happened to Rhys Williams, surely he can't be worse than what we got.
Looks like passing is more of a priority than actual defending. You won't win things Russell if you don't get the basics right.
You hear every week with Souness on Sky Sports going on about getting the basics right first, being hard to beat, closing down, winning the 50/50's etc. |

A week ago would have taken 3 points from 2 very hard away games, had we got the pen early on and Ryan Bennett hadn't gone MIA for the first 2 goals we could have got something out of it. just can't beat them or score against them. Regroup over the international break look to have games where we could pick up a few points in December. |

The problem as I see it is that Bournemouth have just demonstrated to the rest of the league how easily we can be beaten.

Martin has settled on the Naughton Manning Bennett back three. It has done OK but clearly over the next two seasons it does not looks to me to have a very convincing long term trio. it has a short term shelf life look with Cabango Rhys Williams on the bench.
Perhaps there will be developments in January but if a loan it should be 18 months like Guehi. |  |

We play a high line to squash the field and press quickly but problem with that is if teams win possession and knock balls over top we are high and flat ..and pace and space fir opposition to exploit...that's why Hamer as been playing sweeper keeper on times..its caught us out a number of times this season and Hamerton come to rescue..buts its very risky and today has shown that [Post edited 6 Nov 2021 21:18]

3. Have the goalkeeper and defenders clear the ball to safety as its harder to score from 50 yards than 12.
4. Don't have a 5ft 10 full back at CH and a 6-2 CH at full back,nor a 5-9 midfielder for a back 3 defender.
Take chances when they are presented ;this means shooting at the goal when the chance arises.
Bournemouth are a big ,physical ,well trained outfit where everyone is comfortable in their position.They kill off teams.
