It's not just Truss and kwarteng thats the problem though. Starmer has made statements that when fact checked, turn out to be nonsense. Like his claim about a 170 billion windfall tax. We probably would be better off with Labour in power but maybe not much. They are all a joke.

Is there anyone on here who said lets give Truss a chance and wait and see what her government does? Or are all these people now too embarrassed to show their faces? She has conducted a number of calamitous interviews this morning, following on from the governments calamitous economic policy. Her handlers must be ecstatic with how much money they've made as clearly she is too dull to enact anything herself.

Probably because the USA is a nett energy exporter have exploited their reserves of oil, gas, and shale gas. They are immune from the Energy crisis created by the Russian invasion. Time the UK exploited their own Fossil fuels reserves and continued expansion of green and nuclear energy instead of importing it.

Her handlers? Have you considered that she has business interests outside politics that are making a lot of money? I don't trust politicians generally speaking and a lot of these cling ons have outside interests that can benefit from a change in government policy. For example, some people made a fortuen for shorting the pound on the back of these recent changes, what if Truss isn't being handled by them but merely in cahoots and will leave politics ina few years for a VERY well rewarded job in the city? Thinking these people are being handled could be valid, but they could just be in on it, part of the global clique that is hoarding wealth for the few.

To make it even simpler and more balanced Govt is borrowing to pay those more able to see this storm out than those who live from hand to mouth. Nothing done for those in Care. They still have to sell their house to pay for a glorified camp bed with chicken nuggets for tea. It is indefensible and KK is the embodiment of insouchiance at a difficult time

You didn’t have to be Nostradamus to predict where this was headed. Sometimes it’s nice to proven right, this isn’t one of them. This was me to you back in July: ” I had sympathy with Sunak, he was clearly becoming exasperated by the empty head opposite him. Politics despite the clowning on the national stage we’ve had to endure IS a serious business that has a direct bearing on all our lives. It ought to be the last place where fools are suffered gladly. If Sunak doesn’t come through it will be a travesty, the prospect of Truss at 10 Downing Street is a disaster in waiting.”

Ah but, Lohengrin, the advantage you have over many politicians is your brain works. You exercise it regularly, you read A LOT. You are capable of thinking whereas many of our politicians are only truly thnking about themselves. I would never stand for office because I am not bright enough and I'd have honest intentions. Honest people don't seem to get far in politics.

Johnson was very clever pretending to be a fool. Truss need not pretend. I've no doubt that she works in her own interest, but that is also the interest of those who put her in the position. However i've heard her speak and I just do not believe that she is intelligent enough on her own to devise such a plan.

Well they've backed down n the top rate cut anyway, it won't help because now they'll just be called weak. the whole idea was a mess from the moment they thought of it. When it comes to intelligence, she doesn't really need it, there are plenty of previous examples of government chicanery for her to copy. Bojo wasn't that clever, people saw through him ages back. Apparently he did the same routine at his speeches quite a lot, pretended to lose his notes and do it off the cuff.
