| Anti-Semitism in Football 22:18 - Jul 27 with 7081 views | Kerouac | Let's kick it out shall we... I for one want to know what our club intends to do about it. I am proposing that before every game, after the obligatory kneeling, our players turn towards the fans and beat their chests with their right fist over their heart for 10 seconds. Do my fellow Jacks agree? If not, why not?

| Anti-Semitism in Football on 11:13 - Jul 29 by jackrmee | No mention of BLM at all in Swansea's reasoning to stop taking the knee. Apparently., most players wanted to stop because they realised it meant nothing, after Rhys Williams was abused and nothing was done. Russel Martin also explains what our players were kneeling for and it wasn't BLM. "This is not a decision that has been taken lightly, and in no way reflects any diminishing of our belief that discrimination of any nature is abhorrent and has no place in football or society. We remain firmly in support of what taking the knee stands for and represents. "Taking the knee has undoubtedly helped to raise awareness and encourage conversations about how to remove racism from the game we all love. "Should any opposition side take the knee before a game this season, then we will line-up and applaud them, because we absolutely support the sentiment behind it. "But we feel we want to take responsibility as a group and find alternative ways to show our commitment to inclusion and diversity, and we feel that needs to run deeper than taking the knee each time we play. We want to work to be a force for positive, substantive change. As a club, Swansea City is committed to equality, diversity and inclusion, and we will seek to keep working alongside the Swansea City AFC Foundation, who do so much good in promoting the message that football, and sport in general, is for everyone." https://www.walesonline.co.uk/ |
They won’t mention BLM, it’s now a toxic organisation that people don’t want to publicly confirm association with. But the links are obvious with numerous players also doing the BLM black power fist while kneeling. Brewster and Ayew being the main two. The gesture is meaningless because it means different things to different people now, it has mixed messages that not everyone can get behind in unity - defeating its purpose. The message of the knee is now divisive, confusing, poisonous and ineffective. But of course they won’t put all that in a statement. [Post edited 29 Jul 2022 11:18]

It has simply run its course not unlike the support for Ukraine. People get tired quickly

| Anti-Semitism in Football on 00:03 - Jul 29 by Kerouac | "You never clapped eh, well that was your choice, are you anti NHS then? Can you see the silliness in making that assumption." Dear, dear you are confused aren't you. Yes it is my choice and has nothing to do with you. Yes I can see the silliness in that assumption, remember me Cat? The bloke who was routinely accused of being racist for not supporting the aims of BLM? Do you remember that Cat? I don't remember you making the stance I did even though you now admit that BLM were up to no good. I would never make that assumption, do you understand that point Cat? "Of course if you ask people why taking the knee started you will get answers that include BLM because it's factually correct. That doesn't mean that taking the knee still supports BLM." This assertion is so silly Cat, and this confused assertion was the source of my laughter. If you wish to understand why I find this thinking so, so, funny Cat I suggest you scroll up and have a read back through...because you see, both I and Dr. P have already explained why the claim that making the BLM gestures (which were installed at our football club during the midst of BLM fever) whilst pretending the gestures have nothing to do with BLM is so absurd. You should be concerned about the obvious BLM link and correlation with the timeline...because you are somebody who understands that BLM were up to no good, remember! You stated so on page 1 of this thread!! Jesus Wept!!! "If you asked the question to me I could say that taking the knee in support of the fight against racism started in Alabama in 1965 with MLK. It's also factually correct. The link to BLM is a factual one but it's not why people choose to take the knee anymore." I wouldn't ask you though Cat, because you are so confused. You see, all of the photos of Martin Luther King kneeling are photos of him praying...because I don't know if you know Cat but he was a bit of a Christian, man of the cloth, the full works. Are you suggesting that our players are praying to a Christian God out there at 2.59pm on a Saturday Cat? "If someone does something and gives a reason for why they do it, who are you to tell them they are wrong?" I am somebody who can reason, that's who I am. Do you believe everybody as you sail through life Cat? Do you buy off every salesman? Do you buy the sob stories of career criminals? Do you believe every politician? If Cat Jr comes home and says "sod doing homework, I'm going up the park to smoke blow, I need to, I feel stressed", do you reply; "yes, of course. Who am I to tell you that you are wrong"? Don't be so naive Cat. "Now this clapping is a pointless gesture thing, I know quite a few NHS staff and they loved seeing people showing their support for them at a very bad time. Pointless suggests it meant nothing, that is just your opinion, I personally know people whom it meant something to." That's wonderful Cat. I have a mate, a neighbour, who is a Consultant...he hated it, found it ridiculous, stupid and personally felt insulted by it. It did mean nothing in reality Cat. Should we all go outside and clap Ukrainian armed forces Cat? After all we have lots of Ukrainians here now to listen to us clapping, I'm sure it would mean such a lot to them...it is absurd isn't it. At least, to all the intelligent, rational, sane, people left in this country it is absurd. |
Now it's you who is confused. I didn't agree with BLM (as I have pointed out) and I was called racist for saying so. I agreed with people demonstrating against racism but (and thanks to some very good posts by Dr P on the subject) I soon realised that BLM were not who they claimed to be and were in fact going to cause more trouble. As I have pointed out, taking the knee was done by BLM but it isn't owned by BLM any more than it's owned by MLK. The club and players say it's nothing to do with BLM but it's people like you that can't or won't let that go. That is your problem. MLK takes the knee as part of his protests against discrimination but because he also said prayers that means it's nothing to do with his protests? Are you reallytrying to say that. he goes to a protest and https://globalnews.ca/news/376 but it's all about praying and nothing to do with protesting? I don't know if any of our players said a prayer when they took the knee, it's possible. Many players say a quick prayer when they score so it's very possible. The rest of it turns bizarre. It's a rant to be honest, not logical. After all, if somebody tells you a blatant lie then obviously you don't believe them. Therefore do you think the club and the players are lying and actually supporting BLM. Clapping meant something to many staff but, after a while it too became pointless. it should never have been every week but that first clap, it did mean something. There have been many shows of support for Ukraine in many different guises but clapping really would have been pointless. maybe we should take the same approach to every problem and just send people heavy weapons, I'm sure that'd fix everything. Another big difference between us is you think yourself intelligent, an arrogant assumption, lacking in self awareness, especially given some of the ridiculous things you have said on this thread. You can't see it though, can you. Maybe there's some arrogance getting in your eyes? One last thing, if it was your choice and nothing to do with me then why are any of my choices anything to do with you?

