Was tugged but didn’t go down until the tugging stopped.

Should have laid the ball off anyway.

We are trying to be too cute. Playing balls which the feet can’t keep up with and losing possession.

Also, no control of the ball. Seems to be getting stuck under their feet too often.

Despite the likely result, personally I think it's been a performance that has lots of positive signs and we're only going to get better you'd think.

to be honest the second half has been very poor and to Treforys jacks point , they will have to , was not impressed early days but can see we need a galbraith replacement someone who can control the game
lots of effort but no patternor plan
know lads need to adjust etc but honestly that was nowhere near good enough

Lots of good build up work but the final ball has been poor. Defence has been good, restricting them to just one shot on goal. Mixed bag really.

Difficult for me to see any positives.

Others may be as well but Burgess definitely at fault, and was poor all game.

Never leave early but would have been sorely tempted today.
We wouldn't have scored if we had played until midnight.

I think it’s been below average, especially the second half.

Yes, some positives with more pace on the flanks but a lot of fancy Dan stuff without an end product. Some maybe happy with that but I’m not.

However, it’s a cup game of less importance than the league and players are still getting to know each other so I’ll hope, expect even that things will get better. But today was disappointing.

Truth is we looked as we have for long
We’ve had new blood brought in but it’s changed nothing
Positives ?
Yeah , of course
Crowd were really enthused

We have to be honest and quit accepting medicority and stop posting material that is simply for the posters “ positive” image
It’s about the club , the team
Negativity is often the truth and the truth is the primary victim every time

Second half should have seen greater fluidity and drive .It didn’t

Only a cup game Of course it was

We were shapeless and clueless in that 2nd half and ended the game with 2 shots on target, its early in the season of course, but it was the same for Birmingham, but they totally controlled that 2nd half, Just had two great chances especially his 2nd chance and he fluffed his lines.
Need to put our chances away, Vipotnik came on, but we never saw him, going through the motions?.

Sometimes the ostrich effect makes people feel better.

Me, I’d rather say it as I see it which could be very good, very bad or somewhere in between. Today was a mixed bag but we were toothless and they were thinking faster than they could act. That happened last year so I’m not over confident we are going to solve the issue. Sometimes, keeping it simple is the best option.

Poor result. Played ok (ISH) but need to improve significantly if we want to be up there with the best sides in the championship this year.

I thought we looked a little lethargic and unorganised particularly in the second half. Felt like a pre-season friendly not a cup match.

I'll give them a free pass on this week as some new boys are still gelling and finding fitness, but next week needs to be a step up to get anything out of the game.

You make great point
We try to be cute
We haven’t the quality MITs like asking our CBs to play pretty
They can’t
Negatives today
Vigsroux distribution no better
Key running into No man’s land
Tymon still a chronic defender
Whole team playing like strangers
Even on extra time , no urgency
Still going sideways

Positives

Lissah looks quality
Vipi still on our books
The sun shone

So a different opinion to you = ostrich effect, we all see things differently, I saw a lot of positivity 1st half and even allowing for a much poorer 2nd half where we should have had a nailed on pen, we should have won that game relatively comfortably, we didn't, we lost and rather tamely in the end., which wax the biggest disappointment for me. However I still saw positives in the whole 95mins and looking forward to next week.

No, not at all. But some have a habit of only seeing positives and not acknowledging negatives of which there was a fair mix of both on display today.

It’s great to be positive but it’s meaningless if you don’t see the negatives on show. Or refuse to comment on them.

Neither side were brilliant and someone above mentioned it had the feel of a pre-season friendly. I only hope our players are more on the same page next week. And more on the front foot getting the ball into the box early and quickly. Today had many of the signs of games last season.

Meh. I remember getting pumped out of the league cup by Shrewsbury when we were in the premier league. Still had a great season and played some superb stuff.

Today was basically a friendly. The real stuff starts next week.

We will improve but then again we'll have to, much much too soon to throw the baby out and imo there's some very positive signs of attacking intent ,certainly in the first half, aand we got into some good positions to shoot but it appeared players were happy to pass that responsibilty onto the next man. Some great interlink play some which worked and some which didn't but all in all I'm not too disappointed other than the lack of chances we created in the second half compared to the first .

Fair response, however equally some only see the negatives.
