| Anti-Semitism in Football 22:18 - Jul 27 with 7075 views | Kerouac | Let's kick it out shall we... I for one want to know what our club intends to do about it. I am proposing that before every game, after the obligatory kneeling, our players turn towards the fans and beat their chests with their right fist over their heart for 10 seconds. Do my fellow Jacks agree? If not, why not?

| Anti-Semitism in Football on 16:45 - Jul 28 by Kerouac | Has our club not been supporting BLM for 2 years. Yet you think asking our club/players to do something to show their condemnation of anti-semitism (in the context of rising anti-semitism and attacks on Jewish people throughout the UK & Europe) is too much to ask for yes? How does anyone, who supports the kneeling for BLM, square that one away in their head? |
No, they haven’t. They’ve been kneeling against Racism. There is no longer any connection to the movement though you keep insisting it is.

| Anti-Semitism in Football on 16:51 - Jul 28 by Gwyn737 | Feel to evidence your accusation by finding any post I’ve ever made supporting the BLM movement (not the sentiment of the simple words or players right to kneel when applying directly to racism) |
...but to be clear, you don't support our players making a gesture before every game to raise awareness of the problem of anti-semitism, correct?

| Anti-Semitism in Football on 00:46 - Jul 28 by Kerouac | "Maybe not that many jews are interested in playing football?" How do you know that and why would you assume that? "To be honest racism has never stopped black players, even when football racism was REALLY bad, black players still came through. So maybe it's not about racism." So does it follow that the players don't kneel because racism has damaged their football careers but rather that they are seeking to make a point about racism in society in general? If so why can't they do the same for Anti-Semitism? "Anti Semitism has always been there, the Jews have always faced hostility, they were being attacked, victimised in Europe centuries before Hitler. Even during the 30's when it was starting to show up how Germany was behaving to the Jews, Britain often turned its back." What point are you trying to make here? That Anti-Semitism is a problem that has been with us for centuries and needs addressing? Or is your point that because it has been a problem for centuries it is not a problem that needs to be addressed? "is Anti Semitism increasing, maybe it is. People are no longer allowed to be publicly racist to Black people or LGBT+ so maybe the bigots turned to other targets." Maybe? You don't believe the stats? Is that how it works...does that mean (in the context of your previous reference to the history of Anti-Semitism in Britain and Europe) that racism against black people came first, and racism(?)...I think you meant 'the persecution of'...against LGBTQ+ people came first...and then people across Europe moved on to Anti-Semitism? Or do you mean that people who were racist in the UK in the 1970s...most of whom will be in their 70s now...have moved on to Anti-Semitism? |
Oh for oete's sake. I don't know and I haven't assumed, I suggested "maybe"? They don't kneel for black lives matter anymore, keep up, it's called kick it out now and as such covers all racist bigotry. The point was, is it really rising because it has always been there. Obviously it needs dealing with. Stats eh, lies, damned lies and STATISTICS. Where do the stats you refer to come from? I haven't seen them. There has always been racism and it'll be here long after I'm gone, that is very sad but very true. There will always be bigots of one kind or another. Those older racists will likely have brought up their kids to be racist too, it's not just about 70 somethings.

| Anti-Semitism in Football on 16:21 - Jul 28 by onehunglow | Israel all evil ? The people live in a democracy which their Arab neighbours do not . There is absolutely a link between ant semitism and Israel . Their are inextricably linked. It was set up as a Jewish homeland and by that Jews who were being persecuted as they have been for millennia . Most Jews support Israel and quite understandably as the land was a place where they could live without persecution.. Now,the fact Arab land was seized is another matter but Israel is surrounded by countries that want to eliminate them. |
What Israel is doing as a country is evil. A lot of what America and UK do is evil too. I'm not proud to be British at all, far from it. Doesn't mean I hate Americans or Brits. Same as I don't hate Jews.

| Anti-Semitism in Football on 00:50 - Jul 28 by Kerouac | Do you honestly think there is unanimity of political opinion in our football team? Or is it more likely that those in the team who disagree feel pressured into complying because to stand up whilst their team mates kneel is to invite hate and accusations of "racism"? "unfortunately the governing body fell for the propaganda and supported a less than wholesome organisation with dubious aims, to put it politely." So we, as a club have made a mistake and supported a "less than wholesome organisation with dubious aims" for TWO YEARS!?!? Is anyone at the club going to make a public apology? Are the players going to make a contrite statement? Surely we are not going to keep kneeling for a "less than wholesome organisation with dubious aims" are we? Are we?!? The fans would never allow it, surely. We are good people aren't we? Anyway back to the point. Do you support our club, our players, doing something to wipe the stain of Anti-Semitism from our society? If not, why not? [Post edited 28 Jul 2022 0:58]

No I don't but just maybe the team decided to have a vote on it and go with the majority view. They don't have to be pressured. I have seen several teams where some players kneel and some don't, I've seen white players kneeling while black players (in the same team) stand. This is no longer kneeling for BLM and you know it. it's about kicking racism out now, or are you going to do a Dr P and claim the 2 can't be separated? That third paragraph is utterly ridiculous. To answer the question, I think ALL racism is wrong, as such Anti Semitism is wrong and we should call it out wherever we see it. ALL lives matter, whatever their colour or religion.

