The swans had a defensive record to be proud of going in to November, and a home record which was admirable. That has all been scuppered and it is now in even more disarray since the news broke on Ethan Laird’s return to his parent club. 2 The truth analysed, click above. Twits below.

These plans should be constantly changing and updating, hopefully we are in this position.

When he is sacked he will blame lack of support .

Depends on other clubs. If we come calling about a right back I'm sure the transfer/loan fee for us and that position has now gone up considerably.

The big problem is we're not after a right back, Martin's system requires a specialist attacking wide player who also has the engine to defend. To compete at Championship level in this system will require a rare/elite prospect. Even the much-hyped Laird was merely okay over his time with us.

Let's hope in the time away from playing RM will have had a rethink about his formation and I really hope that they knew in advance about yerniteds plan to take laird from us. If it was a season long loan with a clause to take him back with a specific notice period then we will have known about laird being recalled therefore giving the scouting team time to source a replacement.

It would cost the club a monumental amount of money to sack him. Just won’t happen.

We won't go up and won't go down, RM is going nowhere for this season at least. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

Laird was never going to be a permanent signing for us & we have no real alternative to play in that position. We should have other targets. Otherwise we have to go with a regular back 4

Don't disagree. Martin could have tried coaching someone into that role with a pre-season to work on them but there isn't time to do it now. In time I think the likes of Cancelo, TAA, Reece James etc. will have an influence on full back/wing back play for youngsters and coaches but that time isn't now. Looking for a LWB as well as a replacement for Laird on top of other positions and integrating them all into the team is a very big ask in this window. January window is notoriously difficult and Covid will have a further impact. What was always going to be a tricky recruitment job has become significantly more difficult. Martin may well be forced into a change of plan, which is why I suspect we will end up shopping for an attacking right back on loan. Although anything can happen in the next half hour.

I think we'd find it much easier to go flat back 4 then try and bring in players good enough to replace Laird and a new LWB too. 4-1-3-2 looks a decent bet to me. We'd still need another striker and another full back for sure. And repeating myself from weeks back but if our wing backs are so high up they can't defend anyway, why not give proper wingers a go,maybe bring Garrick back and find a left winger from somewhere?

that is the issue most of us have accepted this which is why we are so vocal regarding the issues with him. Consider the potential damage that can be done to this club in the meantime. Much has been said in the past of our club giving rookie managers a learning ground but I fear our current manager believes he has nothing to learn

As I and alot of others have said we are prepared to see this season out and see how we are doing after two windows but the owners have to back him. If we are sucked into a relegation battle then I will be joining you in getting onto his back but I'm confident that we won't be.

Why have the Club put themselves in the position that it'll cost them a monumental amount of money to sack him though, considering his lack of experience and his lack of achievements at MKD's?

Martinez - no managerial achievements. Sousa No managerial achievements, Brendan no managerial achievements of note. This is the way Swansea do things. They pick the man with the right philosophy and run with it. People want to go back to the passing game and complain that Fulton is not in the managers plans.

. For once, you're right. Such a sad indictment. Martin is most definitely going nowhere, we have regressed at an unacceptably shocking rate. 16th and plummeting, with the very worst form in this league. Unheard of in recent heady times. Some of us are furious that we're in this humiliating predicament after so much success. Shame on the unthinking that to this day still bury their heads, chewing the festering cud. Fortunately the decision makers aren't burying their heads like some of our challenged passive supporters. This is a Massive blow to Martin and his already precarious credibility. A massive moment in Martin's managerial experiment. . .

Because he is on a three year contract as are the here coaches he brought with him. I would have thought.

I don't disagree, but he needs to turn things around or at least steady the ship or a decision would have to be made surely, he's not got the charisma, humility or the ability of Martinez and certainly not Rogers, they had the ability to learn and improve, its hoped that Martin has, time will tell.
