It’s the visit of Blackburn,we have been here before, expect passing and running, then more passing and running, and then the visitors sneak a goal, that’s what happens. We are not to be disappointed.

A clash of styles : Swansea City v Blackburn Rovers. Plus Paterson latest 4th Feb 2022 08:57
The evening kick off at the swansea.com stadium tomorrow brings together two sides who couldn’t be further apart. With certain selection issues still pending for Rovers boss Tony Mowbray it looks like we could see a very interesting game based on the style of play alone. 0

Amazing what happens when you go to a mixed and direct style isn’t it…

Today’s match will be the lowest possession and most long balls as a % all season without question.

48% possession, 14% long balls, 400 passes.

A much needed 3 points.

I'm sorry if this offends and but I don't particularly care and I know Hammer got a mistake in him, but I 100% prefer him to this fisher guy, Hamer is bigger and far more commanding, an absolute waste of 400grand who ever sanctioned that deal needs horse whipping, Hamer and Benda for me.

Completely disagree, been good tonight?

I’m not sure yet but I don’t think it was worth the 300k we spent on him when we could have had O’Reilly or ANOther.

Needed a result from somewhere soon and we got it. Well done boys.

Rode our luck at times but that's football. God knows we've lost a few games this season which we didn't deserve to.

I have thought that we had turned a corner twice this season when we came out playing like many have been suggesting.

Only for it to revert back. I was full of praise the last two times… I’m going to wait a couple of games this time, I don’t want to be burned a third time.

Absolutely well done to Martin and the side for this one, but I’m not going to get too excited that he’s going to play sensibly like that as a rule until I see it happen a few more times this month.

As today showed. We have a squad capable of much better things than a relegation scrap.

Great gutsy performance!, but please stop the suicidal passing around the back. We could have gifted 5/6 goals in the first half. We looked more solid defensively when we reverted to the long ball.

Pato showed a lot of heart tonight, terrific support from the fans, really got behind him.

His interview, I think, still shows a man, who is quite vulnerable, didn’t come across like a money grabber. Past is done now, if he can deliver like that for the rest of the season, who knows, play offs may still be a possibility

It just has to be part of our game now, there have been enough examples to show it works more often than not, where as when we don’t do it… it doesn’t work more often than not. He can’t need anymore proof now.

Until we sign 7-8 swashbuckling players fit to grace the Premier League then we should be playing appropriately.

This really should be a landmark game for us and Martin to go forward with. It’s up to him now.

I agree, but of mix and match, nothing wrong with the playing style but sometimes, you need to hoof it of of defence

If our goals column was 2 goals per match, I wouldn't argue about playing out from the back. But we are creating very little playing like this. It's like a pinball machine back and fore between defenders and goalie and the occasional big f**k up.

Even when you know, you never know?

We are fifteen points above the relegation zone, shouldn’t even be on our mind at this point.

Fantastic win albeit extremely lucky. Manning will be a huge miss but hopefully we can push on regardless, haven’t had back to back wins in a while. Come on the swans

Absolutely, a mixed passing approach is what we have been calling for since game 2 of the season.

We can’t be so predictable that the opposition know they can heavily press you and you aren’t going to expose the space they leave with a a direct ball. That’s suicide and one of the things I have been staggered that we were happy to become.

I’m all for playing a passing game in the right areas if it’s purposeful or we we are winning and trying to keep possession. It just needs to be adopted smartly and with purpose, not just for the sake of it to the detriment of our results.

A little bit of the final match stats is due to 10 men in the second half, but when Manning went off I’m sure possession was around 53%, passes significantly down and short passes around 86/87%, all figures the lowest we have seen by some distance this season.

I’m hoping it was intentional.

Not a fan of the way we sat back for basically the last 35 minutes. Lucky that didn't bite us on the arse. Again, far too fond of a backwards ball when there's a clear forward option too. Pato did it two or three times. Turned backwards when there was absolutely no need. That needs to be hammered out of them, or at least no longer hammered into them.

Otherwise a gutsy performance and a valuable three points. Wolf will get overlooked by many but he had another good game. Not sure if we play the kind of football he will thrive in, but can't fault his determination.

Pain or damage don't end the world. Or despair, or f*cking beatings. The world ends when you're dead. Until then, you got more punishment in store. Stand it like a man... and give some back.

We are now yes.

Before the game it was 12. As I said last week, relegation was unlikely especially with the deductions to others, but we can’t sleep walk away from them, we had won 1 in our last 8 league games prior to today and sleepwalking we very much were.

We needed to pro actively pull ourselves away from that end of the table and more towards the middle with some sensible fit for purpose play, which we did today.

We need to see more of it.

I guess he is trying to develop this ‘absolute football” model so that the players are completely used to it as second nature, so that when new, better players come in, in the summer, they’ll fit in to a well established engine. God knows how we didn’t concede tonight.

Totally concur, and made ALL the difference with a massively influential impact with his go-fwd positivity from the off. Against all the odds.

Some of our so-called online fans need to hang their heads in shame.

Big shout out to the Nth East for the massive Pato support, throughout, esp when he got cramp (after not playing for so long, yet still lasted the full 90+ minutes).

In BergkamPaterson we trust, for our wins, and applaud in so many ways, fair play.

Well the new players will have to learn whatever he wants all over again. This side is essentially a brand new one now.

Cabango, Manning and Grimes are the only 3 players that started today that were here last season. This is his squad now, he’s been backed contrary to what some say. To have a brand new starting side after 6 months in the job is certainly the owners playing their part regardless of how disappointing January was.

But the new players coming in pre season won’t need that much bedding in if we are playing a sensible style. I can never call the previous style “total football” it was horrific on aesthetics, application and result, if they have to learn that then expect another tough season.

But hey, let’s hope not. As I said this should be a landmark game for us.

Just seen the sending off. They need to bring in retrospective action for pathetic diving like that. Luckily for once it didn’t hurt us, but clipped in the arm and rolling around clutching your head should be punished for such embarrassing actions.

- amazing result, could have conceded at least 4 on another night but we've been due some luck &the boys ran their balls off.

- Blackburn very annoying team. The ballboy by the East was superb.

- Atmosphere tonight was brilliant without the rugby plastics, of which there was a fair few. No where near 16,900 there.
