He took a lot out but with out him crowds would have been less and two play off would not have been achieved. Potter sent him out Cooper thought he would help Swansea. He failed to score in the PL and theoretically could have keep Swansea up if he had played better. Had his team won at Wembley his wages would have been covered. His form led to 2 home games £1,4m with TV and a Wembley final £2m+ gate receipts prize money share and TV.

His team didn't win, that's the problem, cost us a bloody fortune when we could barely afford it. Poor decision to resign him, the terms were ridiculous.

Particularly during covid with poor gate receipts including Wembley.

He scored 12 goals in 34 games in his one season in the PL before we sold him for a huge profit to West Ham. To blame him for our relegation is hardly reasonable as he only play 12 game, signing in the January transfer window. We got relegated because our other 20 squad members were not good enough.

Neither Cooper or Potter had a choice in the situation. Potter didn’t send him on loan, the club did in order to try and get him sold and at the very least take some wage burden off. After they wouldn’t take him permanently or take him back on loan we were backed into a corner to keep him. That was not Coopers choice.

Potter could have fought to keep Ayew theoretically. He had much more money than Cooper had but Ayew's wages were the same. An estimated £4m per season. Potter wasted £4m on Asoro and Mcaky and John instead. If Ayew had scored 3 pr 4 goals in his 12 games ( as reasonable return) Swansea might have stayed up. He also missed a penalty at home to Brentford when Swansea had a real strong team. Fulham who went up narrowly scrapped past a dogged Cardiff. Manger have clout. I am convinced the US owners want to develop Whittaker but Martin wants hm gone. Thats is probably what will happen.

The US owners just want to sell him. If they wanted to develop him, they’d have listened to the player, listened to the manager and left him at the club where he was developing

Blaming anyone other than Ki-Sung Yeung for our relegation is just not on.
| Pain or damage don't end the world. Or despair, or f*cking beatings. The world ends when you're dead. Until then, you got more punishment in store. Stand it like a man... and give some back. |

If the manager in place has no interest in the player then you might as well sell whilst the stock is high. If Russy had shown himself to be open to Whittaker being part of his squad then there would no doubt be less interest in selling, especially now that Oba has gone effectively leaving us with just three strikers. It's exactly the same as the Peterson situation. Cooper was never, ever going to make use of him, so might as well sell him on. [Post edited 29 Jan 2023 21:03]

I still think we will have three strikers, but one is still to go.

Pretty ridiculous really isn't it, he came back to us with an injury if i remember rightly and only had 10 starts to make an impact. We had Sam Clucas and Tom Carroll playing a heap of games that year, we were abysmal. Especially when Carvalhal decided that we were safe and to play for a few draws. He didn't kick up a fuss, went out on loan as we didn't want to pay his wages then came back and played for us in the second tier (could've impacted his international future). He wasn't a sensible signing, but thats not really his fault is it?
