| Downes replacement, should he leave. 22:23 - Jun 28 with 3910 views | KeithHaynes | Panutche Camara — Plymouth Argyle According to FLW. Perhaps slightly more attacking than Downes is, the Plymouth man could certainly be available this summer and a is the right kind of age bracket with the right amount of potential to be a very good replacement. Last year in League One, he was a key player for Argyle and managed 40 league appearances with a superb return of four goals and six assists. It means he has a slightly better output in front of goal than the Swansea man and could be better for them in terms of attacking play, whilst still retaining a good level of vision and passing ability. At 25-years-old, he is slightly older than Downes is currently but his availability and current form makes him a solid potential replacement. He looks like he wants to leave Plymouth and seek out a move and whilst there is still an offer for him to stay with the Pilgrims on the table, it means he could be available on a free. From me - Let’s not forget Joe mind

I think it's more likely he stays than a club comes in for him and we bung him half a million in a brown envelope to make up the pay difference. Two years on his deal, history suggests he'll be here longer than the manager.

I just can’t see him offering anything more than Dan Williams or Olly Cooper. That is in a more expansive midfield.

I'd love to see Williams get plenty of minutes but Fulton is at least a proven entity at this level. Ntcham given licence to play with Grimes sitting would be my preference if we want to be more expansive. Still not seen him fully fit and with a run of games under his belt. Ollie on for Paterson after an hour every week.

This mailed on Jasper....Shpuld Downes go I think we have sufficient in the current squad to cope..Joe Allen for me is a luxury and in reality if he were not "one of our own" I dont think so many fans would see it as a great deal... signing a 32yr old midfielder at a "high cost" if were not for the fact of who he is. My concern is more of how we replace Obafemi or Piroe....both scored a lot of goals last season without whihc we would be sunk....

Who said that ? 😉 That’s the way to Cardiff airport. He’s sunning himself on the Costa’s in a private Villa. Maybe he will take the same route next Thursday ?

| Downes replacement, should he leave. on 10:52 - Jun 30 with 2360 views | Badlands | Reports from Wolves that they are possibly looking to get Downes at a knock down price. But what interested me was the comment, 'Potentially, that could be a boost for Wolves, who are seemingly operating a sell-to-buy policy this summer. Transfer funds don’t appear to be in great supply, so being able to get players in on the cheap could be important for the club in this window.' Shock horror … It seems it isn’t only Swansea who have to sell to buy. https://www.molineux.news/tran | |

It looks like we are desperately pimping out our players, especially Downes because we have a ready made replacement if we snap up Joe Allen. I honestly don't think there is any interest in them. The only ones that can afford them are handful of mid to lower Premier league clubs, but those clubs are probably looking at the European Market. I still think Downes, Piroe, Obafemi are massive gambles for the next level up. [Post edited 30 Jun 2022 11:26]

I agree. Despite chatter in the WOL and similar, doesn't seem to be any solid interest or any bids which should make the club sell. Hopefully we can hang onto them past September 1st

Fulton is the key, get rid of him, we get Joe Allen, IMO humble opinion.

Personally, I'd be happy if we sold on Fulton AND grimes and got Joe back in. I think Joe and Downes would be a really good pairing but we can't accomodate all three of them. Or can we?

My even humbler opinion, get rid of Grime although few would really want him, keep Fulton ,treat him with some respect and do all we can to keep Downes and make him captain. Then ,consider of Joe has the legs to give us 2 good seasons. Most important ting we could do is replace Fishy.

| Downes replacement, should he leave. on 09:38 - Jul 1 with 1888 views | glanmORJa_k | The Plymouth player is nowhere near a replacement for Downes and on the evidence of when we played them last season in the Cup, is more of an attacker rather than a player that will us the ball or play on occasion at centre back. Joey is the obvious replacement for Downes and an ideal mentor for young Dan Williams. Fulton should have been given the silent treatment as Bennett has had but Fulton as well as Liam Walsh could well be leaving with us funding a part of their salary in an attempt to ease the monthly wage bill to accommodate new signings.. | | | |

Was in the League One PFA team of the year when on loan at Coventry. Signed a month before Downes and two before Ntcham, at a time when everyone was convinced Grimes was leaving. Demonstrates why doing business early isn't always a good thing. By the time the season got going there was no room for him.

Garrick also an attacking midfield player had better stats than Panache with 50 appearances 7 goals and 8 assists. I am unclear why he gets little attention. 6ft plus fast and strong good ball control. Problems with muscle injuries resolved with 50 games. last season.

A lot can change in a month as we saw last season when Cooper was in charge at the Argyle friendly that saw Walsh come on as sub, yet within a few weeks Cooper walked away after failing to attract Palace ad Fulham, and Martin was brought in days before the start of the season after the Eustace fiasco. Joseph had also been signed. For those that can remember the game live on tv, Cooper gave the impression he didn't want to be there.

Cooper left the day after the Argyle friendly. Tate basically took that game from the sidelines. With regards Ntcham, he has to prove his fitness this season.
