Probably one of the most recognised Rock n Roll songs ever! I was having a ðŸ»ðŸº this afternoon and a guy at the bar started singing Route 66. So we had a chat and he called us a pair of old Rockers. I had to correct him that I was a middle aged Rocker.
Who released this first? Perkins or Elvis, both come back as 1956 on google.

Carl Perkins wrote and was the first to release the song. He had a big hit with it, Elvis subsequently recorded it and had a huge it. They were mates at Sun Records before Elvis moved to another label.