Of course there is a connection to it, people have admitted as much on here. It was a short time ago, we all remember what happened. What you're arguing here is akin to somebody arguing that; 'the Nazi salute has nothing to do with the Nazis because we have re-branded it, we still agree with the objectives of National Socialism, but we have now disavowed the Nazi party...after originally supporting them...now everybody must do the salute, otherwise they are a racist!' ...which wouldn't make any sense and funnily enough neither does your attempt to airbrush BLM from the kneeling for racism nonsense. "The rules are simple: They lie to us, we know they're lying, they know we know they're lying but they keep lying anyway, and we keep pretending to believe them"

| Anti-Semitism in Football on 16:40 - Jul 28 by Kerouac | But anti-semitism is on the rise in the UK today, no? The UK statistics are false? Are you saying tat anti-semitism is consigned to Nazi Germany, that it has now gone away (despite the rise of attacks on Jewish people recorded in the UK & Europe) and these days the real problem is that people criticising Israel are accused of anti-semitism falsely? This is a problematic thread as it turns out. I do not think we would be getting these kind of responses on an anti-racism thread. Do you? |
Maybe it is on the rise, or not....I haven't got a clue. But maybe many people are being branded anti semites, when they just disagree with Israel? Would you say I'm an anti semite? OHL seems to think I am by the sound of it.

You need to speak to some Jewish families whose kinfolk were involved in the holocaust, unless you doubt the holocaust like many even now . Take a trip to Berlin and checkout the nearby firmer concentration camp at Sachsunhausen . Forget Auchwitz. It’s too harrowing. Arabs live in Israel and are not taken away to be gassed or slaughtered and dumped into a pit minus their gold teeth |
I have nothing against normal Jewish families. I don't like the Israeli regime for what they, and many of the Jewish settlers there are doing. Pretty simple. That is not anti semitic.

Maybe, Kerouac, you should dig out my posts abuot BLM where I agreed with Dr P that they were bad. Posts that got me called racist. Many times I said "all lives matter" which again got me called racist many times. Racism is wrong, whoever it's from, whoever it's directed at, it's wrong. It should be called out and argued against at every incidence of it.

I don't know whether you are just ignorant or an actual anti-semite. I don't know you...but what you have posted here today meets the definition of anti-semitism and if somebody had been posting statements like you have made against Black people or Muslims they would have been banned. Yet the moderators do nothing about anti-semitic statements on here despite this site and the club supporting 'kneeling for BLM' under the auspices of being anti-racist. (...and you must understand that I am not trying to silence you or get you banned, I would rather talk to you, ask you questions that might make you think, possibly shed some light on the subject so you might alter your views...and vice versa I am open to having my views altered if people can defeat my arguments with reason).

I do not need to change my views. Every Jew I have met I liked. What Israel are doing is wrong. If anyone thinks I am anti semitic, they are wrong. Simple as that really. My opinion is different to many others. Yes, all countries are capable of evil. I haven't looked into every country's foreign policy, but personally, I do not like the way certain countries conduct themselves. That includes mostly Israel, UK, US, Saudi Arabia, off the top of my head. I do not blame the muslims for what Saudi do. I do not blame Christians for how UK and US conduct themselves around the world. And I don't blame Jews for the disgusting stuff the people in Israel do. I love all religions. So please tell me, how is that anti semitic? I think that people like me are being branded anti semitic. I wonder why people would want to do that?

...but our fan base and the population DO need to have their views altered re: the BLM kneeling right? You have accused Israel, a country formed after 6 million + of their people were exterminated - murdered in cold blood, women and children - by the Germans...brainwashed by the National Socialist Party (they enjoyed a bit of censorship, banning, shutting down debate, medical compulsion etc.) of committing the same crimes as the Nazis. Your words. You have not justified that statement. You support kneeling before every game to raise awareness of racism but do not want our players to do anything about anti-semitism, despite government figures that show attacks against Jews are on the rise.... ...and you have nothing to learn from anybody, but we should all take morality lessons from footballers who support BLM. Wow.
