Hannes Wolf : Another season at Swansea City ? 12th Apr 2022 08:00
On loan Borussia Monchengladbach forward Hannes Wolf was definitely the surprise signing in the championship during the January transfer window. A player with a pedigree that seemed to forever keep him on his upward spiral until a potentially career ending injury. His broken leg suffered whilst playing for the Austrian under 21 side in 2019, described as horrific in reports brought his career to a temporary halt. 0

Having got him very fit wouldn't they want him back next season?
I can't see them wanting to subsidise his wages here when he is fully fit and playing well, so can we afford his full wages?

Definitely not. It’s been muted by both Allen and Martin publicly now it’s possible, but no way could or would the swans manage his salary.

Suicide.

Maybe if we get promoted.

To be of benefit to Leipzig he'd have to be showing vastly more than he has. His fitness seems to have improved but his home club are a major Bundesliga outfit.
Some of his link up play and flicks are very good but on the whole he doesn’t stand out.
I think the next 6 games are going to be crucial.
Another season with us could be good but if he goes I don’t think he would be impossible to replace.

Leipzig sold him for £8m to B'Monchengladbach, who seem to have a lot of players with one foot out the door.

I think he'll be a good addition for next season on loan, he's 22 and hadn't played a lot before he arrived here, I'm sure he's got plenty more to give, another season be good for us and himself and then see where we go from there.

You are right.
My apologies.
For some reason I still had him in Leipzig in my mind.
TBH he is no where near being an £8 million.
What surprises me (having now educated myself) is that Leipzig paid nearly £11 million for him and he had a couple of loans to Monchengladbach before they signed him permanently then loaned him out to us!

His injury is the catalyst here sadly.

I have thought this kid could be a real player when i first saw him for us incredible engine pace etc. I still think there is more to come like last week but his weakness in my opinion is his indecisivness. More often or not he runs directly into defender, now i didnt know about his past horrific injury and prehaps more time is required, that said i would definately keep him if possible.

He's come back from injury into an inconsistent team adjusting to a new way of doing things and on top of that he's had to learn to play a new position.

He's done fine.

Pain or damage don't end the world. Or despair, or f*cking beatings. The world ends when you're dead. Until then, you got more punishment in store. Stand it like a man... and give some back.

Would be good to be able to have him, nice now having a number of players who are capable and will take on defenders in the higher areas the park, nice to have the mixture of pace, skill and high press with which we can cause more problems in the box, might get more goals, even have an opposition player sent off or get a penalty but wouldn't hold my breath on the last two.😁

He's just a foreign Ollie Cooper at the end of the day.

I've yet to see him beat a defender - they seem to find it very easy to take possession of the ball off him.

After a settling in period where he looked relatively weak and average, he is right now playing up to his vast potential under Martin’s guidance and care. Another season would see him become one of the very best in the division in my opinion, shame that by all accounts it appears as though this will be a one time affair due to wages. It does give me tremendous excitement at the calibre of player we can attract in the summer, though.

There’s a multiple of things the swans can do to retain him. Including the potential of paying a loan fee only but that would need some input financially from BMG. Corny is working on something, he has a lot of agent contacts.

Edit, anyone else think he looks like Trundle ?

He would be a very strange one to push the boat out for. Doubly so if Paterson is signing a new deal as suggested.

Im not sure about Patersin either to be honest, he looks like he cant be arsed some times then other games he buzzes about. Last week he was abysmal walking into the space and cutting Wolf out wide. I saw RM talking to him before he switched Wolf.

I thought he was excellent both defensively and offensively on Saturday. So deserved a goal and so unlucky not to get one.

Besides a few runs in the last 15 minutes - where his crosses let him down - he looked weak yet again today. For his marker it was like taking candy off a kid.
Not the answer for next season.

Swansea Indepenent Poster Of The Year 2021. Dr P / Mart66 / Roathie / Parlay / E20/ Duffle was 2nd, but he is deluded and thinks in his little twisted brain that he won. Poor sod. We let him win this year, as he has cried for a whole year. His 14 usernames, bless his cotton socks.

He is not a wing back and needs to play behind the forward to get the best out of him.

Well he beat a few defenders today but also lost the ball a lot. he's skilful but also, for me, a bit lightweight. he gets pushed around too easily.

I think this is another case of I'd prefer to be giving our young players a chance. Wouldn't Wolff's wages be better spent on a defender we need and give Cooper a chance? maybe start Ntcham more next season?

Well he certainly lost more balls than he beat defenders today.
