That made me laugh, Cardiff itself has earned the nickname of the city of castles: there are 20 within a 90-mile radius. hmmmmm ok

The only way is to legalise and regulate drugs. It will put the dealers out of business overnight The yanks are tougher on drugs and it hasn't worked there |

It’s certainly something we need a mature conversation about. I think it would address a lot of the crime problems we are seeing, it may reduce the volume offending and criminality we see, but I think the top end offenders would move on to other things including more people trafficking. Hopefully the police would have more time to investigate.

No politician would ever suggest it, it’d be career suicide. In one swoop, you’d be able to tax it, have properly funded treatment centres, not have drugs mixed with all sorts of crap, criminal gang’s income would plummet. Big part of my prosecuting work is multi handed drug dealers. Burglaries would go down and the number of users would decrease Be a very brave government to propose it.

I would target pubs on a Saturday night, hit the bogs. Plenty of snorting going on. Instant £1000 minimum fine and criminal record. Why are we turning a blind eye to druggies? It makes life easy for the suppliers.

It's been tried succesfully in several countries. It was actually trialled in Liverpool a few decades ago and seemed to be working until the reactionaries pulled the plug on it. I agree though, it would take a brave govt as the British public isn't forward looking and informed enough

| Shooting of a nine year old girl on 10:47 - Aug 23 by union_jack | Having representation in court is what makes us a civilised society though I’m fully aware of the irony in that considering the subject we’re discussing. I can assure you it won’t be their personal view but you’ll know that from your time in the police. As for witnesses, the two adults have survived and I’m presuming at least one of them was a parent of the child. I wouldn’t give a jot about the consequences if I recognised the gunman if I were in their shoes. Although we’ve jumped to conclusions about this being drug related, it’s got the hallmarks of an estranged partner going back in a fit of jealousy. All speculation of course. |
Shows how dangerous speculating, in some cases can be. Totally wrong there! I have no words to describe these individuals.

It is quite funny then that there are quite a few MPs with links in the maijuana growing industry. The legalisation of low risk drugs is the only solution to the problem. Its already proven to work in numerous areas and countries.

| Shooting of a nine year old girl on 15:34 - Aug 23 by Jack123 | After hearing a few more details about this case, I suppose the best bet for information would be the 2 males the gunman was shooting at first, it would definitely be better for them if he was behind bars, although if it was drug war related, would it still be considered grassing given the police the name of someone trying to kill you? |
Given that a child has been killed, I’d imagine the name will,be given anonymously and they’ll then do a cctv purge from his home address and associates to try to link him.
| Shooting of a nine year old girl on 09:15 - Aug 24 with 1099 views | onehunglow | Firstly,I can understand the calls to make Class A drugs legal. I just worry about the society we would see with druggies basically smothering society with their putrid lifestyles. Drug dealers are not going to walk away from crime because it is made illegal. There will still be a market. It is all about stopping people taking dope in the first place. No market,no need for drug dealers. We cant win with burglary so maybe we should legalise that. It is about basic economics. Supply and demand. Meanwhile,a capital deterrent might be justfified for people who commit crimes like this. To many bleeding hearts in the world for those who dont need it. | |

There will be no market for dealers if it's legalised, regulated and contolled. How many of us buy illegal alcohol. Do pub landlords shoot each other or beat them u? Do Ceos of Heineken put out contracts on ceos of Carling? There has always been a market for stimulants and recreational drugs, it's what many ppl want. We will not stop supply and demand. The vast majority take recreational drugs without any il effect or problems at all We can take a burglar off the street and crime will drop, take a dealer off the street and another will take it's place the next day

Firstly,I can understand the calls to make Class A drugs legal. I just worry about the society we would see with druggies basically smothering society with their putrid lifestyles. Why would this happen ? How many people who do not use Class A drugs now would start using heroin or cocaine eg simply because it is legal ? Very few I would say, certainly you would not see society 'smothered' by druggies Drug dealers are not going to walk away from crime because it is made illegal. There will still be a market. It is all about stopping people taking dope in the first place. No market,no need for drug dealers. No, they obviously won't walk away from dealing drugs, no one is saying that dealing drugs should be legalised, and the sentences for dealing, especially Class As are already very severe. People will always take drugs, they will never be stopped. More money is needed to treat people, however, they are preyed on by dealers, who live in the same area and who bombard them with texts every day. It is nigh on impossible for them to get off it when surrounded by people like that. Money can be raised from taxes from the gvnt controlled drugs into rehab. Secure centres where the drugs would be available would also have rehab centres attached (these are already in place) We cant win with burglary so maybe we should legalise that. That is entirely different. People are addicted to drugs, if we take simple possession away and treat them as victims and remove them away from being criminlised, then burglaries go down as people commit them to fund their drugs habits. It is about basic economics. Supply and demand. I agree, but is also about the quality of supply. Why would a user buy from a criminal where if theyre in debt face violence when they can buy or get from a Gvnt source, also guaranteeing a quality product not one laced with goodness knows what Meanwhile,a capital deterrent might be justfified for people who commit crimes like this. Capital punishment is a different topic, one which should never return. Innocent people could be killed

Just as innocent people are slaughtered, like this nine year old. By all means, have no capital deterrent but ,with respect, neither you nor anyone else could convince me vicyptims have justice, not when those who do the butchering are drawing the breath their victims cannot . Then they can appeal via learned counsel to be released . We either look after people or we do not. The arrest made in this case today is of a chap released early on licence after a string of offences . Now,why early release . Innocent people get killed They have here [Post edited 24 Aug 2022 15:30]

Hang on, it is the person that was shot, that has been arrested, not the gun man. At the moment he is a victim and a potential witness. Secondly, we do not know for offences he was in prison for. You cannot seriously be suggesting that every single person who is sent to prison must stay there for ever ? It could be someone fiddling his expenses or ripping off the DWP. Would you be happy to explain to the family of someone whom was innocent but wrongly executed the reasons behind them being killed ? Look at the crime rate in America, it’s not a deterrent. That’s before we get into juries being less likely to convict someone who faces the death penalty and a huge lack of people prepared to prosecute it

It should be quite simple. They stop a motorist, and issue what they need to. Fine, points, or ban. It's not rocket science to set up something to catch these druggies. People have been saying for the last 50 years " let's get the suppliers". Stop the day tomday druggies and suppliers would soon be out of business.

It's because it is simple Builth. We have to have complicated ,arcane laws so legal experts can explain it to us. Drug possession cautions are risible,as is obvious This is serious stuff and we have not yet come to terms with it. We havent in 60 years. Legalise them all is a cop out. Nobody advocating it KNOWS what would transpire.