But if it was for BLM, as you suggest, they'd be publicly doing the opposite by publicly stopping taking the knee, Shirley? Not once have they mentioned BLM as any reason for stopping doing it.

Why is it just stating the three players who specifically said they were taking the knee for BLM, and not just saying that all players did it for BLM, in that case? If all the players were kneeling for BLM, why the need to specifically say that Ayew, Brewster and Lowe were dong it for BLM? Surely that is fully known by everyone, according to you. *not having a go, just saying.

It doesn’t matter if they were all doing it for BLM or just some of them. The fact some were is enough for people to dislike it.

Well if no-one is allowed to do it for their own reasons, it should be stopped completely, I agree.

| Anti-Semitism in Football on 15:52 - Jul 29 with 688 views | Kerouac | Well, I'm done with this thread now. All the sane people have debunked all the BS around this political gesture. I for one will never forget how our club and a section of our fan base behaved despicably...don't count on people forgetting how we were coerced into publicly endorsing a bunch of criminals masquerading as an anti-racism campaign. Continuing to answer people who are in denial of reality is pointless. Makes me think of the reporter who this week asked the Whitehouse spokeswoman how she can stand up there and say the USA is not in recession when the facts meet the criteria (the Democrats are seeking to redefine the word 'recession' much like they have tried to redefine the words 'woman' or 'racism')...the spokeswoman responded by repeating ad nauseum that the economy was not in recession and the definition of the word had always been incorrect...making no attempt to define what her understanding of what the word 'recession' meant whatsoever. To the deluded and the liars, you are fooling nobody 😉 [Post edited 29 Jul 2022 16:03]

I'm sure they'd be interested to talk to you.

Indeed, it should be a clear message not one that means a load of different things. Because many of those things people won’t agree with - like BLM.

But if that's the case, no player should be asked to do anyhing the club wants them to either, such as wear a poppy or kneel for racism. If the player can't choose what they want to do these things for, why should they have to do it for someone else?

I can't help but think any gesture would be twisted. Anti racism becomes BLM, for dome. This would probably be twisted into being pro zion or the Israeli state.

Nothing is twisted. It was literally a BLM gesture for BLM. Those that claimed to change the meaning still kept the BLM gestures. Nothing needed to be twisted. Did anyone twist the Kick it Out campaign? No.

They shouldn’t. Football is football and no player should be made to do anything. People have different views and expecting everyone to have the same views is ironically extremely intolerant.

It appears the more tolerant some people become, the more intolerant other people become.
