Steve Cooper’s comments alarm Sheffield Wednesday ahead of the Derby County game 26th Apr 2021 19:49
With the play offs secured after a 2-2 draw with Reading on Sunday Steve Cooper has added concern to the next Championship game the swans play against Derby County. No concern for the swans of course, they are happily placed with an extended season yet again, but concern for Sheffield Wednesday ? Yes, absolutely. 0

I tend to agree but even so, I think I'd only have Lowe and Ayew on the bench. From another angle, Derby really need a result here and I'd hate Lowe or Ayew to get injured by a full throttle challenge and with us not needing full throttle ourselves, it might happen.

I'd start Hamer, Latibeadiere...and Hourihane! Rest Grimes.

Just my opinion, but WTF do I know anyway?

Hamer
Freeman Latibeaudiere Bennet Bidwell
Cooper, Smith, Hourihane, Dhanda
Cullen, Whittaker

That would do for me, and do for three points too.

A great believer in taking anything you like to wherever you want to.

Me too but based on what Cooper said I don’t think he’ll make that many changes, suspect at least 6/7 of the Reading starters will play but we good to give Ayew, Lowe, Guehi & Grimes a break.

PS Sheffield Weds have won 1 of their last 5 so they need to look themselves in the mirror rather than look to what we do.

I would start Bradley Cooper at centre back next to Bennett and bring Latibeaudier on instead of Bidwell second half.

I agree. I’d definitely rest Ayew, Lowe and Grimes. Probably Fulton, Routledge and Naughton.

Sheffield Wednesday would have a point if our season was over. As it is, our only priority should be ensure have our best players fit and firing for the playoffs.

Don't fully accept that. I think it is important we finish up the table as high as possible. To talk about not going for the last two games and accepting sixth spot seems rash to me.

I get that point of view. Finishing with momentum and playing home in the second leg would be nice.

At the same time, we’ve spent most of the season worrying about burnout. I’d far rather put our key players on ice and have them in prime condition for the playoffs. Everyone else has already qualified too and you can bet they won’t be risking injury or fatigue to their star players.

Added bonus is we can give a few youngsters a bit of game time and play the likes of Smith, Cabango and Latabaudiere, as well as get Cullen fully up to speed if he’s not quite there yet.

Genuinely don't think it's important at all where we finish or the results in these next two games. Rare that all 4 sides are confirmed this early so teams all have 3 full weeks to prepare. Powder will be kept dry and cotton wool applied, form won't matter.

Cooper's strength is tournament football and early season performances, get him to treat it like a reset and we'll be in better shape than last year.

Bradley Cooper eh, maybe "A star is born" the possibilities are "Limitless" but when it comes down to it it's "All about Steve" and who he decides to play.

I agree with this. After last year's impossible euphoria of beating all odds to get there, it would have been bloody hard to get in the right frame of mind to keep it going. This year, the mental side of things should be easier to manage and get them in the right frame of mind for two cup finals and a cup final.
