If a deal acceptable to both player and club can be struck it's a no brainer. He's a consistent 15+ goals and who knows how many assists player at this level and rarely not worked his balls off for the cause. Pretty obvious that a lot of the other players look up to him too.
He will however want to look around and see what else is out there, which he's fully entitled to do. |  |

Like all 32 year old footballers he will be looking for a long a deal as possible. Teams will offer 2 years. If a club takes a chance on his fitness and offers 3 years than he might take it. He should be employed by the cub to find good young African propsects who tend to end up in Belgium.
At Swansea he knows he plays. If he goes anywhere elas he might not. He would be of interest to all the promoted teams and the three relegated teams plus Brighton. If we get promoted would he want significantly more than he is worth now? Wouldn't a lot of them think they deserve a lot more?
He's good enough at this level but even so I think we need to move on. We could offer him a good deal, not sign anyone and he could still leave for a better offer which could leave us struggling.
It's always a gamble but I'd rather use his wages on someone younger with potential. Next season is a big rebuild for us no matter what. Cooper needs to find good players and build a balanced squad, hopefully a squad full of the right shaped pegs for theholes they are put in. | |
