In the current format, neither would I, but if they ever did have a leader like Stewart, their whole philosophy would be different

| Liz gone on 18:02 - Oct 20 with 582 views | Joesus_Of_Narbereth | Put yourselves for the moment into the mind of an average Tory MP. Yes I know it sounds horrible. Now block out all the sexual perversions and degenerate desires and imagine who or what you would vote for? Bear in mind they are forty points behind in the polls. [Post edited 20 Oct 2022 18:03]

Wallace, boring, sensible, did the job re Ukraine, intelligent, seems capable. Possibly a centrist. Ideal to unite them. Only chance of a GE is that they cannot chose a candidate

Well, that will lead to thunderstorms because we would then be a one party state ,although that is what some want .

Needs a strong opposition, completely agree, but the Tory party have had that with their huge majority for the past couple of years. They need some time in opposition,.

Rory Stewart’s voting record will be the same as Bodger’s. The fact that he ‘appears’ to be more reasonable (see also Sunak), means absolutely nothing.

Preferably the candidate should be morally deficient. So you might have to miss out this time.

Torn apart yes but only they will be able to call for a GE, in 2 years time, the Tory faithful will be backing them again and will have forgotten whats happened in the last 12 months

Have a listen to the ‘rest is politics podcast’ he explains about that, essentially a 3 whip line to vote with the Gvnt or be sacked. He’s working now doing a lot good for very poor people around the world. Wouldn’t surprise me if he joined labour. He’s a decent man.

No boring and sensible is the last thing they’ll go for. Intelligent and capable is irrelevant. The first priority for any Tory MP is to save their own skins at any cost. They are currently facing total election oblivion. Forty points behind in the polls. They will be looking at the person most likely to get votes at a GE to save their own seats. They are in short supply of them at the moment. The question is will they think Boris is too tainted by partygate to win them votes? Or will they just not care. He’s got a good record of winning elections despite his vacuous quimfoolery.

There’s many MPs who are, according to the bbc, threatening by elections if Johnson returns. All those people that resigned would.not work with him.
