Completely useless...

Compare Clucas to Shelvey.

Shelvey has drive and ambition to get the ball forward and they scored a goal from that.

I can barely remember Clucas passing the ball forward except one point in the first half where he hit a weak pass that was intercepted and caught us on the break.

i'm normally the first to single out usless Clucas, but he was far above the level Carroll was today, which shows just how poor Carroll is. How Mesa doesn't get in ahead of these two clowns is beyond me

Hate running any of our players down, but he offers fck all to benefit our team. Can't be blaming him though, just the fckn DOF...he signed him.

You look at our midfield and there is no creativity but also no one who can reliably break up play. We need the later just as much as we need the former. Sick and tired of team waltzing though our midfield.

Upthecity!

Clucas is the epitome of uselessness, £16 million? .......there should be a criminal investigation into whom ever negotiated this deal, same could be said regarding Baston.

The amount of money this club has spunked down the drain on pure mediocrity is absolutely criminal.

Completely anonymous today, Carol poor as well, doesn’t shy away from the ball and seems to work hard just no drive or guts in him, totally different player than he was 12 months ago sadly.

Strange that, especially as Clucas was in the midfield that dominated possession and passing.

Shelvey 44 passes - 72% made their target - 12 long balls - 3 hit the target.

Clucas 65 passes - 86% hit the target - tried 6 long balls - 4 hit the target

Clucas made Shelvey look the chump he is today as Benitez had to take the idiot off.

It's such a shame we have kunts for fans.

Captain Pointy got a rough deal on here. He was always quicker to spot a pass, but because he came in straight after our time as possession specialists he got pelters for trying to play quick balls between the lines. Siggy got the same abuse for trying to open teams up with flicks and balls round the corner.

Well the fools got what they want. Now we have a bunch of midfielders (Fer aside) who hide from the ball, can't make a decision, slow the game down and inevitably go sideways or backwards.

If we still had Shelvey he'd be getting as much stick as any of our midfielders. Newcastle fans are hardly impressed with him

As said on another thread. Both Cluless and Carol are 2 of the worst i've seen in our midfield for absolute yonks!

Tom is slow, weak in mind and body, lacks awareness and always always passes the fooking ball backwards when its easier to move it forward !!

No doubt this type of signing is exactly why we are going down with a wimper, no b0ll0cks in them at all, not even a hard tackle, Mesa gives it away too but at least he;s trying his hardest to win the ball tackle and pass it the right way, the other 2 are just utter fooking frauds and should be booted out the club but we have no chance of off loading the utter tripe.

The likes of Cluless and carol will be bleeding us dry in L1 in a couple of years.

I'm not surprised Clucas made more passes and had a higher percentage. It's pretty easy to hit that when you keep making small backward passes to your centre backs and goalkeepers.

Clucas did absolutely nothing of note today, I don't know what game you're watching where you're happy with his performance.

I agree.
I am starting to worry about Sam. He has been turning in safe completely anonymous performances and there is not a hint of improvement.
I have seen countless players come here and start badly but improve as they bed into the team.
It is not happening here.
On the stream we were watching today I had to go back to the line ups at half timeto see if he was actually playing.
He is moving into space to receive the ball then passing safely backwards or squarely. If any incident that requires the tv producer to zoom in he is nowhere to be seen. Why? Because he is never involved in any of the action.
Maybe confidence is so low he is playing it ultra safe to avoid the critics. Alternatively he could just not be up to the job and he will be one of the biggest ever mistakes made by Jenkins.
Dyer and Carroll were probably worse today but at least they stand up to be counted.
Time is running out for this player.

It would be more interesting to see where these passes were made and what direction they went in.

I think a Clucas is unfairly maligned, some people have it in for him. He hasn't had a run or been allowed to make a position his own yet but he doesn't seem to hide like some of our more esteemed midfielders.

Seems strange to single him out.

It’s Groundhog Day after every game. Various players get maligned on here because they’re not very good. It’s true that most of them aren’t very good. Players not good enough for the Premier League struggling to play well in the Premier League shocker. I believe they’re trying hard on the whole but they’re not up to it.

Now who’s to blame for this situation?
