Coventry City v Swansea City 2022/23 : Matchday Thread 21:04 - Dec 12 with 18628 viewsNotLoyal

Swansea City go in search of their first win since beating Cardiff City (again)

The Referee for this game is Robert Jones from Liverpool, so the players had better calm down. Sorry but it’s the best we can do. Jones will be assisted by Ian Hussin and Natalie Aspinall, with Darren Bond the fourth Official for the game. Bond had lost his magical powers since he had his hair cut. Over the last 12 months Robert Jones has refereed 29 games, comprising 9 Championship games, 16 Premier League games, 1 Club Friendlies 1 game, 2 FA Cup games and 1 EFL Cup game. In addition he has been the Fourth Official 102 times. During this period he has issued 77 yellow cards at a rate of 2.66 per game and 2 red cards at a rate of 0.07 per game.

Joe Allen fit for Coventry but Obafemi continues to be a timely mystery 16th Dec 2022 14:30
Joe Allen is fit to face Coventry City tomorrow afternoon in the first Sky Bet Championship away game for the swans since drawing against Huddersfield Town five weeks ago. In that time two victories on a short tour of Scotland for the swans gave some hope before last weeks disappointing home loss to Norwich City. 0

Coventry City not wary of Swansea at any level 17th Dec 2022 08:00
You can understand why Mark Robins and his Coventry City side are in no way apprehensive about this afternoons game against Swansea City. The sky blues are on a run of decent form and the swans really do need a win by any means necessary to get their season back on track. 0

Jekyll & Hyde Swansea City but it’s still really not working … 18th Dec 2022 08:00
Yesterday afternoons game may well have been thrilling for the neutral, and let’s be honest over the ninety minutes of football a win for the swans wouldn’t have been a surprise. Unless of course you refer to the three blinding saves in the first half from Steven Benda, the poor selection choices at the start from Russell Martin or indeed the sleepiness we again witnessed at the turnaround which put the swans 2-0 down. 0

ethics and desire are good but ability scores above all of those and unfortunately Martin lacks that.....

Of course, but he can only pass on that by coaching, and most will agree it works.
The players are the issue, as it always has been. Danny Gabbidon said today the very same thing, Elite football requires elite players.

Starting line up?
Well done to the players but questions have to be answered.

This ^

Got back about 30 mins ago and me and the eldest have just polished off a chicken fried rice with curry sauce and salt and pepper wings, he had more of his fair share which people on this forum who know him would agree.

That game was unbelievable, we got the side at 2pm like everyone else and thought wtf, cooper not starting and ntcham was, paterson on the wing 🤔 no wonder we were lacklustre, as soon as joey and oli came on the game changed, instead of half paced football, there was urgency, quick throw ins and players driving forward, yes forward with ball, Coventry couldn't handle us, joey and oli were awesome, especially joey, grimes tried and failed to take us back sideways and backwards passing but joey would have none of it.

This game to me is a turning point, we have some great positive players who need to be released from their shackles that martin has put them in, if martin hasn't learnt fron today he can fvck right off.

as a manager he is questionable selection ..Patterson didnt work last week yet again he repeats it
as I said out earlier good run had Cooper starting yet that has changed

Given your unfailing support for him I wonder Keith does he donate to the charity?

What a disgraceful post, you owe Keith an apology.

If it was me moderating this board and you aimed that at me, it would have been your last post on here

You give it out, you take it back it`s all part of the game

the tactics that exposed Cabango and Wood throughout the first half without Benda we could have been 3 down at half time

Martins selection was flawed our good winning run earlier in the season had Cooper starting and it is no coincidence we looked better today and last Saturday when he was on the pitch

Martin is a fraud I've said it many times before and been called put for it on here...we rescued a draw from 3 nil down but we should never been in tha position....this man has no idea most of us supporters could pick a better starting line up and game plan tha thisso called professional....to be honest my thoughts at five past four were get out of my club get out of my club Russell Martin get out of my club and despite the result I still feel the same 7 games now without a win yet the last 20 mins shows what our players are capable off when selection and tactics are employed

It wasnt the tactics that expose the defence, it was the team on the pitch, simple as.

yet the subs changed the game players not picked to start

he has no coaching ability....
GBbidon was questioning his tactics and selection...not players ability and also discussed The contrasting styles comparing Coventry to Liverpool looking to try the ball forwards quickly and us to Man city

I will say that will be the manager Russell Martin.
However, he was also responsible for the team he selected that scored three goals to earn a point.

So if the bloodlust of these people is satisfied and he is taken to the block in the morning and his head is lopped off metaphorically of course who is out there to replace him with?

I can’t think of anyone available who would be good enough or would be willing to work under the conditions of these absent owners.

We weren't lucky, we totally deserved to get a draw and were unlucky not to come away with the win.

I for one do not want him to be sacked, he just needs to learn from his mistakes, like today, his starting selection was the reason coventry took a commanding lead, we have good players but not enough to play his style and have subs to come on and carry it on, he needs to have a plan b and c.

Because I have a different opinion it doesn’t mean I’m defending him, I’ve mentioned on the non football board how people ( IMO ) should review information and then offer an opinion. But that requires that person to be non judgemental. Remove the agenda and then look at the facts.

You can’t say he’s rubbish when we are three nil down and then still say he is rubbish when we are not, and both of those situations were brought about by the same person.

You don’t like him, that’s fine, but don’t let other potentially more illustrative opinions cause you to judge a situation in its entirety. As I said, please reference the reports on here over the last six weeks.

We even optioned a replacement !
