Viktor Gyökeres played eleven championship games for the swans and one FA Cup tie when he scored in the 2-0 away win at Stevenage. 2 If you want to remove this post from the board index, just click the hide post icon below. Just goes to show, if you work hard and apply yourself in the correct manner, you will excel in your profession. Take note Piroe and Obafemi.

He could easily have been. Mind you with a manager who doesn’t fancy a player there’s little chance.

| Swansea City cast off with a 20 million price tag on his head on 23:29 - Dec 29 with 1146 views | ReslovenSwan1 | Cooper clearly undervalued the player. He could have been a snip for Swansea to buy. Goykeres was raw and it was Cooper's job to mould him into an effective player. One wonders if Martin is making the same mistake with Whittaker, Joseph and Ogbeta lazily declining to work to develop players he did not hand pick. it seems to happen a lot in football. Swansea city do not have this luxury. | |

It is worrying that under Cooper and Martin we have had several players, either on loan or ones we have signed, that just haven't fiited the bill as far as the manager is concerned. Imagine if we still had Goykeres plus Piroe and Obafemi firing on all cylinders, plus a bench full of youngsters itching at the bit ? Could have been oh so different

Things would be different if only Piroe and Obafemi firing on all cylinders, we would be top 4 without a doubt.
| Swansea City cast off with a 20 million price tag on his head on 06:28 - Dec 30 with 1082 views | Dr_Parnassus | He was a donkey. Came to us and looked awful, went to Coventry and didn’t get regular starts for them either. He’s had a decent season since he landed with them permanently, but anyone pretending he was worthy of a starting place in that season are off the head at best, complete revisionists at worst. Some players need a permanent home to settle and aren’t suited to short term loans, he may be one such player. As an aside, nobody is paying £20m for him, not even half. Price tags are one thing, actual value is another - I can put a £50m price tag on my toe nail clippings for example. | |

I will qualify your statements - he didn't "look" awful he WAS awful. To try and pervert the facts to create an anti Cooper debate is unpaletable. [Post edited 30 Dec 2022 9:03]

He had the Itay Shechter about him that’s for sure. When he left us, he went to Coventry on loan. He was available for 23 games for them. played 19 times, scored 3. He started the first 3 and then got dropped to the bench for the rest of the season until the final few games where they started him again. 6 in total. He was always one for the future, not to be started that season as Coventry also agreed.

That being the case, reading some of the judgements of someone not even having enough minutes to really show himself(most minutes came from the bench) really highlights how fickle and judgemental fans can be........the only thing worse is fans scrapping for excuses. Its truely a terrible world we all live in.....Happy New Year to one and all 👠

Renato Sanches had little more. 700 mins or something similar over his whole stint. You can certainly make a judgement on how someone is playing. Football is a business made on judgements, if you don’t like it then maybe watch polo?

I also find it strange that cer6ain posters will acknowledge faults in one manager but not in others ? For example, i referred in general to both Cooper and Martin not favouring cetain players. Seems like Dr P roundly acknowledges this in Martin, yet not in Cooper ? Nowt so strange as people

Shows what can happen with a manager who knows what he's doing and doesn't just blame the players more.

Unfortunately rather than take it on board and broaden ones personal horizon and understanding of the reality, they have instead taken it as a knock to one's judgement and gone on the defensive. Read the article, look at the whole picture and assess from there......how you handle it is just as important to how you process the whole picture.

The OP is simply making a point that a player that wasn’t good enough to consistently start for any of the three clubs he played for in the season in question, has since turned into a decent player. The consistency is reality, and the reality is he wasn’t good enough to have a starting position. He’s since worked hard to improve himself no doubt in order to earn one. Good on him.

If that was Russell Martin there would be a few on here ready to argue with you. It’s isn’t it’s Steve Cooper who ignored him when the club paid good money to bring him in. Russell Martin responsible for getting a loan player recalled who went on to have a 20 million price tag ? You would be XG’ ing and statting for the rest of the week.

Show me the post of yours asking for Gyokeres to start at the time and I’ll listen. The truth is there wasn’t any posts asking for him to start because none of us thought he should… for good reason. The rest is speculation.

Exactly. Instead he undermines and blames the player himself. Even though Cooper's reputation and success to that point was built on bringing youngsters on

The title states Swansea City cast off! The truth was he was never given a fair chance with us in the 1st place and the odd few minutes here and there from the bench is hardly something a fan should judge him on. He performed prior to joining us albeit in the Swedish and German keagues and given a chance after leaving us has performed! He needed his chance and he got it.......we missed the boat with him but that's football and we move on.
