| Rwanda flight on 22:46 - Jun 14 by KeithHaynes | I travelled from Spain to Austria on Saturday, then to Slovakia on Sunday. Back to Austria yesterday and home to Spain today. Freedom movement is here in the EU. Not once was my passport checked. And only once did my EU residency card get a check. Brexit has taken the UK a to a new level of separatism.

In other words, leaving the EU was and is madness . It was mostly about xenophobia . Fact.

| Rwanda flight on 00:59 - Jun 15 by Kilkennyjack | Immigrants are more likely to work and pay taxes than uk born people. Other countries allow asylum seekers to work whilst cases are progressed. The uk chooses not to allow this. You are more likely to bump into a migrant working in the nhs, than as a claimant. Have a listen. |
Immigrants? Majority are illegal, coming in on boats with no papers at all. Everyday these boats arrive full of young men, a recipe for trouble, put them up in 4 star hotels, and then lots disappear to who knows where

Well immigration is an important discussion point and over the years it has had huge benefits to our country and culture, our economy and our general standing in the world. People like to make out we are a horrifically xenophobic or even racist country but we have welcomed countless millions of good folk from all around the world, many of whom have gone on to achieve great things and become universally loved. But it would be folly to suggest that immigration only has positive benefits, it causes problems too, but over the years it’s almost become a taboo subject. We aren’t allowed to talk about it without being branded a racist. We should be able to have an adult discussion about the practicalities of having hundreds of thousands of extra people every year needing to be using the roads, hospitals, needing somewhere to live, competing for jobs etc. Also the Tories despite the rhetoric they want to feed to their base secretly love mass immigration from poor countries as it drives the wages down for their business owning mates who can pay agencies to supply them with disposable migrants willing to work for minimum wage or even less on 0 hour contracts. It’s exploitation really. Young people can’t get on the housing market because of basic supply and demand, there’s not many available houses because the population is growing faster than we can build them. There’s loads of issues around immigration that’s nothing to do with xenophobia. For me and lots of others immigration is a fantastic thing that has enriched us but we need to face up to the problems too which are largely driven by the unsustainable numbers.

They aren't illegal if they are asylum seekers. If they don't present themselves to the authorities then yes they are, It's not illegal to cross the channel.

They are illegal if they don't have valid passports or visas to enter the Country. Try travelling to any EU country from the UK without a valid passport

Why should France take them? France, could just send them back here. If we did, that would make us ppl smugglers France has taken 4 times more than we have. Why should France take all the burden and we get way with it. We are stuck with this problem. There is nothing we can do about it

Because internation conventions say genuine asylum seekers should seek asylum in the first safe country they reach. Makes you wonder how many safe EU countries they pass through before they reach France.

| Rwanda flight on 11:41 - Jun 15 with 1117 views | Dr_Parnassus | Let’s say there was a civil war in England. Janice and Mick from Manchester packed their bags and decided to go to Barbados to live, turning up illegally and expecting the same rights as Barbadians with regards to benefits, work, healthcare etc all paid for by the Barbados Government and people. I wonder how many would slate Barbados for not letting them do so. I wonder how many Barbadians would be welcoming to swathes of Janice and Mick’s turning up. Would they be xenophobic? Racist? Of course not. A country runs a fine line when it comes to the economy, a massive influx of illegal immigrants drains resources and affects quality of life for the inhabitants. Money doesn’t grow on trees - the people either have to pay for them by increased taxes or the pot takes from elsewhere to service them, which means things like healthcare suffers. Anybody making this a race issue needs to give their head a wobble, because many people all for illegal immigration would be the first to criticise people from the U.K. doing the same elsewhere. | |

Quite a few I reckon!.... In fact it was reported that two ISIS members whom used 'insertion' infiltration/subterfuge tactics to partake in The Bataclan massacre/Paris attacks that killed 130 people in 2015 landed at Greece via a boat carrying migrants. It was mentioned that ISIS loves European open border policy and lack of security because the murderer's/terrorists responsible would have had to travel though a few European borders to get to Paris in the first place.

What & you think sending them to Rwanda is not doing something? What do the lefties on here believe is a good solution rather than slating the current government for trying to do something about it? Anyone who arrives here illegally should immediately be deported & not be able to play the expensive legal game. It costs 1.5 billion a year to deal with refugees money that I believe my taxes should be used elsewhere. Our country has too many wishy washy lefties & liberals.

I'm of left leaning I've said this is just the government trying to look good on imergration yet there is thousands of over stayers in the country you don't hear about that in the press do you. The channel business I'd ether send them straight back to France or we have thousands of service men /women come to some arrangements with France and other EU states because they could come from other beaches and have our troops on the these countries coasts stopping these dingies coming over
