Rumours circulating Haaland has asked to leave City.

Never! His father played for Man City and that is why he is there. That loyalty is not for sale.

Found this in a TEAMTALK article today re: Man City's future financial problems and revenue shortfall from TEAMTALK Oct 5, 2016 - "Man City facing financial armageddon and brutal £500m annual loss prediction after FFP ‘catastrophe’" https://www.teamtalk.com/manch

“What Manchester City will struggle to do is to sell the boxes, to sell the experiences, to sell the Tunnel Club offerings at the prices which they’ve been charging this season. Because you can’t do it. You can’t do it at home to Swansea and expect to get the same money coming in as you have when you’ve got Liverpool, Manchester United, Arsenal and so on.”

I think the best corporate lawyers will be looking at the small print on sponsorship contracts. If the claims outside of rule breaking are true do companies want to be associated with Man City and this is where the big money is.

Even less attractive if it's Boreham Wood and harrogate Town!

Personally speaking I would be absolutely amazed if Man City are the only club circumventing the rules like this. There’s a lot of talk that many premier league clubs would refuse to vote for expulsion from the premier league for Man City. Could they be worried that they will also be found out some time in the future?

I think Chelsea have certainly also done it. There's no way that they're genuinely pulling in the same kind of commercial income as some of the actual big clubs, but they've fessed up to some stuff and have mostly gotten away with it.

I don't see any reason why your likes of Liverpool, Man Utd or Arsenal would need to cook the books to that extent.

PSG are probably looking nervously at the situation and hoping the French Federation and Uefa don't start getting ideas as they're highly likely to be doing the same as Citeh.

That’s the strange thing though for me. Liverpool, Man United and Arsenal should be the ones shouting from the rooftops they are the ones who have missed out on so many trophies and champions league places etc, but there’s almost been a radio silence. I’m sure there’s a lot going on behind the scenes but if I was the owner of one of those clubs and i was squeaky clean playing by the rules I’d be incandescent with rage.

Maybe.

You're probably right in that nobody always plays by the rules. Tapping players up, offering incentives to the families of young talents, coming to arrangements over the precise financial structuring of certain deals, stuff like that I can imagine all clubs doing to a degree despite them being ostensibly against the regs.

Maybe they're not rocking the boat too much for fear of a scorched Earth approach from Man City revealing where all the bodies are buried. An "If we're going down you're all coming with us" kind of approach.

I don't see them rigging their commercial income though because I don't see that they'd need to.

BBC estimates that we are £63m in the hole as a result of their cheating. The third worst affected club.

Just fine them the total plus a Premier League fine, then pay out the clubs what they are owed.

Man City should be made to pay those 'calculated' figures out to those individual clubs plus an extra fine payable to the Prem League, the owners should be forced to sell the club and if the EFL League 2 will have them they should be demoted to that league.

Plus a 20 point deduction for 5 seasons. They should not be allowed to just bounce back, it would be detrimental and unfair to the other teams in the leagues.

They probably will have points deductions as other teams have had, but I don't particularly like points deductions if there are other sanctions available (although i think it is acceptable in many circumstances) and I don't think there is any point in taking the trophies off them.

I wouldnt want (and I don't think the Championship clubs would want) Man City placed in the Championship because they would probably retain some of their first team squad in that circumstance (even if its only 5 or 6 lesser first team players) and go straight back up taking another teams place but I think League 2 would accept them and I don't think any first team squad players would want to play at that level, Man City will probably go back up through the leagues but will probably not win every match.
I remember the Glasgow Rangers situation with them getting demoted and the Championship clubs would not accept them if I recall the clubs strongly voted not for them to be put in the Championship and voted for them to be put in the bottom tier, I'm sure they lost their players and although they won the league I think they lost 3 or 4 games and when they got to the Championship they didn't get promoted during their first season (although it was an extremely strong championship that season). I think they had some kind of transfer embargo placed on them as well but I can't remember what now, perhaps the English could learn from the Scottish and the Rangers situation that they handled very well, I don't know how the Italians went about demoting Juventus but other leagues have relegated some of their biggest clubs in the past.

They could easily get promoted even with the 20 points deduction. It would need further measures such as wage caps which would mean they’d lose many of their squad and have to rely on youth players or those on appropriate wage structures.

Maybe the punishment will be approached by it fitting the crime committed. Where would they be if they’d run the club legitimately. It’s very unlikely they’d be in L2 so will this be taken into account?

Should it be punishment way above what they’ve benefitted from their illegitimate actions to prevent further incidences from other clubs?

It’s going to be messy. What I hope for most is we get some compensation for our losses which could be very advantageous.

Just checked the odds and Man City are odds against to get relegated this season, does that mean the bookies don't think they will be demoted and don't think any possible points deduction will be enough to relegate them ?

The Rangers situation is completely different to Man City.

Years of financial mismanagement, bad takeovers and HMRC did for them. Once in difficulties the greed and hatred of other clubs aided by the SFA, SPL and SFL ensured Rangers demotion.

With Man City it was deliberate subterfuge and concealment many times over. Cheating in short.

It will not be finalised this season in my opinion and will drag on. Therefore they won't be relegated this season.

You could deduct them 40 points and they still wouldn't go down, financial penalties aren't going to affect them and if you demote them its not fair on EFL teams

Hard to know what punishment they should have

Think you might be right
Beat in mind this club is utterly shameless with fans to match
Nothing less than fiscal obliteration is needed
I just wish Chelsea and Abramovich s filthy lucre had been similarly rumbled
Another bent club rotten to the core

Any punishment must be full and final with any appeal having taken place. I really can't see that being completed by the end if the season.

I'd go for 40 points for each of the next 3 seasons. Basically no european football for them and it makes the relegation battle more interesting. The downside is that the top of the table just becomes a procession for Arsenal, and that isn't good for the Premier League. Indeed, it is hard to know what the Premier League can do without shooting itself in the foot.
Before all that, we have to see what happens with their appeal.
